Here I thought shooting my 45-70 suppressed was fun…

Rossi R95 Laminated Rear Sight?

Hi there,

I'm interested in the Stainless Version of the R95 from Rossi. "Sadly" it only comes with the picatinny rail and not with a rear sight. Does anybody know, if I can put a normal rear sight on it, if I remove the rail or does the Stainless Version not have the cut for it?

Anyone here got their Hi-lux red dot base to sit tight on a 45-70?

Bought the hi-lux red dot base for my pedersoli 1886 but it just moves no matter what. anyone got it to work? I was thinking about filling the slots by welding and drilling new holes.

Most precise 45-70 rounds

I recently got a marlin 1895 sbl and the local shop only had 325 grain leverevolution rounds that i picked up. The grouping on these is fine but I plan on reloading and with this brass you can only reload with leverevolution bullets. I'm curious if there's any "normal" rounds that have good groupings and ballistics. thanks!

Pre/post 64 Winchesters

I know a little about the differences in a Model 70, but does the 94 or other lever action models have a drastic difference between pre and post 64?

How pointed is too pointed?

I've heard that you shouldn't use pointed bullets in a tube, but the core locks are kind of rounded. Are they ok? Or am I stuck using leverevolution??

Model 64 Hammer Falling to Half Cock

Hello, I'm having an issue with a mid30's model 64, i believe technically its the same action as the model 94, whats happening is when you run the gun normally the hammer falls down to half cock. Ive tried running it hard like a lever gun should, doesn't work. You can only be modest and kind of gentle with it so that the hammer doesn't fall. Any tips or know how on what parts to fix this? Very new to the winchester lever guns

Thanks in advance

Winchester Model 1892 38-40. Serial Number 9102.

Wondering if anyone had an idea what my Winchester Model 1892 38-40 with serial number 9102 is worth. Works. Seems to be in good shape.

Is it reasonable to expect accuracy at 100 yards target with iron sight?

I shoot my marlin 1894 with 44 mag at 50 yards and I can sometimes have beautiful groups. With 100 yards, my front sight would cover over half of the target. I will have no idea where would my bullet drop.

Should I just install a scope for 100 yards shooting?

Help

Opening day of deer tomorrow- I am stuck between two guns.

1- Marlin 1895 guide gun 45-70. Vortex 2x7 scope. Gun is a tack driver.

2- Winchester model 71 in .348. Peep sight. Gift from my grandfather. Gun is also a tack driver.

I will be hunting in the Adirondacks where the woods are thick and both seem to be good options. I guess this is the problem with having a number of nice guns it’s hard to pick- what do you folks think? No snow or rain forecast for tomorrow… I can’t seem to decide.

Let me know !

.357 mag lever gun siting in with .38 spl?

I just picked up a Henry model x .357 mag as a short range hunting/ home defense option. I’m going to the range sometime in the next couple days to verify the high viz sites and with ammo prices and availability in my state (CA), I don’t want to burn through what little .357 mag I have faster than I have to so I was thinking of using .38 spl to get a rough zero and then fine tuning it with the actual lead free rounds I plan to use. Does anyone have any experience to tell me how drastically different the two different cartridges would perform while setting up those sites? Ideally I’d like to set up a 100 yard zero but I’ve also read a 50 yard can sometime be better off for pistol caliber rifles. So any input on that is greatly appreciated as well.

Rossi R95 with a Marlin 336 stock?

Look, I’ve been all over the internet. In and out of shops. Emails sent left and right. I just…want….to know.

Can I put, an after market (specifically the Form Rifle Stocks, 336 stock with internal cheek Riser) on a Rossi R95?!

I got the R95 for a great deal on gunbroker and want to build it up. Didn’t want to settle for a RPP if I didn’t have to but I figured it would be smart to ask “The Reddit”
