Dont buy ev from kia west bc

Don't buy a used vehicle fom @KiaWestBC. Don't buy your used Chrysler Pacifica minivan or any used vehicle and pay for extended warranty. Our van was towed 90km to the dealership and the work was never done. They say they aren't equipped and we have to Tow to Chrysler and pay. When we bought this 2018 hybrid from them in 2022, I questioned the life of the battery. I was told that an extended warranty would cover the cost for that. I paid thousands for it, and now they can't honor it? They should pay for the repairs Because they lied when saying they would take care of batteries and electric issue. It's the batteries. There's no power. Kia west coquitlam is not equipped to deal with EVs so why sell them? We live in the valley and im disabled. I bought the 80k vehicle to take my foster kids to school, activities and appointments in the bigger cities. It's-8 outside. A 5 and 7 yr old can't walk over a km to school and back. Never again.

How much is the price including K4 employment registration tax?

The price of the KIA K4 LXS msrp is $24165, so how much is it if you add up the normal enrollment tax?

Help?

Hi never been on this sub before but really need some help. I purchased my first new vehicle in my life 21 months ago- you guessed it a Kia. We ended up with a Carnival Prestige and were really happy with it for the first year.

Just before a year and a half came along we started having problems. They were intermittent electrical, then another issue that increasingly got worse until we had to take it in for service. I don’t want to get into specifics on the issue right now publicly. But it is correct to say that our new vehicle has been in the dealer for service completely covered by warranty (manufacturer defects, no accidents or other situations) for 49 days now. And there is no estimated timeframe for completing the repairs.

Here is where I really need help: The dealership service department has been terrible, refusing to get us a comparable car that could fit our entirely family until today. We have asked dozens of times since mid December. We had a Kia national customer service claim open. That rep barely returned our calls or emails. It would be one message every two weeks at best, and has not helped us with anything so far. I finally asked to escalate the issue above him as he was unresponsive, and he now claims he can’t help me at all with the case or the reimbursement we had talked about. As I said, there is no estimated timeframe for completing the second repair as they still can’t find the problem.

In the meantime I am making payments on a very nice vehicle that I can’t drive and driving a base model vehicle that doesn’t fit my family. We have had two family vacations since this started that have been nearly compromised by this.

I am outside of my states lemon laws. I am trying to start a BBB Auto Line claim but that may be timely too. There is nothing I can do but sit here for weeks at a time while they try and find and repair the problem. No one to talk to, no help with our situation. So as a long time redditor (not my original acct), I thought I would ask here if there is anyway to get in touch with someone at Kia about making this right for me and my family?

I don’t want to get into the issues for potential legal reasons, but they are quite serious and not trivial issues. At this point I do not want this vehicle back. I don’t trust they can find and fix the problem, I don’t trust the parts in it, and I think it’s a lemon. Please help thanks 🙏

Sportage 2024 - Multiple radar and camera failures

I have an ongoing issue with a brand new Sportage where, when driving down the road, I get multiple ‘critical safety system failures’ which are all camera / radar related (crash detection etc). I have had the camera replaced with the same issue reoccurring and I am starting to get the brush off from Kia (its with dealer at the moment) but dont believe I should ‘live with’ this on a brand new car. I had a 2023 one with no issues at all so I can safely say it’s either faulty or a bug that has been introduced. I suspect it’s either a sensor which is too touchy or that it is condensation around the sensor area as certain occurrences have been in weather conditions that would suggest that is the case - also on one occasion blasting the windscreen with de-mist heat cleared it.

Has anyone else experienced this problem - I am getting a ‘no’ from the dealer but cannot believe mine is the only one?

2017 Sorento 2.0 Ext Gdi

Ok, so honestly I haven’t had any issues since I got it and i believe im the second owner. Got it at 77k and now has 90k and have changed the oil a few times. Haven’t noticed excess burning of oil like my VW did, and the only issue I’m having now is shaking when braking which I believe has to do with my back rotors. So I’m making this post to ask: what’s the likely hold of total engine failure for real, and is it as bad it’s made out to be? Was built in Georgia. I’ve heard mixed reviews about the issues falling off going into 2017. I just want to know if I should keep and maintain. Regularly mantinence as it was night brand new in 2017 from Kia with 53 miles. Do let me know how you feel

Parking brake

Have a 2015 optima and buying rotors it has options for a power parking brake. I’m assuming that would be with a push button and not the pedal correct? Or would the pedal activate a power brake?

2019 Kia forte weird noise when turning left (solution) VVT Selenoid

Hey, so I spent the last week trying to figure out why when I turn left and accelerated this weird rattle noise was coming from under the hood, almost like a belt slipping followed by weird acceleration. If anyone is experiencing this issue I'm making this post to save you the time I wasted thinking it was a bearing or something on the suspension like ten people said it was. Or my MAP Sensor which my car sent a code out for.

Turns out, If was my VVT Selenoid cause my engine to not get enough oil and not properly lubricating the timing belt area, aka, it was my timing belt making that stupid noise yikes, replaced it in 40 minutes flat and thankfully no lasting damage to the timing belt because I caught it early enough. Hope this helps some folks, if you experience this noise get that checked first, that'll mess your engine up driving it around.

Display 5/6 not working

I just drove my car and noticed that my display with my ODO meter isn't working. The rest of the cockpit does work. Does anyone know what the problem might be and what the best and cheapest solution is to solve it.

Rear ended. Any help would be appreciated

A new driver in a Tesla no older than 17 (likely on her phone) backed up and hit our rental. We had 5 people in our Kia rental including 2 babies. Luckily everyone is ok. The Tesla driver backed up 2 car lengths and rear ended us in a parking lot. Luckily it seems the damage was mostly concentrated on this tow cap. The drivers father said he would cover the repair cost. I can have the part within two days from the kid dealership and I will than need to have it painted. Do you think is the best way to approach this issue?

