/r/JewishSocialists
A place for Jewish socialists and I guess non Jews who want to hang out with Jewish socialists
"Jewish life as it currently exists under capitalism is not freedom, and Jewish collective efforts to realize the prophetic vision of a just world will only be fully realized through socialism."
Some tentative guidelines as this sub gets started:
Debate in good faith and do not judge anyone's Jewishness or religiosity or lack thereof.
We reject Zionism as a path to Jewish liberation.
Believe in the ultimate victory of the proletariat and the era of a classless society.
Anarchists, communists, any stripe of anti-capitalist is welcome.

Hello all,
I am a psychotherapist working for the NHS in London and was hoping some of you could fill out the below survey? Myself and a patient were wanting to analyse the cultural/ religious pressure she feels around various aspects her of life. We would really appreciate any responses
JVP is the largest Jewish leftist organization in the US, but I wish we had more "flavors" of Judaism represented in it. I think the Rabbinical Council is comprised entirely of Reconstructionists right now.
I know there are anti-Zionist Reform, Orthodox*, and even Conservative Jews out there; how do we make JVP more theologically inclusive?
^((* And to clarify I mean leftist Orthodox, not NK and Satmar.))
i recently found the sub mentioned in the title & haf been following for a little bit, but then i just found this sub today. i noticed it was bigger, so curious i tried to compare/contrast. judging by the sidebars, r/jewishleft is something of a bigger tent to the point that they accept zionism, while here it's explicitly anti-zionist & dsa-affiliated. however - i know sidebars can sometimes be super outdated. are my impressions accurate? any thoughts from people who are or have been active in both?
Hi! I am a Jewish high school student currently enrolled in AP Research. I am conducting a quantitative study that compares different religions’ opinions of xenotransplantation. Xenotransplantation is the transfer of an organ from one species to another. There have been a few successful xenotransplants inserting pig hearts and kidneys into the human body. I would like to gather multiple diverse perspectives on xenotransplantation from a Jewish perspective. The survey will take 5-10 minutes and remain anonymous for all participants. I went to shabbat services for the first time in a while at a self labeled progressive shul. it was a unusual service which was fine w me but what was not fine w me was googling the rabbi afterwards to find out he had received medals from the department of defense for his tenure there. I looked more into the temples website and it's clear they are friendly w the Israeli state.
I want to connect w local like minded jews but it's hard for me to do so in these weird neo lib spaces. should I forget the yearning for Jewish comradery and just join traditional leftist advocacy groups that help the houseless and working class ? I hope my line of inquiry this makes sense fuck12
So I am a non-jewish leftist and I want to be an ally to the Jewish community in the face of undeniable rising anti-semitism.
However, zionism is an often contentious topic between the left and the Jewish community (I have posted on r/Jewish about this before, which was a mistake and I apologize for discomfort caused).
But I do want to understand the perspective of jewish socialists. What can someone like me to do to help the jewish community, and how should I address the concept of zionism when it comes up in discussions?
Trying to learn, so place correct me if I got anything wrong
Also happy Hanukkah!
Let's look back at some memorable moments and interesting insights from last year.

hey sorry folks. Had no idea shit was set to restricted, but I was made aware so now it's rectified. Zionists, messianic jews, etc please continue to leave us alone.
I would like to reiterate that I'm really not feeling like doing any real moderating, I ended up with this sub by accident. So if you wanna help out just let me know.
Hey folks- moderator of a fellow socialist subreddit here, r/Greenandpleasant . We've been having a lot of comments lately referring to the royals, lords, and general rich arsebiscuits as "lizards". When asked about it they generally explain they mean they seem cold and inhuman and just too distant, but I'm distinctly under the impression it's antisemitism fresh from Icke. Is it purely antisemitism, or can it be meant as something else? What exactly is the skinny on the whole "lizard" thing?
This week’s Parshah was Leviticus 1:1-5:26. It talks about the process and regulations concerning sacrifice: how to prepare the different kinds of sacrifice, what situations require a sacrifice, and what sort of sacrifice is appropriate for each situation.
I thought of some discussion questions, but feel free to propose your own or just share your thoughts on the text:
What do you think this passage tells us about sacrifice as a concept, how can that relate to our modern lives as both Jews and socialists?
What do you think this portion tells us about the lives and culture of the ancient Israelites?
Would anybody be interested in a regular to discuss the weekly parshah? I’d love to see this group be more active and thought this might help! This week’s was Exodus 38:21-40:38
