Yes i know this year wasn’t as good as the past seasons, this is my first year as a frequent fear pass holder (been to 31 and 32). Currently in line for insidious sad that it all ends tonight. Man can’t wait for next year. Thankful it’s night so no one can see my teary eyes as i type this.
Hi guys. I went to horror nights on the 26th my boyfriend and I did all the houses (we got express) except for insidious and Texas chainsaw massacre as everyone was saying those houses smelt. I was 12 weeks 4 days when we went I did take breaks as my feet were killing me (I was wearing doc martens 🤦🏻♀️). I also had to get a little snack in as if I don’t eat baby girl makes me feel 🤢🤢. So for anyone reading this in the future and is pregnant I highly recommend going just make sure you take breaks, have snacks, and please wear comfy shoes don’t make the same mistake I did 😂.
I’m heading over tonight and didn’t realize the temperature was dropping a little. Any hhn clearance hoodies or long sleeves available right now?
I know they had everything 70% off these past few days. Does anyone know if there are more sales tonight since it's the last night?
Hey, so a friend of mines is going to hhn tonight and I was wondering if anyone know if there are still any hoodies besides the ghostbusters ones left??
So this has been wracking my brain now since Halloween and I’ve got to ask.
I’ve been coming to HHN off and on since 2015, and have successfully gone the last 5 years in a row (4 Orlando 1 Hollywood). I’ve gotten my fiance as into all of it as I am (almost) and he is great to go with as he appreciates the work put into the houses and from the actors. We were having a great run through all the houses this Halloween, until one that I was looking forward to the most..
We had express passes so we didn’t have to rush all night and I had saved one of my most anticipated houses til our final two - Monstruos: Nightmares of Latin America.
The wait for express was virtually nonexistent and we were headed straight in as the attendant had us all pause, let in a girl in front of us with a written sign around her neck and then head in. I just assumed there was a disability/sensitivity I wasn’t aware of, no big deal at all. But in the first big room, the scare actor with the baby and semi grey makeup was going to jump out at us, but saw her sign and smiled, made a heart with her hands and stood there letting us go by. I then noticed that we didn’t have a single jump scare from an actor, and that all of them who saw us either waved from afar or just stood there in their boo boxes/hallways. It wasn’t like we had a run without a few actors, they were all present, just actively non-acting. I started to get a bit bummed because I felt like we weren’t getting to see everything the way I wanted to.
After getting through the house, I got a look at the guest from in front of us’ sign, which read: “No Scares Please :)”.
I googled all of this after getting home and found that some smaller events and parks do “No-Boo” necklaces, but Universal (to my knowledge) didn’t, at least this year. Is that not the case? I would think that they could accomplish this outside the scare zones, food and shows etc. but I never expected to be put in a non-scary-group for a house. I actually would have rather waited 5 minutes and have been put in a group with full-out effects.
If a disability or sensitivity was the reason for it, I’m all for someone taking preventative measures being able to attend the events they want. I have an invisible illness as well. But I do think if the experience changes that much, maybe those groups could be separated a bit better for the next run. Is there a way to avoid being put in these groups for next time? Was this a special case or something some of you have experienced?
I still LOVED the house and wish I had allotted more time to go through it again and see all of the actors effort. I still have it at the top of my list because I could tell it was really well made. The walkthrough on YouTube showed some of the scares and they were cool to see.
This time I remember I was in a haunted house that was basically a strange hallway full of pictures of people who went to Halloween Horror Nights prior. And I think there was a guy who wanted to attack me. Those are the main two things I remember. I think it had something to do with remembering Halloween Horror night from years past or something
But yeah, I still find it crazy how I managed to get five dreams in one month involving the same event
Hey y'all,
This year I was lucky enough to attend both Hollywood and Orlando's events so I figured it would be worth writing up a big comprehensive review. For some context I've done Hollywood's event 2 other times, but both times after 2 houses I was exhausted and left early. For Orlando, I went one time but it was my first haunt experience and I was so terrfied I only ever did the scarezones. Needless to say, lots of potentially awesome houses missed, so this year I was dead set on doing all the houses. That meant cramming all Hollywood houses in 1 single night, which me and my friend somehow managed, with 15 minutes to spare! But enough of the backstory, here is my review!