2023 Kia Sportage X-Line Limited – Intermittent Starting Issue (Clicking Sound, Resets)

Hi everyone,

I have a 2023 Kia Sportage X-Line Limited, and I’ve been experiencing an intermittent starting issue. Sometimes, when I try to start the car, I hear clicking sounds, and everything resets (dash lights flash, electronics reset, etc.). After this happens, the car won’t start unless I use a booster battery.

Here are some details:

  • Happens randomly but more often after short trips (5-10 min).
  • All warning lights appear when the issue occurs.
  • Kia dealership checked the battery and said it’s fine, but they advised me to drive at least 30 minutes per day or let the engine run in parking mode for 30 minutes. I already drive about 30km per day, so this explanation seems odd.
  • History of battery issues: After a 1-month vacation, my car wouldn’t start, and I had to use a booster battery. It then worked fine for 3-4 months. More recently, the Auto Start/Stop sometimes fails to restart the engine at traffic lights unless I manually press the Start button.
  • I recently took another 1-month trip, and now I have to use the booster battery almost every time to start the car.

Has anyone else experienced this issue? Could it be a weak battery, an alternator problem, or something else? Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

does anyone know the part number?

Hello, I'm trying to replace the rear wiper on my 2018 kia rio, hatchback, launch edition trim. I've been to a kia dealership, advanced autoparts, and a nappa today and they've all given me the wrong part number. Not sure where else to look.

Kia k5 2.0 lpi (G4NL) engine heat problem

I have a problem with my K5 2021 (G4NL) the engine temperature. When I stop at a traffic light or anywhere else, the temperature rises and stays at the normal level. But when I start driving, it begins to drop (the engine cools down).

I spoke to my mechanic, and he said the problem is the thermostat. He also told me that something else needs to be replaced along with it. However, I talked to two other mechanics, and they said that’s not true.

Do you think my mechanic is trying to trick me, or is he right? What would you recommend replacing along with the thermostat? What actually needs to be changed?

Thank you very much in advance!

How screwed am I?

Tl;Dr 2016 Sedona burning shitloads of oil and obd has error code p0018

I just bought a 2016 Sedona about a month ago. I had to take it into the shop over the weekend and discovered that it was nearly out of oil (which had been changed less than 2k miles ago when I bought it). Looking back I thought it had quite a bit of exhaust whenever I would start it first thing in the morning. And now the check engine light is on with error code p0018. I'm taking it in to another shop that I trust a little more, but curious if anyone that knows more than me might have an idea about what it might be and how fucked I am.

Quick question (2015 Forte EX Sedan)

I was changing the battery and removed the wrong bolt (not good at car repair) from the positive terminal and lost it. Not sure what size replacement it is. Picture attached. I tried a 12mm and that didn't work, was slightly too small so it doesn't hold it down. Car won't stay running long with it like this.

Beep beep.. Here comes the Lego Kia Stonic

A lot of peers of mine have insulted dear Bumblebee the Stonic and said she looks like a Tonka truck. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a tag with the Tonka logo. So I settled with having a Lego tag and I absolutely LOVE IT! It’s incredibly cute and gives the car so much personality! 🐝

Engine blown

Hi all. My father owns a 2016 Kia Sportage with 140k miles. Unfortunately the engine blew over the weekend. Our mechanic we trust quoted $5-6k to replace with a used engine, or they can scrap it for around $500. My parents are older and this is a fairly significant financial hit to them. My father maintained the car meticulously. I know it’s somewhat older and high miles, but it’s not 20 years old with 200k miles. It seems the car is a complete loss.

Is there anything I’m missing? I assume insurance won’t cover this type of stuff. Just want to check if there is anything else he should be doing. Thanks.

Is the platinum extended warranty worth it?

Buying a Soul soon. I plan on driving the heck out of it (mileage wise) and hitting 100k before the 5 year/60k bumper to bumper is finished. Just wondering how people feel about the extended warranties.

how does my motor sound?

2024 kia forte ex, purchased 1 year ago. seems to run great.

23k km. 4 oil changes so far. Kia Canada recommends an oil change every 6,000 km. my partner was driving down to the States in the summer and I made her get an oil change on it early JIC.

was boosting another car and thought id record it running for fun.

‘24 Sportage XLine - Wiper blade replacement recommend

Not sure who Kia uses, but the front wipers from the factory were streaky within a month. After a year of annoyance, I finally went to AutoZone and they acted like I was asking for some unknown quantity.

Has anyone replaced their Sportage front wipers with a brand that has worked well? Thanks in advance!

Build to buy.

Recently, I was at a dealership and I told them exactly what I wanted and how I wanted my car to look. They told me they don’t have any K5 in stock and they aren’t sure when they will be coming in. Now, I don’t know if this was a dream or not but didn’t car dealers used to build your car to your specifications?

Anyone else here who hate rain sensors and want the good old interval back ?

I wish that rain sensors would just die and stop being produced.

What i REALLY want is a simple interval wiper instead...

and then MAYBE activate it with a rain sensor...

I've had 3 cars now with rain sensor: 1x Renault Megane and 2x Kia Ceed - and none of them have had a rain sensor that actually works.

Many times i need to manually wipe the window because the sensor thinks that everything is fine..

OR it goes bananas while almost no rain is on the screen, which makes the wipers squeek because they are dry.

So all in all i'm controlling the wiper arm just as much as in the old days with interval... maybe even more.

With modern cars, it should be eazy peazy to configure whether the wiper arm + sensor value, controlled the interval or if it's running by sensor.
