Fine COLD start rough WARM start, what gives?!

2014 Jeep Patriot Lat 2WD 2.4 engine 130k

Starts fine when cold, drive for about 30 minutes and turn off. Start again and its a very rough start for about 10 secs if I drive longer than stated then the rough start is even longer like about 30 secs and hardly accelerates not much power and feels like its gonna die on me after those shaky tense moments its fine- it will run fine idle ok- its just on warm/hot starts. First it did not throw codes and now it does. The ol/ P0303 and now a P02015. Crazy thing is, it doesnt throw codes for a bad injector or anything of sorts. Anyone have any experience with this or idea as to whats wrong - before i start changing Injectors, sensors, IMRC etc?

My check engine light turns on when I use my blinkers and only when I turn on my blinkers

I had a problem with the spark plugs awhile back which caused the car to make a rattling sound but there was nothing wrong with my spark plugs so the mechanic changed some of the wiring and it the rattling stopped but months after I went to turn on my blinke and the check engine light turned on and if I drive without turning on a blinker the light won’t come on I think it’s a faulty ground issue but I can’t find anyone with this problem I see a lot of people have issues with there wires rotting but idk help please

Battery corrosion

Hey guys, I have a 2014 jeep patriot that has really bad corroded battery terminals. This isn't the first time. I'm pretty sure I paid to replace terminal by brakeplus a couple years ago. Now I'm on thebside for the rode trying to start my car after I cleaned the terminals. Thanks for any help

Has anyone had their Patriot ceramic coated ? How much did it cost and is it worth it or am I better off just buying a wipe on wipe off ceramic coating product that lasts for around 12 months for $40 …

Gas Gauge Problem

So I have a 2015 Latitude with 160k miles put on it. Had it brand new at 14 miles. Now the problem I seem to being having is when I get down to just around 1/4 tank left my gas gauge at times will drop down to empty throwing the gas light on and if you give it a minute it will move back to where it should be. I've always tracked the miles I've drove with one of my trip meters so even with this problem I have an idea how much further I can go before having to fill up. I've put up with this problem for the probably close to two years. Again not getting it fixed because I've tracked my mileage.

So question is has anyone else ever had this problem and what would the possible solutions for fixing it. If its something that would means getting into the fuel tank then I'll have to wait till there is small amount of fuel left just to make it easier.

So... are there perhaps any interchangeable parts between a 2010 Chevy Malibu & a 2007 Jeep Patriot?

I have the opportunity to scrap out some parts from my friends Malibu. I know Jack diddly about vehicles, but I do know I like free stuff. This may sound like a bimbo question but just so yall know, I'm ready for the roast of my ignorance if that's what it comes down to. 😄

Jeep Patriot Metal circle plate missing

My apologies for the bad quality photo, it’s the only one that had the metal circle thing (says 4x4). Does anyone know where to get replacements? And what’s the correct name for it? It somehow fell off my car, or perhaps someone scraped it off😞

I’m conflicted

Hello everyone,

I wanted to begin with saying that I love my car. I got her three years ago, and it was such an upgrade from my old one that I truly thought I hit the jackpot when I got my 2016 jeep patriot. She came with 136,000 km, no issues (besides the brakes and rotors I replaced within 5 months of having it) and as much AC I could have ever imagined. She was luxurious.

However, I think our time with my partner in crime, miss Blackberry, is coming to an end. I’m conflicted if I should cut my losses and sell her, or keep fighting for her to keep up with me.

I currently work 2 jobs, I go to school full time and go for random drives when I need to clear my head. However, I’ve had 2 engine codes always on my dash since I got her; the first being my catalytic converter, and the second being my o2 sensors. I was told that those codes were pretty much harmless, and that I could continue my journey with Blackberry.

And so I did, she was reliable and sexy, I maintained my maintenance- only to come to find out that I was heading straight into a shitstorm of issues.

First, my alternator blew out after a long drive back from Toronto literally the next day. I had it replaced, but she seemed off still. A couple weeks later my friend was driving my car when all of the sudden, it misfires in the middle of the road. We pull over, and determine that indeed, the code read as a misfire. I change my spark plus and replace my coil #4.

Cool, that’s done with, I shouldn’t have any more problems, right? Wrong, I was so delusion-ally wrong.

My car was either burning through oil, or leaking. We found a leak in the gasket pan, I replaced it. Turns out, it was leaking and burning at the same time, no bueno.

Fast forward to this year, I don’t know what to do. I could handle the issues before, because they were months apart from each other and I had at least some savings to take care of them, but currently that isn’t the case.

My car misfires again along with my throttle body completely shutting down (I didn’t know this at first, I was confused). I had to pull over for an emergency stop in the middle of the road- I heard knocking, my car was violently shaking, and my engine light, my traction control, and throttle body lights were screaming at me. Awesome.

My uncle comes and takes a look at it, clears some codes, and said I could drive it again- being ignorant, I did and went to work. I had to pull off to the side of the road again because my car is shaking. Tow it to a mechanic, and he said my throttle body needs to be replaced and my car misfired again. I had it all replaced, yet again.