HHN 2024 Hollywood:
Overall I had a blast with this event, very few bad houses (real just 1 major dud) and the good houses were fantastic. Insidious lived up to the hype and then some. My final ratings were:
1. Insidious
After seeing a few posts about this house being very scary, and seeing the massive wait times all night, this house absolutely lived up to the hype. The atmosphere was incredibly creepy and the scares came fast and often. I ended up speeding up so fast I got separated from my friend. What a great house.
Best scare: Seeing the bride in black’s mother shushing me in the dark before her jumpscare hit. Seeing that creepy face in dark made me audibly say “oh Jesus” right before the scare.
Special shoutout: The couple ahead of us who also started hiding in each room and jumping out at us if they ever got ahead of us.
2. Texas Chainsaw:
We had a crazy line for this, to the point where we stopped moving for a very long time. It almost seemed like a cast shift or something had gone wrong because we also ran into some very weird empty parts of the maze. Most notably, a massive black area where the TCM 2 opening scare is supposed to play out. Either way though this house was great. Nasty, uncomfortable, and very intense. The scares were constant in this house, probably the second scariest of the whole event. The only downside (besides our weird run) was the house is odd in its pacing. The start is amazing but the finale, while very iconic, was pretty lackluster. The facade actor for this house was absolutely incredible.
Best scare: Chop Top and Leatherface at the start tag team scaring me so bad that I screamed my lungs out (ended up losing my voice a bit by the end of the night).
Special shoutout: The Hitchhiker actor that my friend thought was a guest trying to start a fight with me instead of an actor.
3. Monstruos 2
First house of the night, which may have helped it secure a higher ranking. Amazing costumes and sets, and great atmosphere. Good scares but the El Cadejo puppets did get pretty repetitive. Still it was a super atmospheric and creative house with some solid scares. Plus it’s the best smelling house.
Best scare: The El Cucuy who I saw, waited to see him pop back out his boo-hole to look at those awesome glowing eye masks, and he still scared me anyways.
Special shoutout: the El Muerte actor who singled me out and ran his weapon by my throat.
4. The Weeknd
I think we got a rough run on this house, as we had a couple dead rooms or near miss scares. But the creativity on display here is astounding. I ended up spending most the time in line after this house just dissecting the story and symbolism. The light tunnels are super cool and a great way to handle the usual plain black hallways. The facade was also phenomenal, we got lucky enough to see the Weeknd up there dancing. Only downside was a lack of scares, but that may just come down to our run. I can see why people hyped up the Weeknd doing another house.
Best scare: The cloth faced stilt-walkers with their gorgeous looking masks.
Special shoutout: The woman who had to walk around the bathroom area with towels on her feet to clean up the room. God only knows what she had to clean up. She was very nice though.
5. Ghostbusters
I had pretty low expectations for this after watching the movie. But man this was a fun ride. The house is low on scares but high on great face acting and energy from the cast. The smells and temperatures were great and the stiltwalking Garraka looked amazing when we got to see it. The real highlight here was that insane ghost containment hallway and the great sewer dragon puppet. More of a family friendly, silly house for the most part but one that was executed very well.
Best scare: the containment hallway where all the ghosts got extremely close to my face, one of the best scares of the night in an otherwise very scare light house. The amazing character designs combined with the proximity and the insanity of having 4 ghosts all pouncing on you was incredible.
Special shoutout: the podcast actor who shoved the magic ball right up in my face to get me to stop waiting for Garraka. That ball scared me way better than it should have.
6. A Quiet Place
The build up to this house was so cool, the video and indoor cue got everyone so quiet. During the whole house everyone obeyed the in-movie logic and stayed as quiet as possible. Those first rooms build so much incredible tension. Then the first puppet shows up. Credit to universal the animatronics and puppets look amazing, the budget is clearly there. But they were not scary. They are so big that in every room you know exactly where you’d see them, and they can’t ever get up close and personal so their’s very little way for them to scare you. The rest of the house is just guy with axe and silent white woman. Having an entire house focused on being scared by a mom shushing you was an interesting choice but not one that worked for me very well. I appreciate how impressive the sets, monsters, and silence are, but the experience was really lacking.
