/r/InternationalWomen
InternationalWomen is a sub for women from all over the world, where we can discuss and share topics that don't necessarily get picked up in the main women-oriented subreddits, which tend to focus heavily on US-central topics. US women are still welcome here.

Across the world 130 million girls ages 10-19 are not in school, particularly in countries affected by conflict. This period of adolescence is crucial to the development of their physical, emotional, and social changes. The girls who are not in school are particularly vulnerable to HIV/AIDs, child, early and forced marriage, and other forces of violence which are detrimental to their futures. Girls who remain in school are more likely to live longer, marry later, have healthier children, and as adults earn an income to support their families. Furthermore, secondary education and empowerment have proven to correlate with economic and social progress. The achievement of gender equality in both access to and quality of education, contributes to economic growth and development which results in lower risks for violence and instability.
Dear poets of /r/InternationalWomen,
I'm from a writers’ resources company called Winning Writers. Part of our mission is to find and promote voices and themes underrepresented in publishing, including (but of course not limited to) racial, cultural, national, religious, gender/sexual identity, body positive, and [dis]abled. We are interested primarily in the representation of the voices/themes in the poetry, rather than the identity of the writer. The Tom Howard/Margaret Reid Poetry Contest we are running right now offers two first prizes of $2,000 each. Ten honorable mentions will receive $100 each, and the top twelve entries will all be published on our site. The contest is international and the deadline is September 30. I’m posting here specifically because our long term goal is to change the composition of our entry pool to include more entries featuring diverse characters and themes. These voices need to be heard, and we are actively reaching out to find them.
Sometimes when I post, there are some replies worried about a scam, so in order to head that off I just want to say that our competitions are listed by The Write Life as some of the top writing competitions out there, and we’re in Writer’s Digest’s top eight sites for writers. Besides contests, we also offer a lot of free publishing and style resources, including a database of free poetry and prose competitions, at https://winningwriters.com/
I know this isn't a poetry sub per se, but there are a lot of talented people here and I just wanted to reach out in case anyone was looking for an opportunity like this. Thanks for listening, and have a good day.
I've come to see people don't see beauty in reality anymore...and I'm not sure if they ever did.
I see now that I've lived my life around people who are so insecure about themselves that they don't see the beauty around.
We can try to enlighten, but that doesn't work on people who are addicted to the feeling of egocentrism.
We can not get peace without love, but egocentrism destroys love.
All the language people use engages only the ego.
Try to notice the difference in the volume of words you see that engage the ego, compared to the volume of words you see that engage pro-social emotions: compassion, mercy, altruism, humility, etc..
Our actions are a direct consequence of our beliefs.
A culture of extreme systemic violence is culture of violent thinking.
It took a lot of time to notice the problem with words and language.
We won't get love if we teach it ....using the word very often.
We must speak the emotions we want to see in the world.
#Preach Love with Every Breath
The world needs us to do that.

About a year ago, I met this girl from France. I fell in love with her shortly after we met after finding we had similar interests and had very few, insignificant differences (she liked Twilight while I don’t). She head back to France soon after we met, but my feelings for her still remain. I wish I could be with her one more time, but I don’t think it’ll happen any time soon. I still think I love her. What should I do?
Should I just move on and forget her?
Should I try to be with her again?
I’m open to all suggestions.
I am looking to start a feminist hang out here in Brisbane - please PM me if you're interested! No need to post below - you can simply PM me and we can take it from there. This is just a social hang out - not affiliated with any political party, organisation, bla bla - I'm just a woman in her late 20's who loves feminism and is on the search for like-minded people.
