Pardon my ignorance and silly question.. I signed my bodily injury release and agreed to settle via email. I signed the copy, left witnesses blank, and return via email. Am I suppose to physically mail it or is email acceptable ?
**the lady that’s been on our case is incredibly terrible to get ahold of and I havnt been able to get through to her for over a week
I had an accident at September 2023 with electric kick stand scooter. Counter party initiated claim over my insurance over lawyer both liability and medical. He found 100% at fault so his liability rejected, but received payment over my PIP for his medical bills since he didn’t have any insurance, and I paid my deductible to fix my car.
6 month later after accident, I was shopping and Geico had expensive quote for me stating they observe that I was injured and I was the one who received. I requested Progressive to fix this and they said it will be done in 45 days and they sent me a letter to send it to Geico to confirm mistake.
I didn’t follow-up on this, tried getting LexisNexis report and didn’t receive full report from them telling that they couldn’t match my information.
6 more months passed, started shopping again and tried getting quote from Progressive, and their quoting system shows I had TWO accidents on same they pulled from CLUE reporting.
So I have:
Progressive redirects to different departments and only department tried to escalate for me was medical payments one but still not resolved for more then a month.
What are my other options on this? It clearly causes for me to have higher rates during shopping.
Hi, I was just involved in an accident where a mustang hit a parked car first while trying to drift and tried to fled the sene. However, while he was trying to get away he spun out and hit my car and another girl's car (we were parked at red light). Both of our cars are totaled and the mustang driver provided expired insurance (he did not have his driver license). I know I will get paid out by my insurance but I am just curious as to what will happen to him. No way he can just walk free since he didn't have an insurance right? The other car's dash cam captured everything but the police would not do anything since its not a hit and run on my car ( its a hit and run on the parked car).
Edit: This is in LA btw. I have read a lot of post here but didn't see any LA specific laws and policy.
Thanks!
I’m very frustrated! I got into a car accident and have a police report. The policy number I was given for their insurance is 7 digits, a dash, a letter and two digits, a dash and then two digits. Sooooo, a little confusing but an example is “4637289-A10-45”. Where is that even from?
I was on the freeway in California and a car stopped suddenly because they hit a dog. I rear ended the car slightly. Then another car rear ended me hard and pushed me forward. My question is who is to blame for this. When I Google law websites it sounds like everyone is at fault. The dog owner is at fault. The first car that stopped suddenly shares the blame. I share the blame. The car in back shares the blame. But the first car is putting fault on ME and wants my insurance to cover her medical. Should I fight this? Can I fight this?
I have a prescription for a controlled substance that can only be sent in every 30 days manually, not by regular refill. My insurance changes in November but my prescription is in the middle of the month and I haven't gotten a new doctor lined up yet.
Can they still send my prescription if I give them updated insurance and they're no longer covered? I really meant to plan this further ahead but the past 2 months at my new job really flew by and making calls during business hours is always a nuisance.
To be or not to be..that is the question
To pick HDHP, PPO, EPO, HMO or something else...That is an annual question.
Do many have Q, or am I alone on it? Ive spend a lot of time on it. So know quite a good bit about it.
Feel free to ask question and to be clear I am definitely not trying to sell anything. Just spread some math.
Spoiler: Do the right thing early enough and you will thank yourself many years later!
I sold the vehicle to someone from FBmarketplace, I signed the title over and notified my insurance company about it. I guess he totaled in a month later?
The letter says: Copart Inc is in the process of transferring ownership of the above vehicle that was deemed a total loss by your insurance company. Your insurance company has advised us to request the signed transferable title documents for your vehicle in order to remove your name from the vehicle record and to transfer ownership of the vehicle to your insurance company.
It even states the wrong Insurance company on the letter. What should I do?
EDIT: MISSPELLING IN TITLE MEANT TO PUT “PRIVATE” not “PROVE”
I had a 2023 Tesla model Y lease that I had full coverage on through Mapfre, the premium was about 7,000 per year, my other car, 2023 Dodge challenger was 1600 per year and my 2020 motorcycle was 500 per year. The total annual premium was 9100. This was WAY too much, because the Tesla just doubled recently… I terminated my lease early, and will be absorbing a stupid amount of fees, in an effort to decrease my annual premium by 7,000 dollars. I understand could be a little less than the full annual because the policy started October 13th, so I should pay for 18 days of full coverage, I’m fine with that. I checked my policy today and my annual premium without the Tesla is 5,100 dollars now…. 4600 for the challenger and 500 for the motorcycle. Without the mileage changing, and no new drivers or anything, why is my premium still high. I literally ate the costs of an early term to save 7 grand and now I’m only saving 4?