Best scare: White woman jumpscare #17 where the actor in the woods before the house snuck up on me and got right in my face. My friend watched this all happen to me and lost his shit as I screamed.
Special shoutout: The amazing flickering lights in the indoor cue, it built the tension so much, only emphasized by us being told we had to enter single file once we reached the entrance.
7. Dead Exposure
What a bizzare house. I cannot properly explain why but this house made me extremely uncomfortable. Something about the stark white rooms, the weird plastic wrapped child, the screaming monkeys, everything felt uncanny and off. That stark white almost made this feel like a house from a different event to me, it just didn’t gel with any other house at the event. I truly cannot put my finger on exactly what made this house so uncomfortable to me but it went beyond fun weirded out and actually led to a lack on enjoyment. I’m curious if anyone else got weird vibes from this house. Beyond that, the scares were decent and the intensity was high. I ended up feeling desperately like I needed to get out of the house because of how intense the uncanny vibes were combined with the high intensity scares. Still, I really did not click with this one. If you loved this house (like my friend) I 100% get it, but man something about this really turned me off.
Best scare: The zombies in the sheet filled room, the whole section is a blur honestly. I was trying to get out ASAP.
Special shoutout: The gorilla, highlight of the house for sure.
8. Terror Tram
I managed to keep this a secret from my friend for the whole trip. He loves the tram during the day, and missed the voice over explaining how the terror tram works, so seeing his reaction to us stopping was an amazing experience. Still the terror tram can only do so well against the rest of the houses. Compared to the walking dead tram and titans of terror tram (the other 2 I've done) I think this one was the best. The Megans were hilarious and the Grabber actors nailed the role. Even the patriotic purgers got a laugh out of me, and I’m not a big Purge fan. I do wish things were a little more tightly packed though, the Megan area especially is so open that there’s no real tension. The bus video was also pretty dull.
Best scare: The purge actor up above the wooden fence who swung down at me. Not the best scare eventwise, but it was a lot more startling than the rest of the tram.
Special shoutout: The Grabber actor who walked past me, saw how excited I was about his balloons, and doubled back to offer me balloons before stabbing at me. One of the big event highlights for me, that guy was amazing.
9. Eternal Bloodlines
What a let down. I was really excited for this one, and the amazing synth music really helped build the hype. Then Saskia came to the front of the facade and started narrating and I was sold. But then we entered room and room of static props with almost 0 actors. When we did see actors it was almost always Saskia monologing and occasionally swiping at us. I do know we missed at least one big set piece since the crossbow scene at the start happened as we left the room. But even then this house felt so sad, just loads of props and no actors to fill the rooms. The empty black halls that other houses avoided were plentiful in this house and all of them had been tagged in white paint. While this is no fault of universal, seeing graffiti in the gothic monster house really did take away from the experience. The whole story was a bit difficult to follow, while also feeling over explained if that’s possible. Plus why are so many scares just Saskia, where are the monsters doing crazy things?! Overall this was the only house that actually made me upset, worst HHN house I’ve been to so far.
Best scare: the wolfman Frankenstein ending, a fanatic moment in an otherwise dull house.
Special shoutout: The looping audio that played “I took her home, but evil always returns” on loop with almost zero pause. Our line got stuck in there so people in the conga line started repeating it, myself included.
Scarezones:
Just a quick review for these. Lucha was hilarious and the absolute winner of the event. Seeing the actors do goofy wrestling moves at the guests was a blast. Crowz was surprisingly amazing, loved the stilt actors. We got to see one of them interact with a young kid and do goofy dances for her and give her a fistbump. What a wholesome horrific crow monster. Punkz was a let down, and the reused masks were very obvious. Skull Lordz was cool but really bled into the punk zone too much to stand out. The big guy on stilts was great though.
HHN 33 Orlando
About a month after Hollywood, I got to go to Orlando's event. I was a bit worried seeing all of the negativity surrounding the event. But regardless of that I LOVED this event. At this point I'm hooked and I sincerely hope I can find a way back next year. While the scare zones were definitely a miss the houses were really consistent across the board with some major standouts. I do wish the icons had more to do though, whenever I actually got to see them they were so fun and cool. They deserve a lot better than what they were given (and Surr3al deserved a more unique design, her sister really upstaged her design-wise).
