Infotainment Screen Issue

This is the infotainment screen for the 2020 Kia Sportage SX. Any idea what could be causing this screen issue? There’s no crack in the screen.

Wiring Diagram for HK system on 2024 Sportage

Im looking for the wiring diagram for the HK system because I want to add a Musway DSP I have from my previous vehicle (Ioniq 5 w Bose). The harness that came with the Musway actually is a match for the HK system but afraid to simply "plug it in" without checking the wiring diagram first.

Anyone have the diagram from the HK Amp? Curious if the pin out is similar to the Sorento amp.

Thanks!

Kia Sportage 2024 Hybrid SXP. No horn honk when double pressing lock button on fob.

Does anyone know if there is a setting for this? I had a Mazda and an Optima and they both honked when I double pressed the lock button. Sometimes I rely on it when I'm not sure where I exactly parked in a lot lol. The only other workround is to press the panic button but I'd rather a short honk as an indicator.

Unimpressed with the Harman Kardon sound system

Recently I test drove a KIA Hybrid with their "premium" Harman Kardon audio (400 Watts and 8 Speakers). I was very unimpressed by the audio quality as many other in this sub. The audio appeared to be a humming sound under level 30. I had to get it all the way up to 50 or more to get to something that appeal to my senses. Before someone questions my hearing ability, two other co-passengers felt the same way as well. For the record, I connected to the car audio from an OnePlus 12 phone over Bluetooth. I tried YouTube (free) and Spotify (free), but none was better than the other.

When I searched in this sub, I found many others testifying the same. Here is what I gathered so far after reading numerous posts:

  • The audio is barely audible below level 30. Between 30 and 40, it is just audible, but not enjoyable. Level 50+ produces somewhat enjoyable sound
  • The rear speakers/subwoofers are barely audible
  • Source of the music matters. For example, it has been reported that lossless Apple Play or Sirius XM produces better sound than YouTube/Spotify/Pandora/MP3 on USB
  • Connection matters. For example, Bluetooth, CarPlay, Android Auto, USB cable connection
  • There has been a firmware update, which sort of addresses the low-volume issue

Ironically, I tested the audio played from Apple Music over Wireless CarPlay on *regular* speakers on an X-Line Gas model. Right below level 30, it produced enjoyable sound. It is also surprising that when I collected feedback about the Sportage SX-Pretige Hybrid, which comes with an HK audio, no single one mentioned the audio issues. Nonetheless, what I'd like to know is about your recent experience (as of May 2024) with the HK system. Did the firmware update (US) even partially solve any of the above issues? If you share your experience, please do mention the following:

  • Volume level
  • Source of music
  • Connection type
  • Firmware version (if possible)

2016 kia optima lx eco projector adjustment and hid question

I placed led bulbs in my Optima haedlamps. They work well except that one of them ( drivers side ) is aimed to the right a bit much. Passenger's side is fine.

How can I adjust the projector to move drivers side more to the left?

Car never need in accident.

Also can you use HID bulbs in a projector lamp?

Interesting result of battery disconnect

Bought my wife a 22 Kia Sorento SX Prestige X-Line back in November of 21. Since then, the car has been perfect. Not a single issue that wasn't operator error, and is a blast to drive.

Well, 3 days ago, my wife came in saying there was something wrong with the electronics. Uh oh... I went out and checked and sure enough, the infotainment center isn't coming on. Pressing of buttons does nothing. Android auto is non responsive. Car runs and drives fine, but no electronics. Damn.

So, I decided to disconnect the positive lead on the battery for a few minutes, and voila! Everything came back up! Success!

But here's the interesting part. The system startup/overall performance is faster than ever now. I mind REALLY fast. I don't know if it's been slowing throughout the last 2.5 years, but the system is very quick now. Almost before my finger is off of the start button, the system is asking which user is driving the car. And after I plug my phone in (Android Auto), it's pulled up my Waze and Audible data on the screen before I even lay the phone down. I never thought the system was slow before, but dang, it blazes now.

Maybe everyone else's system is already running this fast, but ours sure wasn't.

Anyway, thought I'd share.

Oh, the battery disconnect didn't affect anything else in a negative way; she still drives just as well as she always has!

I got knocked out from the raer folding backseat of my Kia Sportage

For gods sake!! Couldnt they do it differently?