A deer ran onto the road and hit me, I was going 60 in a 55, deer ruined the front end of the car, it’s probably totaled. I have comprehensive insurance. The car is financed but since the car is totaled how does insurance handle it?
A Sequoia SUV scraped my car because his turn radius was to short so my front bumper now has a scrape on it with black spots where the paint was completely removed. My cars color is white so it's obvious and I'm still paying for it.
I do have previous damage from a vehicle that backed up and hit my car hard enough to imprint the square part of the bumper frame.
I did tell the person who hit me that it was previous damage. When I fully submit the claim they are going to probably replace the whole front bumper though.
What would claiming there was no previous accidents do to the claim?
Hello!
Location: Texas
I was recently in a car wreck and had my car totaled. Other person has been assigned liability. I hurt my back and suffered a mild concussion. At my house, I was in the middle of a project re-sodding my yard. My friend and I set aside an entire weekend to perform the project. Now, we are unable to finish the project any time soon. Now its starting to rain and my yard is turning into a mud pit. I don't have single weekend free until after Thanksgiving.
Can I have the insurance company pay to finish the project?
Hi everyone, Just wanted to see if anyones gone through this and what to expect or if I should consult a lawyer. Got into my first accident last year where I rear ended someone. Everyone was fine at the time, no ambulance came, I got a ticket and filed a claim with my insurance. I was at fault, which I accept and I thought that was the end of it.
But a couple months later I received a letter from my car insurance that the driver had retained a lawyer and where asking for me to release my policy limits, which I did. my insurance told me they were being treated for whip lash and where going to a chiropractor at the time and just had to wait for all the bill to come in.
I finally got an update that they were demanding my policy limit to settle and my insurance was reviewing it. Figured that would be the end of it. But I got another email from my insurance 2 months later stating the same thing that they were demanding my limit of 25k/50k and that my insurance is reviewing it but the attorney in addition to the amount they were they requesting also wanted me to fill out an affavidit of my assets as part of the demand. My insurance say it my decision if I provide it or not and I can also consult my with an attorney if I have one. So here I am. I guess I want to know if I just fill it out and accept my fate and hope for the best or consult a lawyer.
I also don't have a lot of liquide assets. I rent, a high mileage car , and about about 7k in saving and 1k in an ira make under 50k. But biggest non-liquid asset is my 403b which is 100K+. Which is my biggest concern because they are asking for my retirement amount on the affidavit.
I will say that the drivers medical expenses were high in excess of 100k, which is were I am concerned if they would think I would have that much to pay because of my retirement or if they take it out of it. However the majority of that amount is because they went to an out of network pain doctor and got custom pain management. Not sure if that information relevant.
Anyways I appreciate everyone who reads and any constructive criticism. This has definitely been a learning experience and don't want to repeat this mistake ever again .
Thanks
a few weeks ago I was in a mild fender bender. Police were called on the scene, police didn’t file a report because it was considered a “minor incident” and would have to be decided by insurances. We exchanged numbers and insurances, and both filed our claims. Was ruled not liable, and the person called me today and sent me threatening messages basically saying they’re gonna take me to court. They lied and said they had a dash cam on their car the entire time and that “i’m in trouble”, but they failed to realize i took a picture of the front of their car on the scene and they didn’t in fact have a dash cam on the scene. Has anyone ever experienced this, or if so what can I do? I didn’t reply to them as I feel no need to escalate the situation any further as the insurances have already decided. Any help is appreciated.
I recently became privy to a transaction for $200,000 from my dad to prudential insurance. My only explanation is that this must be whole life insurance, right? Which must mean this is an annual payment, is that correct? Assuming that it is, is this ever a good idea?
He’s always been terrible with money, but in an overly conservative way. He used to have several million dollars in checking accounts before I confronted him about that, but he still keeps his finances private so it’s hard to know exactly where that all went.
Both of my parents are in their 60s and they’ve both had (operable/mostly curable) cancers, but are otherwise very healthy. I know that they have no practical need for life insurance, because I am positive they have savings to last him and my mom their entire lives, and I (only child) am self sufficient. He still works and is likely making around 800k-1.4m/yr, and has been for a while. I’d estimate their net worth at maybe 8-15 million, but I honestly have no idea. They have a $1.5 million house and otherwise don’t spend a lot.
I’m not sure if this insurance payment is something I should confront him about or not. And if I do, I need to be prepared to explain why this might not be a good idea. So my questions are:
should I even confront him about this? Is this ever a good financial investment with this high of payments?
if yes, what do I need to know to be better informed so that I can help in the right way?