1. Slaughter Sinema 2
Best house of the night for me by far. Just such a fun ride from start to finish. While I thought Zyborgs and Hatchet and Chains were a bit disappointing pretty much every other room delivered. As most folks have already mentioned Heavy Metal Hell and Mummy Strippers were the clear winners. I really hope Heavy Metal Hell actually becomes a house in the future. The videos played during the queue were also great, funnest line to wait in by far. Overall while not very scary (save for a good scare or two in Killer Kringles and Undead Clowns) I was just grinning ear to ear the whole time and at the end of the day that’s what I want at HHN even more than the scares. Fingers crossed for Slaughter Sinema 3 (and the original coming to Hollywood or Vegas).
Best scare: Mrs. Claus jumpscare me with a pie.
Special shoutout: The punk skeleton who saw me do the devil horns and returned the gesture. Rock on man!
Special-er shoutout: The lovely European family in front of me who talked to me in line about Halloween in the US and the event, and inside the house kept looking back and smiling every time one of them got scared. Absolutely the nicest folks I met at the event, I hope they liked the rest of the event.
2. Goblin's Feast
I was hyped for this house going in, but even then this was a pleasant surprise. I expected goofy fun, and I got that, but what I didn’t anticipate was wall to wall scares and some nasty slaughterhouse vibes mixed in. This house was just firing on all cylinders, it was silly, it was scary, it was high energy, it was even decently gory. What could’ve just been a pure comedy house instead felt really balanced. The actors did so much work keeping the scares high while also having some very fun characterful movements. Really strong house overall just a solid well balanced experience.
Best scare: The orc near the end of the forest section got me very good. In general all of the orcs got some great scares in.
Special shoutout: The entire cast who my group got to watch parade out of the house during cast shift, they were all in character taunting us or blowing kisses. It was fantastic.
3. Major Sweets Candy Factory
Shocked to see people rate this so low honestly. I was worried this would be a very gross out centric house ala Clowns-3D with it's vomit room. But I think the balance of gross visuals and genuinely nice candy smells was good here. The whole house was a sensory overload. I didn’t even realize how many moving props I missed that were above my head. I also missed all of the guest activated triggers which is sad. The real star of the show was the characters, Miss Treats was treat to watch, Major Sweets was hilariously campy, and Taffy seemed to be able to instant transmission with how quickly he could sneak up right next to folks. This house was just really fun, and I’m learning that fun is a major factor(y) in how sweet I think a house is.
Best scare: Taffy popping up out of nowhere to scare the daylights out of me.
Special shoutout: the constant barrage of smells, smoke, and vibrations. This house was a massive sensory overload in the best way.
4. Triplets of Terror
Remembers how after it's reveal some folks were like “man what if Triplets is actually secretly weird and fucked up and great”? Yeah Triplets is secretly weird and fucked up and great. Starting your house with a woman shouting “why are you doing this” while a child slits her throat in a gross rainy motor home is such a striking tone setter. From there I was just expecting endless brutality, and the house gets there eventually, but man that true crime podcast reveal was great surprise. Such a clever way to deliver the story. Though if I had 1 major criticism, it would be that even with the podcast room the story was a little hard to follow. This house really could’ve used a true podcast episode released. But beyond that this was a very solid house, good scares, fantastic actors who converted their characters unique personality with zero recorded dialogue, and some nasty gory bits. Really this house was carried by the actors, high energy and well coordinated team scares throughout. I hope the too brutal for release podcast for this house eventually sees the light of day, I think the lore of this house has some fun potential.
Best scare: The first or second adult junior appearance, he got right up in my face in an instant
Special shoutout: All of the Harmony actors, they had some insane energy throughout the house. My favorite triplet by far.
5. A Quiet Place
I wasn’t the biggest fan of hollywoods rendition, so imagine my surprise when the house opens with that tunnel followed by the title reveal. That set the tone for maybe the biggest surprise of the night for me. This house actually scared me, quite a bit. The low lighting and well hidden monster parts and animatronics really got me good. I don’t love the first Quite Place film, and I’ve skipped the other two, so the house didn’t click with me story wise. But in terms of atmosphere, eerie silence, and solid scares, this house nailed it.
