The "Where can I find" poll and another mod

With the results of the poll, we're going to start up the weekly pinned posts again where we can get these types of posts in one area instead of all over the sub. It should make it better for the ones requesting so their posts don't get lost in the shuffle. First post will start 11/1/24 and will be pinned at the top.

I think we need another mod as well. I'm the only active mod. Message me if interested and if you have any experience moderating. Experience with automod a plus.

Joshu Seven (2017) - thoughts on it?

https://preview.redd.it/d5lwpp85iwxd1.png?width=800&format=png&auto=webp&s=433f8fe488194aa2ac88571db58b502c0fce22ca

I bingewatched yesterday this short one for two reason: Kaji Meiko - the whole show has several nods to her iconic role/movie/character Sasori/Scorpion -, and Atarashii Gakko no Leaders who's the ending song Dokubana is, and who has a cameo near the end. I ended up liking the show itself beside these two aspect. So I'm wondering about the thoughts of those who watch more j-dramas.

In movies there's always that cute radio station that talk about things going on like exams are coming up. Does anyone know a English radio station like this.

I really love those high school dramas. And the female lead usually listens to a radio station on her way to school. The radio station just talks casually and I would love to listen to something like it. Sorry If my explanation was bad.

Jdrama recommendations please

Hi guys

Can I get some recommendations on some jdrama’s that might peak my interest?

A little backstory of myself, I watch and read anime/manga most of my life and a genre I always go towards is romcom’s a lot. I’ve watched near almost all romcoms in anime format and a sizable chunk in manga. When I was in highschool my Japanese teacher put up a few different jdramas while I was in class like

  1. My boss my hero
  2. GTO
  3. Hana Yori dango

In my own time after watching 1-2 episodes of each of these in class I binged the rest of the episodes and enjoyed them immensely. I’ve watched Hana kimi which was on Crunchyroll at one point and also enjoyed it. I think out of the 4 I’ve seen I really liked GTO and Hana yori dango the most. For GTO I really liked onizuka’s personality and morales while for Hana yori dango I liked how much of a badass makino was throughout the show and even she has a vulnerable side when the going gets tough with a bit of a prince like character sweeping in to save her.

I think I’ve watched a few episodes of a show called coffee prince with my sister but I didn’t like it much when I was young, maybe my opinions might change if I give it a second shot but otherwise there is 1 other k drama I watched but it was about 6 boys I think and they all have to live together and I think they all compete for one of them gets a inheritance or rich if they complete some objective or mission. That’s all I can think of in terms of dramas I watched.

Please give me any recommendations if you think I would like it.

Thank you!

Jdrama's that are like the movies lovesick Ellie and yet you are so sweet

I finished watching yet you are so sweet and would love to watch a drama like it. I loved the storyline, but would like a drama because it lasts longer. Anything like lovesick Ellie or yet you are so sweet would be great. It can be a kdrama, Jdrama or even a cdrama. Thx

After watching Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyōshi (S2 also over!), what to watch??

Please recommend something that is as interesting as its first season!!!! I don’t care what’s the storyline - but something with a mix of comedy, romance and intrigue! Preferably on Viki or Iqiyi. Anything, just anything that doesn’t make want to skip or stop watching the show.

Help finding Romance Drama

Can someone help me with the name of a japanese romance drama. I think it was an older woman younger male drama. I don't remember what my impressions of it were but I remember some scenes and want to check it out again. The FL is an office lady and the ML was younger and did some maintenance work on the plants at her office building(I believe he's like a contractor, there are scenes at his workplace where they have plants and theres girl that likes him). There is an elevator scene where it opens and the coworkers see them together(they were keeeping their connection a secret). I think there's also a scene where he waits for her outside her apartment building. I vaguely remember this drama. I'm not even sure if I liked it or not but it's been bugging me not knowing what it was.

Anyone know this drama?

There is this Japanese series I’m trying to remember. It’s similar to “Love Last Forever” or another name for it, “Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo.” The female lead is a nurse in training, and she has these three friends; I believe one’s a male also. She is married to this popular doctor (the male lead) in the facility (not sure if they were married the entire time), but people gossip and say that he’s married. People try to figure it out, and I remember that she was not good at giving needles, and that’s what their “test” was on. She kept practicing, and another part was while they were gossiping; she either revealed it to her friends or when he walked in right after with her purse and gave it to her, saying that she had left it, and they realized that she was his wife. Or, while they were gossiping, they didn’t believe her, and her male friend and her two other female friends liked him in a crush/fan girl way also (everyone did because he was pretty popular). I don’t remember it being a second couple, but it could possibly be. The entire show is mainly set in the hospital and slightly around outside (if this helps). I don’t think it’s a super plot twist or a serious series. I believe the male lead is cold/not that emotional, and she’s really bright and positive, similar to the leads in “Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo” (Love Last Forever). I’m not so sure, though, so don’t quote me on that since I vividly remember! The entire show isn’t centered around their marriage, I believe, and people finding out. I just remember that in an episode/part, I thought it was “Koi wa Tsuzuku yo Doko Made mo” (Love Last Forever) and watched it to the end, realizing this wasn’t the series at all since they’re not married, and her guy friend and other friends in the series don’t like her boyfriend in a super crush way. The guy friend dates his sister, and although she’s clumsy at first, they didn’t do tests and stuff as training; they were just called “rookies” and had more or less shadowing experiences. In the series I’m referring to, it’s a big thing in their training since I believe she’s also trying to get into either a college or a hospital (I don’t remember). I do remember when she’s not good at giving needles, she practices often, and her friends and husband try to help her (I think she passes; I don’t remember).

Can you help me find an older drama where a woman steals a bunch of money and opens a hostess bar

Hello! I watched this drama when I was younger but did not really understand what was going on at all because the subtitles were in Chinese.

From what I recall:

In the opening scene a young woman stole a giant black bag of money and almost gets hit by a car. The person driving the car is the male lead. Young woman continues to run away. The young woman is the female lead who uses this money to open a hostess bar (everyone called her "ma ma"). I don't know most of the plot due to the language barrier, but it seems the male lead was tasked to track her down (I think he is part of the people who she stole from) but he also fell in love with her. He definitely caught her toward the end, but I don't remember the ending either.

The money may have come from some sort of blackmail, but I am not certain.

Help me find this DRAMA about a woman eating food!??

So Im a veteran Jdrama fan, been watching since 2004.

I know all the popular titles old and new etc

Yet this one drama.... its printed in my memory bank but I can never find it, not that I want to watch it.

So back in 2016, Me and my mates went Amsterdam during winter. During our coach rides I had to charge my phone and all my other devices were dead.

My mate invited one of his uni student friend at the time, he was a friendly guest, he let me borrow his tablet (which was his sisters originally) and there was a few movies and shows that were mostly watched by me already. The wifi was bad to stream anything.

There was ONLY ONE show on the tablet, that I ofcourse never watched. The title was in Japanese text. So I never knew its name.

My mates sister only added Ep.1

The show follows an office woman. After work she goes to grill place and eats salmon with Sake to drink. We see her enjoying her meal. She then goes to another place and gets another meal and more sake.

Not its not a vlog. I know this doesnt sound like it has any plot BUT this was honeslty the entire episode.

Its not a show I care about but after many years its the nostalgia factor thats killing me.

I cant ask my mates old uni friend who I never seen since that trip and I’m not really in touch with my friend anymore.

It would feel odd to suddenly start a conversation just to ask what show was playing on his friend’s sister’s iPad back in 2016.

Help
