hi! new rugby fan here! anybody got info on how to get to the game without spending a million dollars?
I'll be honest the fact that the team hasn't won a home playoff game bothers me a bit, but I feel it's almost a duty to support rugby in the states by supporting my hometown club. Myself and my SO had a blast last season (apart from the NE game) and can't wait until next season.
Anyone else renewed before the price increase in September?
Anyone wish we had an offseason game or two? Queensland Reds after their season played Tonga, Wales and are going abroad as well.
I know Sabercats as a second tier club often have players play elsewhere so it would be hard to do, but maybe they could use the games to fill in holes with up and coming academy players?
Would love to have Bath Rugby or Ulster do a preseason tour in the states and play against us and maybe NOLA Gold and Dallas or something.
What do you guys do to stop the itch for live rugby in the offseason?
I'm seeing comments on the MLR sub that a lot of our players and possibly even our coach is leaving?
I know Heynecke was leaving but I was under the impression that Pote was being given the reigns?
Seems like nothing but worrying things are said. Anyone heard anything?
I had a lot of fun at the games this regular season but that early playoff exit was really brutal. I wonder if the locker room fell apart when they found out about departures prior to the end of the season?
The announcers on FS2 reference it multiple times. The Sabercats looked more gassed than Dallas did even in the first half. Combine this with the club posting an ad about wanting to hire a strength and conditioning coach mid-season, really leaves a sour taste in my mouth.
What happened in the preparation to this game? Did our team over-train in the days leading up to the game? Was our coaching staff just clueless on how to maintain fitness during the intl break?
With Rudy T coming, are special guests easy to get autographs from?
I've learned there has been a decent amount of coverage on the team in the Houston Business Journal, but it's all behind a paywall. Anyone on here able to help out? I've got subscription fatigue and need to start canceling some as opposed to adding more.
Hey SaberCats fans, just wanted to let y'all know that Houston also has a professional ultimate frisbee team called the Havoc. They'll be playing this Saturday, June 22nd at 7:30 PM at your SaberCats Stadium against the Dallas Legion. There's also a team sponsored tailgate at the stadium with free beer starting at 6:30 PM.
They're doing a promo this week and are giving away free tickets to the game! So you'd only need to pay a few dollars to park at the stadium.
If you'd be interested or have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out and I can shoot you the link to claim the free tickets.
Hope y'all can make it out!

Houston wins by more than 7 with 1BP (62, 13W) and Seattle 1BP (51, 10W): Houston clinches homefield throughout playoffs.
Houston wins by less than 7 with 1BP (62, 13W) and Seattle 2BP (52, 10W): Houston clinches homefield throughout playoffs. Even if Houston loses-out and Seattle wins-out to match points total at the end of the season, Houston would clinch the Western Conference #1 seed by total wins.
Houston wins by more than 7 with no BP (61, 13W) and Seattle 1BP (51, 10W): Houston clinches homefield throughout playoffs. Even if Houston loses-out and Seattle wins-out to match points total at the end of the season, Houston would clinch the Western Conference #1 seed by total wins.
Houston wins by less than 7 with no BP (61, 13W) and Seattle 2BP (52, 10W), Seattle could claim the #1 seed throughout the playoffs by season's end.
Tying does not help; even with the bonus point.
So I was looking at the standings and the remaining schedule. Now I'm just a newbie to the sport, but I've been loving learning the game and, as a long time football fan, I love pouring over playoff scenarios. So if you don't know and want the info, here it is!
Simply put, we beat the Seawolves next week by more than 7 pts, we clinch homefield advantage through the playoffs. We're already guaranteed a playoff spot, even if we lose out the season.
A loss, with Seattle scoring 4 or more tries, will mean we'll need to win both remaining games, IF Seattle wins their remaining games as well. If they lose at all, we need to win 1 game.
This is very simplified, but is enough of a picture to tell us all we need to know about how close we are to having a dominate position in the playoffs.
I'm very excited to go to this week's game with so much on the line. Gonna be a really good game, I think, no matter what.
Is the Rugby Network the only place we can Re-Watch games? I tried to find yesterday’s game on there and only see highlights available atm.
Hello! Would anyone like a pair of tickets for tonight’s game? I can no longer attend
Are the game only on the rugby network? If not what channel will tomorrow's game be on?
Great win!
Seemed like we were so dominant the first 20 minutes that we took our foot off the gas. The conditions were so wet there were so many knock ons.
Warner with the moment of the match. Amazing charge down by him.
Great to see our traveling fans and the watch party looked fun as well.
What are your thoughts?
I got this in my email, but heard that they may not have enough people to make it happen.
Like that they're trying to get some away fans to games.
Anyone else excited for this new jersey? Ive seen a preview and it looks awesome. Love the color scheme
Seems like at 7 pm it will still be too hot for comfort. Although Sabercats stadium does provide much better ventilation than Shell Energy. They should kickoff at 8 pm the difference is about 5-6 degrees cooler
That was a nail biter.
I'm not sure if Chicagos defense was just a brick wall or if we were sloppy? So many knock ons.
The crowd in my section was so pumped all the way to the end.
Imo our defense was fairly organized, it's just that our offense sputtered at times. We kicked for a line out over and over and kept losing the line out.
The stadium atmosphere was very fun. Nandos giving out free sample wings. I brought a friend from Venezuela he had a blast and wants to come back.
Overall glad we won.
What are your thoughts?
Anyone know the status of the stadium? Any damage? Do they have power? Likelihood that there will be a game tomorrow?
Good win with a heavily rotated squad. We let our foot off the gas a bit at half time, but overall a solid performance.
How do you think Renton did?
Drew Wild what a game! Amazing kicking by him.
What are y'all's thoughts?
Hello! We're from ATX, but Hounds fans (followed to support players and coach after the AG's fiasco). We're thinking about driving down to watch the game on the 18th. . .is sitting East Side that bad with the sunset? Also, what's the parking situation like?
Thanks!
What did y'all think? Pretty decent result on the road if you ask me.
Play of the game: that intercept for the try to make it 29-17. What a play! We really needed that momentum shift.
Any experts can chime in on our forward play?
Random shower thought: that Utah pitch had a weird bounce to it.
Btw that stadium view is amazing with the mountains in the background.
Area of opportunity: discipline. 2 yellow cards having to play 13 v 15
Overall happy with the win!
I'm at the game and was wondering why our guy got a red card. Does anyone know.
