Best sources body panels / patches?

I’m about to close on a deal for a 1969 Scout 800, automatic 304 V8. It’s my first Scout and first project. For body work it mostly needs an inner fender, patches on the bottom of the doors, a rear quarter panel patch, inner rear quarter, and potentially an end cap if I can’t sort out the dent. I see a few sites like Any Scout and Super Scout Specialist have some of what I need. I wanted to put the question out there and see what anyone else recommends?

2025 Rivian Scout

Volkswagen is missing out with a great opportunity—Rivian, with some modifications, could make the new Scout with the soul of the real Scout.

Scout II Exterior Parts Survey

Hello! I am a senior studying Industrial Design at the University of Cincinnati. For my thesis project, my goal is to design and build some aftermarket exterior parts for International Scout IIs. Hopefully by the end of April, I will design and build a front bumper, roof rack, and a hitch step.

My project aims to fulfill the needs of modern Scout owners, but for the parts to retain a vintage style. Right now, I want to validate some of my designs and see which designs are most popular with Scout owners.

The survey contains 3 multiple choice questions and 3 optional short responses. The multiple choice is to pick which design you like, then the short responses are to explain why you picked the option. While the short response is optional, any responses would be a huge help for me!

The link to the survey is below:

Thank you for taking the time to check this out, and looking forward to seeing your responses!

4” body lift

Help! I just aquired a 79 SSII with a 4” body lift and 2” suspension lift on 35s. The steering is rough. I’m very much a newbie and trying to figure out what to do

From what I understand my options are to

  1. drop the body to 2”, raise the suspension to 4”, cut and turn.

  2. drop the body lift, get smaller tires as long as it’s not geared to 4.27, in which case that would have to be swapped out

  3. Keep as is and try steering kit… but it sounds like 4” body lift is never a good idea?

Open to any constructive feedback

1972 Scout 2

I'm new to the scout world and not that mechanically gifted but loving the challenge.

Last week I cranked up my Scout to drive around in the cold and something happened to the engine. It is running at a really high RPM almost like it is stuck in second gear right from the start. Any tips on how to get it back down to the right idle speed.

So what is the real reason Scouts are rusty

I mean, I know they are all 40+ years old at this point in time. But they do seem rustier than other vehicles at similar age. I have heard that they stored all the sheetmetal outside and only cleaned up the outside part for paint (so they started rusty from the inside). Anyone know for sure? Or anymore rumors?

Is cross member replacement too hard for a newbie?

I’m looking for some advice on where to draw the line on what I should be passing up on while looking for my first project. I’m in the northeast seeking a late 60’s Scout 800 with a V8 and only a few have come up that aren’t total roaches within a feasible price range. I’ve found one a few states away however the seller is saying the cross members need to be replaced and has the parts. This is my first project with zero prior experience, how difficult will this be? I’d hate to spend the money and effort to get a project that ultimately is way over my head. Any advice is appreciated.

Spam, loads of spam

I've received 22 emails from Super Scout Specialists this evening, despite requests to stop sending them. You decide if you want to do business with them.

I did own a '67 Scout 20 years ago, enjoyed it.

‘68 800 Rebuild

Does anyone have a line on a PTO winch? It would be a super cool accessory to resurrect..

Also because I seem to just love donating money to my mechanic…

'61 Scout 80

I have a '61 Scout 80 that I picked up, cleaned, and then didnt get any time to put back together. Essentially it's a giant puzzle that's sort of together, but has all the parts and some new parts for it in hand (new suspension, 1" lift, wiring harness).

I'm looking to clear a spot out of the garage and I'm wondering how interested in this y'all might be.

EDIT: I'm in Missouri and I was thinking $2k for the lot.