Best scare: The first monster hand scare, after Hollywood I wasn’t expecting to see scareactor piloted monster bits like that, it got a good jump out of me.
Special shoutout: The sensory deprivation tunnel, even without getting the jumpscare in that section, that whole opening followed by the title reveal was amazing.
6. The Museum
More fungal than I was expecting. This house feels pretty hard to rate. On the one hand I really enjoyed what this was, the setting was fun, the scares that got me got me good, and it was a great blend of scary with some occasional goofiness. But also, I can see what this should have been. This needed a soundstage, and it needed less rotting and more museum. On its own merits this is still a good house, not nearly as bad (for me at least) as some reviews and it’s constantly short lines make it seem, but I can’t deny a bit of wasted potential.
Best scare: The bandage monster in the mist, I didn’t see it coming at all.
Special shoutout: The possessed mask who kept doing the wave with his arms while scaring folks.
7. Insidious
Ok, first some qualifiers:
Ok all of that out of the way, I didn’t love this house. It was definitely scary as hell and very long, but it just didn’t click with me. Where other houses this year were either super fun and wacky, or very weird and creative with their scares and/or storytelling, this was a just a house that scares people good. For me, that didn’t really make it stand out. That being said maybe a second run through would’ve skyrocketed this house for me considering the Hollywood version, which is also a scares people good and not much else kind of house, was my favorite at that event. I don’t know, seeing the insane praise this house has gotten makes me feel like I missed the magic on this one.
Best scare: The “She’s got your baby” audio being creepy enough in all its multidirectional glory that it made me jump.
Special shoutout: The two girls in front of me who tanked all the worst scares for me.
8. Eternal Bloodlines
Much better than Hollywood’s disappointing offering. This is still a super run dependent house due to the cinematic scares they go for having long set up time and requiring all the actors in a room to pop out in tandem, but when they go off they are very fun to watch. Set design was really fun in this house, the candle room was gorgeous and the use of height for Saskia to pop out of the window was a neat touch. That being said, while there was loads of Saskia, where was the bride? I think I saw her maybe twice in the entire house. The story was also a bit hard to follow, an issue Hollywood has as well. This was by no means a bad house, but compared to all the houses above it I think it really fails to standout.
Best scare: The Werewolf that comes flying in on a bungie cord, absolute standout scene in the house.
Special shoutout: No graffiti this time!
9. Ghostbusters
This was much scarier than the Hollywood version. But while Hollywood was a wacky mostly family friendly tour through the plot of the movie, this rendition lacked that playfulness to me. I was very happy to see more Garraka’s in this house, and that first frozen room is great. But I missed all the fun vibes, and I especially missed the marshmallow smell. It also doesn’t help that this is an IP really did not enjoy on the screen. This was a solid house, but I didn’t wow me.
Best scare: the first Garraka who got the first massive scream from me of the whole event (this was the first house on night 1).
Special shoutout: The man behind us who screamed and grabbed his chest and the walls around him at every scare. Not a normal scream, a massive blood curdling high pitch wail. It was like something out of a comedy movie. He made the house so much funnier and it turns out he’s a regular too!
10. Monstruos
The only bad house at the event in my opinion which is so disappointing because this was one I was looking forward to so much. The house just felt open and empty. I figured this must’ve been due to a bad run so I went again the second night, and I still had the same issues. The house is so open that a lot of scares don’t land. In theory this should mean the sets steal the show but they didn’t really wow me either. There was also a lot of dead zones, particularly in the pig carcass rooms. Looking at videos it seems like those rooms are just generally empty. The budget just felt low here, why was the final Muerte a cheap animatronic like that? Looking over old Hollywood videos of this house, it seems like Orlando really missed out. I’m glad so many other folks really vibed with this house, but man was I let down.
Best scare: While it only ever scared people in front of me, I can’t deny that the El Silbon head got people good.
Special shoutout: The crying woman in the first room with the baby carriage, members of my party thought that was a real guest having a bad night.