I did take out the belt from the plastic conduct and had my face slightly in the car. Then I pulled gently the lever and the backseat flipped so fast I wasnt able to do nothing. The plastic part hit me above my eye and now I look like I had a bar fight last night. Absurd

Wheel options for ‘16 soul ex?

Wife got friendly with a pothole and now find myself in the market for new rubber. Stock is 215/55/17, but when I’m looking online the website databases often list 16” and 18” options for this year/model as well. I found a mounted set of 235/55/18s, they came off a ‘12 sorento

Two questions:

  1. Will they fit?
  2. If not, how is that determined?

Much obliged

Stinger Premium or GT1

Hi, Im looking to buy a Stinger and am in between 2 cars, both 18 models.

Premium: 35k odo at 22.5k GT1: 55k odo at 25k

To my understanding the main difference would be the V6 vs 2.0T engine and while Im not that big into speed I heard good things about the V6 engine of KIA/Hyundai while the Theta engines have a pretty bad rep early on and I experienced it 1st hand with my Sonata 11. So is the engine on the 2.0T better than my old engine or I just need to play it safe and pay more for the V6? Appreciate the feedbacks

Knock sensor fixed itself??

So i have a 2018 Optima EX or FE whatever…and about two months ago (Mid March) I got the infamous P1326 Knock sensor code. Had it towed to my shop, the mechanic put oil in it and says it runs completely fine. He said when I brought it in there was 0 oil on the dipstick. This was strange because I got an oil change within 1500 miles of this happening.

Since I took it home from the mechanic, I’ve monitored the oil in it nearly every couple days and it’s remained full, with the normal discoloration telling me it’s time for an oil change.

My question is, what gives? I have a long distance road trip coming up and I don’t want to drive the car if it’s going to happen again, but I’m a little concerned it might.

**for reference, the past two months have been strictly city driving because I live in a college town , no highway besides short bouts from the far end of town.

Hate the new infotainment

I know I'm late.to the party, but just updated my 2023 Seltos to the new software and away from the old vacuum tube radio. I absolutely hate how small what is currently playing and the album art is. It's extremely annoying to put it as the smallest font and furthest away. Anyone know of a setting to make it bigger? If that's not possible, can I revert this software update via USB?

EX lane keep assist vs SX lane keep assist

So living in Southern California we obviously don’t have the most identifiable highway divider lines, but sometimes it really feels like the car has trouble maintaining or kind of does a bouncing back-and-forth between the lanes which I think makes other drivers uncomfortable to be honest. So I’ve considered the ex that uses the camera up by the rearview mirror may perform less, well than the SX which has cameras in both side mirrors as well and I’m wondering if any Kia people here can tell me if the SX level models have better lane keep assist because of the presence of the two extra cameras on the side mirrors. Apologies, I forgot to mention it is a Sorento EX Hybrid.

AC Compressor replacement cost for Sorneto

Hey, kia sorento 2013 owner here, 4 cyl 3.5 engine car. My ac compressor has gone out and needs replacement, asap considering I'm in south Florida. I've called around local shops and the nearest dealership and from the shops gotten very high prices which I expect, or low prices that kind of make me suspicious, and so far kia missed my called and I have yet to get anything back after my voicemail. I'm sure it's location dependent but does anyone know about how much a kia dealership would charge for the part, labor, etc for a 2013 sorneto's ac compressor? Especially for those who have dealt with this problem. Thanks.

I wish we never bought a Kia..(2017 Kia Sedona, SC location with 6 person family)

Edit: Not hating on Kia. Hating on the situation that is our own.

Family of 6, 4 kids ranging of ages 7 months to 7.5. We needed a new car and especially a mini van because of our families size and I was tired of climbing over 3rd row seater SUVs.

We moved across the country in a 2001 Yukon Denali from WA state to SC and packed everything we could in it plus our two cats. We loved that vehicle. I (30F) learned a LOT about vehicles and how to fix and maintain them working on our Yukon over the years. That thing was solid and fast too. But it started finally crapping out and at the time last summer, we only had one vehicle. The constant worry about it not running and my husband not getting to work or us stuck in it broken down on the side of the road was a valid fear and caused a lot of stress for months. We put a lot of money (2k to be exact) in trying to fix it and kept getting the worst mechanics since we hadn't found a decent one in the area yet.

