I have an insane jellycat collection of over 1000. After moving from the UK to Australia and having to leave the majority of my collection behind in storage (because I just couldn’t bring it all), I was extremely disheartened but figured I’d just continue to collect in Australia in the meantime.

But

1. the prices here are absolutely extortionate and not even justifiable when you convert and consider tax and shipping etc.

2. we just don’t have the same range available here and while I have friends in the UK who are absolutely amazing and will pick up and store jellycats for me. It’s a lot to ask of them constantly. Especially given the extent of my former addiction.

All these things considered, the excitement has been completely removed from collecting.

My 14 year old son recently expressed that he misses me customising jellycats and always having dye baths around the house, which took me aback. But again; this isn’t something I can do any longer, because without the ready availability of second hand jellycats, I can no longer dye and customise.

There was a point I had a box of 100 tagged tiny cream bunnies all to be customised into rainbow bunnies for pride month 😭😭

I miss the creative aspect of it just as much as the collecting aspect of it.

Not much point to my post but to rant.

I really hope that things change one day and jellycat decides to set up in Aus too so we don’t have to deal with import fees and limited selections etc but for the meantime, I think this is the end of the road for me

so, the amore black cat has been my dream jellycat ever since I started collecting, and I've wanted it even more since my irl kitty passed away in july. The amore cat is literally him in plush form, and i really wanted it as a cuddle buddy. A new listing just popped up on mercari today for $85 (the lowest price I've seen one for!) and I bought it almost immediately because I was worried it would sell out. I'm really excited to get the jelly and I know I'm going to love him, but I'm feeling quite guilty over having spent so much money on a single plush. :( have any of you ever felt like this?

I’ve signed up for in stock notifications on the jellycat website for Cecile chicken months ago … do they usually come back into stock? Can’t find one anywhere and I’m a bit dubious of vinted/ebay. 🐓 Am based in the UK!