However, not even a week out of the mechanic shop, I’m driving and all of the sudden my rpm’s aren’t working as they usually do- ALMSOT as if there was some resistance to accelerating, then my engine code isn’t blinking, but just screaming at me. No codes come on when I try scanning it. Nothing, but I’m pretty sure it’s misfiring again.

Now, I’m told my front AND back wheel bearing need to be replaced (front one being done ASAP, back one later when I can replace it)

So… should I cut my losses and sell it as is? Or should I bite my tongue and give them my credit card. I don’t want to pay for a whole new catalytic converter, it’ll be more to replace it than what the car is actually worth.

Used 2015 Jeep Patriot High Altitude- looking for feedback

I’m looking for a reliable 4 wheel drive that will get me to and from work mostly. I found a 2015 Jeep Patriot High Altitude that’s used for sale:

No accidents and maintained.

Light bars suggestions ?

I’m looking to put light bars facing frontwards and backwards on the patty, I know the front bars are doable but I’m not sure if back light bars would be. Does anyone have any suggestions or recommendations for some? Any special modifications for the light bars?

Engine will start but only every 2-10 times

Hey all, so I've got a funny little issue with my manual 2011 Patriot. I first started noticing an issue a year or two ago, wherein the engine would not engage or attempt to turn over at all and I'd have to try again, whereupon it usually started right up. Recently, however, it just up and quit on me. Nothing would get it to turn over at all, and the electronics went haywire. Thinking electronics were the issue, I replaced the battery. The electronics were no longer doing weird things, but the car still wouldn't turn over. So, I replaced the ignition...still nothing. Just finished replacing the starter...and now we're getting somewhere. It will now turn over once every couple of tries but still does nothing for the majority of the time. What else could be an issue here? Does the starter just need to get situated? It did start repeatedly with no issue after being warmed up for a few minutes and driving it around, but after sitting, it goes back to being finnicky. Just went out and started it to try it out after about six hours of sitting and it started multiple times in a row, so that's good. I'm still gonna post this thread just to make sure I have some ideas if it quits on me again tomorrow morning.

So, to be clear, I have done the following fixes:

  1. Replaced the ignition switch
  2. Replaced the battery
  3. Installed a brand new starter

Any thoughts on why this could be continuing to happen?

Transmission whine

Hello, just wondering if there’s something I can/should do about this issue, so a little context, when I go to work it’s about a 45 min drive there and then another back, the trip into work is mostly down hill so I don’t have this issue then, also the mornings are cooler. But on the way back when I’m going uphill for a while and having to drive the car a little harder, it starts to make this whining noise like in the video and it’s kinda concerning.

The noise really only happens when the cars gets driven hard and goes away once the car cools down the next day. My Jeep currently has 107k and last had the trans serviced at 79k due to whining constantly, after that service it’s been silent for about 20k miles and now started slowly creeping up.

Is it just time to service the transmission already or It is this something worse ? Also wondering if anyone had/has this issue too.

2015 Lightning bolt on dash

car has been wrecked. engine runs weird, car runs weird. Lightning bolt flashing on dash, no speedometer.

Head Gasket

2014 Patriot 2.0L with around 90K miles - Constant running hot and overheating problems. Had a mechanic tell me it's likely a hairline crack in the head gasket. Waiting on quotes from some places for replacement. Is it worth the effort and price to replace the head gasket? A lot of shops are telling me they won't do the work & would rather replace the entire engine. Has anyone had similar experiences? Thoughts and opinions are appreciated

What’s the fix?

I scanned my 2007 manual transmission Jeep Patriot these codes showed up. Do I have to replace the catalytic converter for code P0420? Or what do you think is causing the issues? Any advice will be appreciated.

I’m no longer a patriot owner :(

My 2015 Patriot is done. My transmission went out, and it’s not worth the cost to fix it. I bought it new in 2015, and I’m only at 120,000 miles, and it just sucks. I loved my jeep. Time for a new chapter, I guess.

Floor mats

I’m looking for fitted rubber floor mats that have the Jeep logo on them. I’ve searched online and the only ones that I can find are the WeatherTech ones. I have a 2014 Patriot. There are ones on Amazon but you have to cut them to fit and I’d rather not have to do that.

Do these exist or should I just get the WeatherTech ones? If you have the WeatherTech ones, how do you like them?

My Car was shaking when i give my Co-worker a ride

Hey guys so tonight i gave my co-worker a ride home he is 260lb man and its my 1st time giving a ride to a person with this weight others are just light weight 180lb below maybe, so i gave him a ride, and when we driving and accelerating and reaching 45mph my car suddenly start shaking so bad that we thought that my front passenger tire is flat so we stop to a nearly gas station to check and no flat tire and we thought its because of the ice so we took out the ice and drive again but it still shaking badly when reaching 45mph and up, when im driving i never experience this, this the the 1st time it happens and if i didn't gave him a ride i will never know so my question is whats wrong with my car? Because i know for that fact that it shouldn't shake like that even he is 260lb, after i drop him off, i drove home and it didn't shake anymore, so what you guys think is the problem of my car so that i can take it to the shop to fix it? Thank you in advance

Swap a throttlebody for 2011–2014 patriot

What cars have a throttlebody that will fit a 2011 or 2014 jeep patriot? The sensor has to be six prong straight across.