Scarezones:
This was definitely the weak point of the event. The entrance was fun, the chainsaw actors killed it and I loved seeing Surr3al and Sinist3r as you enter, but it wasn't anything special theme wise. Torture faire was great but way too spread out for what it was. Demon Queenz was lacking in set design but made up for it with some of the most aggressive actors outside of the entrance zone and some crazy cool character designs. Swamp was just ok for me, great ambiance but a bit lacking in originality and intensity. Blumhouse was straight up terrible, boring sets, boring character designs, and for a photo-op zone there was just little I cared to get a photo of.
Overall, I'm hooked! Both events were a blast and if these are what are considered lackluster events I cannot wait to see what future events look like!
As it being someone's first time going to HHN i had sort of a expectation with the haunted houses and horror actors.
Soon after I was quite disappointed because of how they managed the houses. They just endlessly had a line going through each room and you can basically see what to expect in the rooms ahead of you because they keep pushing you through. So almost every house wasnt scary except us getting scared by one of the people who was just supposed to guide us with a stick to the end of the maze lol.
To make matters even worse I know its preference and all that but the stay puft smore ghost thing tasted like a chew toy with expired marshmallow flavor it was horrid. Then not only that we ordered into the fog fish and chips, They were completely different to what the image was showing at universal and basically tasted worse then a fish filet at mcdonalds lol.
The rides were honestly fun by rides i mean mostly just the mummy ride and the hippogriff ride since they decided to close out the jurassic park ride the day I went :/
I’ve always been a bit more sensitive to louder noises than most, but I’ve noticed a few areas this year that are so particularly loud, I plug my ears every time I walk past. Most notably, the loudspeaker outside the facade Major Sweets, the Ratchet & Chains room in Slaughter Sinema, and getting stuck next to the speaker aimed right at the queue by the projector screen at Slaughter Sinema. I’m sure there’s a couple more specific spots I’m forgetting, but it seems like the audio balancing/levels is just ridiculous in a few areas. It goes without saying Nightmare Fuel is ridiculously loud as well to the point where my Apple Watch told me I was going to damage my hearing. I totally understand that loud noises are scary and it makes the houses more immersive but I feel like the noise in those specific spots is a little….beyond. Please don’t hold back and tell me if you think I’m wrong/crazy 😅
I’m looking to trade the Creature chase figure for an Eddy! Can send by mail or possibly do it in the park tomorrow evening (Orlando) :D
This was the first time attending for my wife and i and I was blown away. Did every house, scare zone, and the show all in one night with express tonight, which is the last Saturday event of this year. Didn’t really get scared but i thought it was super fun and really appreciate the production value. Slaughter sinema goblins and insidious are my favorite houses. Can’t wait to do it again next year
Do the hearing aid scenes not hurt????? I thought I was going deaf just walking through the house, how do you guys do it for so long?
I wrapped up my 2024 HHN Season on Wednesday (10/30) and after sitting on the event for a couple of days wanted to wrap up my thoughts here and see what others thought.
Firstly, I am an Orlando local who lives 15 minutes from the park. I was lucky enough to have a Frequent Fear Plus Pass and used that 8 times and then did one night with a RIP Tour for my birthday. I’ve been attending HHN since 2017, but really only became a “super fan” in 2021 (as far as engaging in the online communities, following speculation season closely, learning the lore from past years, etc).
Now for my thoughts…
Houses: I thought this was a really fun, diverse year for houses. I don’t think there was a “bad” one among the 10 and I loved that it was an originals-heavy lineup. Each of the original houses felt very intentional and fully formed- even the houses that weren’t high on my hype list (looking at you, Triplets!), I truly loved. The IPs were equally as strong, despite most being very low on my hype list when announced. Insidious is an all-timer for me. Certainly, some houses translated better than others, but there was not a single house I came out of truly disliking.