I'm trying to compare companies, but it is difficult to find this information, which seems critical. Some of the main companies I'm looking at are State Farm and Progressive, but neither makes this clear. Do they only disclose this when you sign the contract??
Hi lemonade claims lady told me Your policy states that we will pay no more than the replacement cost of your items. However, we still pay based on ACV.
THIS ENDORSEMENT CHANGES THE POLICY. PLEASE READ IT CAREFULLY.

I had a car accident when A truck pushed out from the middle lane to the left lane as a side sweep, which led to hit another car on the left lane, i dont have a collision coverage and their insurance was expired at the time of the accident , there are no witnesses or dashcam involved what to do in this case since no insurance is going to be involved and i already sent my statement to police
Unfortunately, I am trying to get out of an abusive situation fast so my only option was to have my mom finance a car under her name. I am not a cosigner on the car loan. If she is the owner of the vehicle and only her name is on the lease... how do I insure the car? I don't want to commit any insurance fraud by accident which is why I am asking. I want to make sure in case of an accident that the car would be covered. Reminder: we live 30 minutes away so the car would be parked at my place. Does she create a policy and add me or should I create the policy and add her. Any advice or information will help. Thank you! (In Colorado)
I own a property with another person that does not reside on the property, I do reside on the property. I signed a contract with a Pool Contractor for a brand new pool Jacuzzi and swim jet system install. The Pool Contractor is very difficult. He incorrectly installed a brand new swim jet system (makes a current for aiming in place) I’ve been arguing for two months with his attorney on the matter. His attorney finally agreed to give me money for another contractor to fix, replace swim jet system equipment he ruined, And for some other little things necessary for fixing the issues. The second owner of the property wants nothing to do with this in-ground pool contractor situation. Pool contractor attorney says they will only give me the money to fix the problem if the second owner and I both sign what the attorney is calling a settlement agreement. Can I ask the attorney to simply make it a fix agreement and then the second owner doesn’t need to sigN? I know they can ask the second owner to sign, but the second owner did not sign the original contract between me and contractor, nor has the second owner signed any of the addendums, etc. Can I say no and still demand payment and have a legal standing?
Hey, I was involved in a really bad accident that ended up leaving me injured. The other vehicle drove straight into me and then ended up in a building. I got this from them today:
“I have accepted the liability, however, based on the unknown amount of the property damage to both parties we are unable to handle the property damage at this time. Once, we have received the estimate of damages for the building that was damaged and for your vehicle, we will then be in a position to move forward with property damage payments. You may wish to go through your insurance carrier, and they will subrogate State Farm when their handling is complete. Additionally, if I hear back from the Holistic Community Outreach center on an estimate of their damages, and it is not as high as expected we may be able to move forward at that time. I will handle the injury portion with your attorney, since we received a letter of representation. If you have further questions, please let me know. Thank you”
What does this mean? Are they saying if the building damage cost more than my car then they won’t cover my car? My car is drivable but I’m 100% sure it’ll be ruled out as totaled. I have insurance but due to my car being old I only have liability so I can’t go through my insurance to get a fix. Any advice?
Hi everyone,
As I was waking toward my car, I saw a tow truck trying to move the car parked infront of mine and lo and behold there is a big scratch mark on my bumper. I got on my phone to file a claim only to learn that my insurance was canceled last month. After being on the phone with geico for 90 mins I learned they canceled bc my driver license on file was expired. This is a dl from 6 years ago and I had a new one all along. They just should have asked for updated doc which they say they did via mail. I’m pretty sure I haven’t received any mail piece on this. Also understand that I could be wrong that’s why I opted out for paperless. They could’ve sent an email which they surely didn’t.
I did renew my insurance today but the effective start date is not until tomorrow. Is there anything I can do if I were to claim the accident from today?
Appreciate any help. 🙏🏼
I'm in Georgia. Long story short, I purchased a cheap car from a used car dealer on Friday 10/25, life circumstances quickly changed, and I will be selling it back to the same dealer on Monday 11/4. About 10-11 days depending how you count. Dealer isn't sure yet if the title will ever officially be in my name. I'm trying to make sure I don't get hit with an insurance lapse that will increase the insurance on the car I have owned and am retaining.
If I bought insurance on the car now but the title never officially goes into my name, will that hurt me? Or would it hurt me if I don't insure it since my insurance company offers a 30 day grace period and I won't own it that long? Confused on how to handle the situation and just want to avoid permanent insurance increases. Thanks for reading, I appreciate any advice
I am looking for liability insurance only for my 2003 Acura tl. I was quoted by progressive the photo in the comment section. I was wondering if the coverage is good considereing the premium. Also is the policy fee at the top of the photo something I pay every month to along with the monthly premium or just when I make the 6 month starting payment.