So when we went to the third dealership and they offered the 2017 Kia Sedona, and offered us a good deal (or so we thought in that state of mind), we took it. My 14 year old cousin was watching our kids at home and we were on a time limit and just so exhausted and we took the shitty deal. I wish we didn't.

While I'm thankful we have a smooth ride, while I'm thankful we have a vehicle that fits and I have gratitude for her, we over pay and our interest rate sucks. We plan on refinancing come the 1 year mark in July. But our car payments plus insurance on a Kia is terrible.

This is where I wish we did more deep diving rather then just surface level reviews and specs.. first of all, no body mentioned online the cost for insurance on a Kia and how limited you are because nobody wants to insure Kias. Insurance is already high in our state because SC drivers are almost like California drivers. It's wild here. I've had to adapt 😂

Secondly, the theft. Ours has theft protection but still that anxiety is like okay. That's there. Don't really see that as much over in our state but STILL..

AND last but not least, what we owe vs what it's really worth. We still owe 17k and it's worth maybe 15k? And high interest doesn't help the pay off.

There's also some weird mechanical issues I've seen others post about where shifting from 1st to second has a kick sometimes, not all of the time but sometimes. And it will jerk as it does that. I've noticed it on hotter days. And the dealership can't do a single thing about it because nothing pops up for diagnostics. Again, I've seen others complaining about this.

I can't do a transmission flush on it because it doesn't have a normal dipstick. I can't log into the system no matter how many apps I download and try to plug my phone in to connect. It just won't register me so I can't even run a diagnostic on it. And I strongly stronglyyyyy dislike the computer aspect of newer cars. I miss the simplicity of the Yukon. I miss being able to fix it without issue.

My best friends husband over here owns a mechanical shop and so he's going to do our tune up and transmission flush and oil change because to get into a Kia dealer?! Forget it.. they want you to drop it off and wait hours and sometimes keep it overnight. We have two vehicles now (bought a 2007 Scion manual which I love because it reminds me of the Scion XD I used to drive and it's our little zoomer car) but it doesn't fit the whole family. So if we have to drop the van off, it's a huge pain in the ass. Kia mechanics are kind of meh too.

Just a rant today. Again, I appreciate the van for what it's done and I do have things I love about her. But out of desperation we made a decision. We have to live with it and I wish we could trade this in and not be negative equity or something, but it just feels like we are trapped.

My husband makes 75k a year and is about to promote to 90k+ within this coming year and I received scholarship funding in our state for massage therapy school that I'll start in January and I'll be making good income on the side by November of 2025, so I do see a silver lining in the sense that hopefully by then, we can have better financing and pay it off quicker eventually.. so for now we will deal with it.

Thanks for listening to my rant. If anyone is in a similar situation, feel free to share. Especially if you have a Kia Sedona that has the same issue. If you have any advice feel free to share and I'll definitely hear you out!

Theft settlement/software upgrade and aftermarket remote start

Hi all. I have a 2020 Kia Sportage I bought in 2022 literally right before the Tiktok craze. So I bought it used. It actually had a few aftermarket upgrades installed by the previous owner including remote start. I had to do some investigating because the carfax report listed it as a security system, but the dealer didn’t know what I was talking about when I asked. I tracked down the auto shop that installed it and they stated it was remote start. I asked if it was any kind of security/theft deterrent and they said no. Frankly I’m not well versed on car stuff so I have no idea. It’s not a push button, it’s just programmed into the FOB and there is a blinking receiver on the windshield.

I’ve gotten multiple letters from Kia saying I’m eligible for the software upgrade but when I mention remote start was installed after market the dealer has said they can’t do the upgrade.

I did buy a steering wheel lock before any software upgrade came out.

I’m trying to figure out what to do in this scenario. I’m eligible for reimbursement of the lock but I think that’s it? Does any one have any idea if an aftermarket remote start is going to be equivalent to the software upgrade in terms of protecting my car from theft? I can’t seem to get a straight answer to this. The dealer said they can take out the remote start and then do the upgrade but I’m not sure what the difference between the two things is (in terms of security anyway).

What interest rate are you all getting?

I am in the market to buy my first car and I reallly want to buy Sportage 2024 SX Prestige Hybrid but interest rates are too high.

Thought I would rather buy Mazda CX-50 since interest rate is much lower compared to Kia.

Is there a possibility Kia can offer near to 3% interest? How much rate did you guys get?