Scarezones: Woof. Where to start. First off, advertising the event as having 5 scarezones is ridiculous and a little insulting to the consumer. Duality of Fear was the biggest flop of any scarezone I think I’ve ever seen. A couple of blankets draped over some fog machines and a carelessly themed chainsaw horde is so… lazy. Especially when in years past there was a roaming chainsaw horde in addition to the 5 scarezones. Blumhouse was hardly a scarezone and ended up unbelievably bogged down with selfies (this isn’t a knock on people taking pics, it was clearly set up to be like that) and there were hardly any scare actors amongst the crowd. Demon Queens was so fun in theory, but fell a little flat for me. I can’t put my finger on what was missing. However, I can appreciate that it was an original thought with a level of effort put into executing it, unlike the first two I discussed. Swamp of the Undead and Torture Faire were 10/10 for me.
In my opinion, scarezones set the tone for the entire event and serve as a fun, immersive environment for fans to get some scares in while between houses. To only have three fully formed scarezones out of five is truly unacceptable and really cheapens an event that has previously been touted as one of the most creative haunts in the world.
Overall: Despite the houses, which I truly and really enjoyed, I think this year was pretty ho hum and will ultimately be forgotten over time. There was no truly cohesive theme that translated well throughout the park, the icons seemed like an afterthought rather than a priority. It was clear that Universal allowed Epic to take a massive chunk of resources from an event that typically gets a lot of love and care from the creative teams. It should not go unnoticed that this was the most expensive year for the event EVER and it feels like the experience the consumer received did not match that price hike. I NEVER look forward to closing out HHN, but this one feels like it’s run its course.
Here’s to 2025 speculation!
Anyone else feel HHN Orlando was way tamer this year than years past. Overall it feels like with the new parks in 2025 that the budget for 2024 was a bit low.
Riders closing early I went through two houses and 60% of the rooms were empty Less scare actors between houses Not as scary scare zones Less strobes in mazes Scare actors don’t try to stab you while walking
Anyone around tonight or tomorrow and have a Megan they want to get rid of? I have Eddie and Edgar Crow to trade.
Headed to HHN Hollywood tonight with GA and considering upgrading to Express but it’s obviously not a cheap upgrade. Anyone have any thoughts on how crowded it might tonight? It is a Saturday but it’s after Halloween so I’m not sure!
So I went and did the RIP tour. I am glad I did RIP since otherwise I wouldn't have seen every house but it was just so boring. All of it. except for the Dangerous Waters show. I loved that. Maybe because I am older and the scare actors were afraid to give me a heart attack, but none of it was scary. In the scare zones they got me to jump twice. I do appeciate that. And I felt sorry for the scare actors in the houses. I felt they must have been bored out of their minds. In order to be really scary you have to have the freedom and creativity to change things up and think on your feet and out of the box. Every scare actor that popped out had popped out for the people ahead which made it predictable. The actors seemed to be strictly locked into a dull repetitive narrow script and reminded me of factory workers having to tighten the same bolt over and over again for 8 hours. And they couldn't do anything else you could tell. Everything was pre-planned by people who probably had never been scare actors themselves. Working there must have been like watching paint dry. I guess maybe I could work in the scare zones, but definately not the houses. And I thought I'd like HHN more then Knotts but it turns out Knotts is way cooler maybe because all the actors are not locked into a movie that they had no part in writing.
Maybe I didn't realize it but it might be that I am just over Hollywood. The next day I visited the Medieval Torture Museum and the Museum of Death and that's ReAL horror.
My 12 year old went to HHN last night and bought the talking Chucky popcorn bucket and didn’t check it to make sure it works. Now he’s back in Jacksonville and it won’t work, no matter what. New batteries and all. Anyone else have any issues with theirs? I’m assuming there’s no way to return this.
I can’t wait to go to Epic, especially for Nintendo and Dark Universe. I told my friend who I go with well at least 2 extra days to try to get in. Assuming that the park will be full capacity for months especially around Halloween. Keeping my fingers crossed
I just realized that at 2am tomorrow the clocks will turn back to one. Does that mean the park will be open for an extra hour?
We have tickets to tomorrow nights event at USO but may change to Sunday due to a flight delay for some members of our party…
If we change, how does the last night of the event typically go? Less crowds? Less actors in the houses? Scare zones starting to be taken down? That kinda thing…
HHN is phenomenal (this’ll be my 11th year going) so I’d trust that every night would be great but I just wanted to double check on this sub if there’s anything I should know about regarding the final night typically.
