Does anyone know how to fix this?
I stopped playing VR a while ago after one of my controllers from my Rift S got stick drift. Half-Life Alyx has always been on my wishlist though and after a quick search it seems like Half-Life Alyx has some unique movement modes like pointing my hand in a specific direction to move instead of using joysticks. Are joysticks still used in the game if I used a movement mode like that or can I just enjoy it without them?
Hi, I play Day of Defeat classic alot and some other older games but also want to play some new games(if I like them). My current computer is dying so I want to build an awesome computer (it's been a dream, but let's call it a midlife crisis).
Will older fps games take performance hit on AMD GPUs such as 7900XTX or 7900XT compared to NVIDIA 4k/5k GPUs? I'm considering OpenGL and Directx...
I'm currently playing Alyx, I'm at the end of chapter 5 and I must say even without vr headset this is some vidya experience.
It's Incredibly immersive from sound design and graphics to animation quality. Enemies are very engaging to fight. Zombies act like zombies, soldiers behave like soldiers and electric headcrabs behave like electric headcrabs. I like the new enemy types this game introduced. I love the closed claustrophic spaces. It all feels up close and personal. The soundtrack is god tier and art design makes me blush
I thought this was gonna be mid as hell going into it without VR and yeah there are some limitations, and it's not as interactive as I would love to but it's still a damn good game and surprisingly an actually fun shooter. Really glad the no VR mod exists as it saved me hundreds of dollars and I still get to experience this gem of a game.
so i just started playing half life 1 (knows nothing about it) and when i was exploring i saw a guy in a suit just staring at me and walking away who the hell is that it was so random..
What would they do in the aftermath
Hi everyone! We finally have something new to share and we're hyped to show you what we have been working on for the past few months.
Since the game was first revealed five months ago, we got one more team member who joined the project as a game designer and marketing guy... and well, a lot has changed. We are sticking to our tight and snappy core shooter roots but decided to slow down the gameplay and level design a little bit, just enough so we have more breathing room for a richer story and some immersive puzzle segments.
This decision was also followed by a jump in quality of our visuals as we felt the new pacing and story focus requires a higher fidelity of assets and effects.
We hope you like the direction we're heading in and that you'll enjoy the first teaser trailer :)
Also, you probably know how much wishlists on Steam mean to indie devs like us, so we would really appreciate you clicking that wishlist button :)

The atmosphere of the chase was conveyed very coolly. I was shaking at the sound of heavy running behind me. Crowbar Collective made a great remake.
I played on hard difficulty and got a little nervous. Was it worth it? Of course.
I don't know if anyone has made this comparison yet but both the Mad Max and Half Life franxhises share similar creative trajectories. Both properties are high octane creative endeavors that their creators sank their blood, sweat, and tears into to get off the ground while pushing their respective genres forward. As they became huge successes in their mediums each followed up with sequels that weren't concerned with minor details like continuity beyond sharing a main character and mankind experiencing a collapse in civilization. Where it gets wierd is how both franchises, still at the height of their popularity, then go dormant for multiple decades leaving their fans in limbo as their creators go on to other ventures but always tease some kind of return (Gabe always trotting out that damn crow bar and George Miller teasing us that he has a whole new trilogy storyboarded out). But just as the fans are about to come to terms with the idea that these franchises have been abandoned, Half Life Alex and Fury Road come out of no where and completely reinvigorate each franchise. After years of writers block, production hell etc. all it ultimately took to breath new life into each world was a change in perspective. While Gordon and Max are still present, it's obvious that Valve/ Miller fell in love with the underutilized female perspective in the action genre (and as a result fell in love with their strong heroines with Alyx and Furiosa). Both women are smart, capable, and able to survive in a hellish futuristic landscape that most of humanity wasn't able to adapt to before them. While it is annoying we've had to deal with butthurt fanboys not willing to allow let Gordon and Max give up the spot light (more with Fury Road but that's its own stupid discussion for another thread), Alyx and Furiosa are amazingly realized protagonists that grabbed the reigns of their established properties and brought them roaring back to life in a landscape of entertainment that is desperately looking for unique voices beyond the strong, silent male archetype. I just hope both franchise is given the opportunity to follow this trend to completion since Half Life and Furiosa still need to get their third installment completed.
