If you’re looking for a subreddit to discuss left of center politics with other left of center users then this subreddit may interest you. We have around 3,500 subscribers at the moment, our daily discussion threads get hundreds of comments and I would love to have more like minded people join us in discussion of the latest political and world news. This is subreddit for beyond just talking about Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and the United States. It is a global focused subreddit with users from all over globe. And together we follow the politics of the world.
It has also become a close knit community. In the casual discussion threads users share interesting stories and experiences from their lives, post memes, make small talk, and just have a relaxed place to chat with like minded people.
If this sounds like something you would be interested in, please check out the sub, again it is /r/centerleftpolitics spelled center not centre, but if you spell it that way you are still welcome of course!
Firstly, I'd like the thank the /r/HillaryForAmerica mods for allowing me to post here.
I'm MaTh, the head moderator for AmericanGovSim (AGS), a US government simulation that takes place entirely in Discord. I'm here to explain what the simulation is about and, hopefully, convince some of you to come join the community. If you're interested in such a simulation, here's what we have to offer:
Once someone enters the server, they'll immediately be given the option to join a political party or remain an independent. There are five current political parties: the Constitutionalist Party, Green-Democratic Party, Libertarian Party, Monarchist Party, and Radical Leftist Party. Users also have the option to create their own political party if they can gather enough members to do so.
Once they've chosen a party, they're allowed into the various text channels of the main server and the party's individual server. Once that's done, they can begin to participate in the simulation. You can get involved with party politics by running for a leadership position or obtaining one of they various jobs that each party has open. You can also apply for a federal cabinet position or even begin working for a press organization that covers events within the simulation.
Also, elections are coming up, so members will have the ability to run for office, participate in debates, create a platform, and, eventually, vote. If elected to Congress, you'll be assigned to two committees and will be able to write and vote on legislation. We actually recently had a government shutdown scenario where Congress had to pass a budget by a specific deadline to avoid a shutdown that would have implemented negative vote modifiers for the upcoming federal election. You can even work in the private sector. For example, you could create your own non-governmental organization or join SpaceX, which exists in this simulation.
As you can see, there's quite a bit going on in this simulation. We're an ever-growing simulation that will only continue to grow and become more active as time goes on. If you're interested, here's a link: https://discord.gg/zKQ5v3y
If you have any questions about AGS, feel free to ask in the comments or through private message.
Help, does anyone know of a web site or redditor who is keeping an up to date, sourced list on the Russian issue?
I have read on here lists of this kind before but things change and shift day by day. This is the single most important issue we are facing today. Sect of State office being drained, rollbacks on EPA regulations, attacks on healthcare and women's rights...everything comes back to this.
Trump is obviously compromised and our republican MOC stand by and do nothing because they want their far right agendas passed. They don't care that it's a fact that the Russians interfered with our election. They don't care that it's obvious a foreign power is shaping our foreign policy, putting ourselves and other countries at risk. All they care about is "let's get tax cuts for the rich," and "our base thinks abortion is baby killing, we must stop PP," "let's get rid of all the regulations protecting people yet threatening our business interests that we can," etc...they need Trump to rubber stamp their agenda and they obviously cannot see or do not care about the serious harm to our citizens and very democracy.
We must have a special counsel appointed to investigate because the republicans cannot be trusted to investigate themselves or for themselves. What is a special councel and why is that exactly who we need? Read here.
I, and we, need a good ongoing list of what has and is happening if we are to effectively pressure our MOC and to convince reasonable Trump voters and the huge number of Americans who didn't even bother to vote.
I remember noticing during the RNC that Trump sent people to get the platform changed...in only one way. To keep it from saying that we'd help the Ukraine fight Russian aggression. After that I began to notice more things, like the Manafort ties, and since then it has really snowballed.
I'm going to post this elsewhere until someone can help me. Please!
