Hello! I am currently trying to find a good budget kart to buy, maybe under 7000$ if it is possible. Could someone help me find one?
Hello! It was my first time karting on a proper indoor track and I decided to do 3 rounds. My best lap time is 58sec while the rest of my lap times were somewhere around that number. I was just curious if this is an okay time for a beginner such as myself and I would appreciate any tips on how I can improve!
Hi all, I think a lot of people here have always asked the question of how much it costs to go karting (just owner karts), and probably even how much the National level costs. Well look no further, my dad has sent me how much my season this year cost (just karting related expenses for 125cc senior, no flights, hotel, food etc. is included in this and figures are rough estimates as my dad doesn't have all the costs (fuel and such).
FWT 2024 (3 races with PSL)
- $10,000/race (includes everything, tent, coaching mechanic)
- Could be wrong on this number but about $1250/race in entry fees
- $500 for practice tires
Total: $34,250
WSK (2 Euro Series (both done with Birel), and 1 Open Series (done with CRG))
- $15,000/race (same deal as PSL above)
- Could be wrong again but I think $1300/race in entry fees
- 8 sets of tires per race ($190/set)
Total: $53,460
Club Racing
- Don't have an exact breakdown but about $30,000 for 15 races (new frame, tuned engines, tires)
Overall Season Cost: $117,710 (again not all costs are included so the number is for sure higher).
Not owned by me, but Pro Rental America is hosting their first event at The Speed Factory in Greenville, SC in March of 2025! It’s owned by Aidan Kennedy and Jeff Lund who both have experience in the international rental karting scene whether in KWC for example, and are committed to making PRA fair to all and limit kart parity as much as possible
Hoping this gains some ground, just wanted to put the word out for all the other indoor bandits out there!
I’m assuming most GT and open wheel racing drivers came from 2 stroke engines, but is there any way someone in an lo206 could make it there? I know about the ignite racing ladder but I haven’t seen any updates about it on their website. So is 2 stroke racing pretty much required to go pro?
A lightly used no bends cracks or welds Kosmic otk go kart 2022 ka 100 for 5,500usd the kart is fully set up and ready to race it comes with multiple spare parts and tires.
Felt like I did not come down on him and he just looped me around. Would love opinions.
This might sound weird, but since i started karting and doing races so often, my mind is only focused on racing, and i find everything else boring and i dont know what to do everyday when i come home from work, i cant think of anything, i have a simulator with simucube gear, and a pc, but its boring now suddenly.... now im just waiting to kart again, and life is boring without it... any advice???
Thanks again!
Anyone have the circuit map for K1 in Essex, Maryland?
Should the driver in front have went down the track to make room for the driver off the track or does the driver on the track have the right to the line he wants since he is in front? Basically, is this a dirty move or not?
Looking for recommendations on LO206 engine experts in the North East. Looking for an offseason tune-up, and would prefer to not have to ship my motor out.
Thank you!
Does anyone know if Sk-6 an CK-6 cheek pads are compatible between helmets? Or does anyone know if there is any other ARAI cheek pad is compatible with SK-6 helmet?
I have my clutch off to grease the bushing. Wondering how you all service your clutch. My process is to lightly clean up the drum with some scotchbright until clean. Then take a rag and wipe the shoes with some brake cleaner. However you can visually see the shoes are still dirty with a small amount of contamination from the bushing throwing grease.
Should I clean the shoes with emery cloth? What about applying WD-40 afterwards to the shoes? I read that you’re supposed to do that. True or not?
We all know about electric rentals. Tried them myself couple of times, those were quite fun. However, that lead me to a thought, how viable would be a proper racing chassis with an electric powerplant for track days and some experiments. Recently I've seen a Dino rental with an electric engine at my local track, that had not one of those rental powerplants, but some sort of an electric motorcycle-derived thing with about 28 HP, and that thing was insanely fast, maybe even faster than Sodi Sport with Rotax engine on our track. So, I want to hear your opinions on mounting something similar on a proper racing chassis. Maybe you know some guides how I can build it, and you can share?
Some additional info:
Thanks in advance.
Hello, hope you all are well
I got an opportunity to help out as a mechanic at a karting team, but I know very little about the mechanics of a kart.
I am going to help the team out to learn about the mechanics, but I don't want to arrive there knowing absolutely nothing.
Does anyone know of a YouTube series I can follow, or something else on the internet, which could help me?
Thank you
Don’t have many pics but it has a fresh Honda cr125 on it and it’ll fly
Basically title. Still new to owner karting, running lo206. When I slow down and decelerate from high RPMS the engine makes a popping/ backfiring noise. Drives completely fine and I don’t notice any issues other than that. Someone at the track said it could be due to the air fuel ratio not being right and I can adjust that in the carb. I’m trying to research more info on google, any extra help is appreciated.
Edit: based on feedback sounds like it’s normal which I’m glad to hear. I only asked cause I could have sworn that it wasn’t really happening the first times I went out, but I could be wrong. Thanks for the help and putting my mind to ease.
Hello everyone.
I recently bought a kart with an iame puma 85cc engine, which has not been running for 1 year according to the previous owner. There is an electric starter, but unfortunately the engine does not start, let me explain:
I overhauled the entire carburetor, nothing to report. I changed the entire gasket kit.
Fuel supply is ok
The spark plug sparks, but gets dirty very quickly (it is full of gasoline, and also black), but that does not prevent it from sparking according to my tests.
Engine compression seems good
I tried to make carburetor adjustments but it didn't work.
However I sometimes manage to start it, there are explosions but only if I hold the electric starter. If I let go, the engine stalls. I tried the start pilot, and I also did tests holding or not holding the accelerator. The times I accelerate, gasoline comes out through the carburetor air intake.
When the engine is running while holding the electric starter and I accelerate, it does not turn the wheels.
Thank you to those who help me, and above all ask me questions!
You might have seen my question on American bolt pattern in Magnesium wheels. For those of you doing Roadrace in the high HP classes (125-150 Open) are you using Magnesium and are they much better than Alu for Roadrace high speeds?
Does old 6003 unipro sensors will fit and work on newer 6005 unipro ?
I know I could buy hubs with euro pattern but would rather not.
I’m allowed to go to one or the other which one do I pick was gonna go buckmore but it’s sold out😔😔
I’ve been karting for two years now and feel I’m ready to race against competition and would like to know what are the most competitive or best leagues to race in from California any Information helps
New to karting on a used Tillotson 225 with 10 hours on it, after 4 hours of driving the shop is saying the clutch needs new shoes and springs: is my son doing something wrong? He definitely isn't braking/throttling simultaneously, someone suggested maybe him being underweight? Any advice is greatly appreciated 🙏