Hey guys, so currently hitting the fan on a lot right now. I am a college student who is 20 years old now working part time. Got behind on triple AAA insurance as they kept increasing my rate and then the system got behind and they charged me $1300 for one month which I did not have and will probably hit collections soon. I switched to geico and a few days ago ended up getting in a minor accident no one hurt damage not bad, it was a lane change I was doing and I am at fault despite the guy riding in between two lanes which they claimed was my fault saying the guy had a witness. (Who that witness was, no clue, but the guy was an uber driver with a passenger and that passenger got out the car and disappeared. ) My witness and me say otherwise, but I just have to live with the decision of GEICO, it is life. My current policy was doubled from $3k premium to a $6k premium because of this. I was working on getting my credit up because I have $6k of credit card debt all my cards are almost maxed out. They were coming down before I ended up with this accident making me pay $1000 deductible. I have tried looking at other insurance companies, but there seems to be a very limited amount of insurance companies in my city. I have used those websites that search for you but they send me to AllState or Progressive really who are worse than Geico with a rate. I only see big insurance companies and their rates are not favorable, geico is shockingly the best. Geico expects $1k a month from me for insurance for the next 6 months. I will have to pay this and just settle with my losses, but if anyone here has any ideas on what I can do, I would love to hear it as I keep getting set back this year as I move forward.
For context, I am in Oklahoma. So I got into an accident with my 2024 toyota corolla (not at fault). But the car has pretty high negative equity due to money from my previous loan(that car was dying but I had loan on it so it roll over). Car is completely total, it does have gap insurance. Car is probably worth 28k but my loan is 40k. You think gap would take care of everything or what will happen? Please don't judge hard, I was very dumb when I sign the lease. Thank you.
Thank everyone for reply, I call toyota to check and they said they cover up to 200%. It only got 8000 mileage on it and mint condition, only back frame is destroy so very hopeful they cover everything!
Hi everyone,
About 2 weeks ago I got my car stolen from my home and filed a claim with GEICO. My neighbors had video evidence that I submitted both to the police and to GEICO, along with fully cooperating with the theft claim adjuster who showed up at my house. I also provided every picture and documented requested. This was confirmed with an email stating to me that "They have everything they need and to wait 2 weeks for the police to try and recover my vehicle. After 2 weeks, we"ll reach back out to start the next steps". So, first off my assigned claim adjuster calls me 4 days later stating the police found my vehicle. When I called the PD to confirm, they said they didn't find it. I called my adjuster back and he said he made a mistake. He said he would call me back to get more information (he never did). Ok cool, I understand everyone makes mistakes, kind of unprofessional but life goes on. Fast forward 2 weeks, I still don't hear from him so I reach out to move on with the process. Now he's stating he needs the actual "police report" to move on. Mind you my state provides a "blue slip" with the police report #, officer name and badge # which I previously provided. So I go to my local PD for a request form, and the turnaround time is 8-9 weeks. I explained this to my adjuster, he said they (GEICO) uses a 3rd party to request records which could take 4 months? I honestly think this is unacceptable as my coverage only covers 1 month of a rental. Additionally, I would be paying 2-3 months of a car payment and insurance on a missing car + out of pocket rental costs. Is this normal? And is there anything I can do? I feel like it's ridiculous to stop the process for months when I have every piece of information including the detective name and # assigned to my case. Not having the physical report is completely out of my control and shouldn't be used to blackball the process. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated as this is my last resort
Does anyone know if an insurance company has to fix three sides of your houses siding if you can see it from the road ? Obviously not the back side I’m just talking about line of sight
i recently got insurance through a third party agency, one of those ones that calls you after you fill out a form online. i was told i was signing up for blue cross blue shield, but when i received emails & mail about my health insurance, it was listed under oscar insurance, a company i had never heard of. i have a lot of health issues, including memory issues & cognitive fatigue/brain fog, so i was a in over head a little. i had to pay $270 + a one time $90 fee the day i signed up. the $270 is what's charged monthly. when i got my insurance card, it doesn't say oscar insurance OR blue cross blue shield. it says managed care, though later when i called the company to bring this up, the guy explained that my specific oscar works under blue cross blue shield & that when i was looking for providers, i should tell them that it's managed care if they don't immediately accept the insurance under the name oscar insurance. sorry if im doing a poor job explaining, im stressed which makes my mental issues worse & makes it hard to explain things. im just so worried. i was definitely dumb & jumped into things too quickly, i was just excited to have insurance after a year of not having any. i dont know what to do or if this was a scam
