On this day, 4 years ago, a hostage situation occurred on this sub to have me removed as a mod

Can we still bring /u/le_canuck up on charges for being a lone wolf?

Looking for participants for the second annual r/hockeyfranchisedraft Game (See inside for details)

Looking for something to do in the depths of the NHL offseason? Do you know NHLers and NHL prospects extremely well? Do you follow and/or know European leagues extremely well? This is the game for you!

What it is:

  • The Franchise draft is a ~23 round snake draft where each team is represented by one reddit user and selects from the entire pool of players eligible to play in NHL (recent and near-future draftees and international players included). Real-life contracts do not matter, so its all about who will be most productive.
  • The goal is to construct the most competitive team you can over the next five to ten years or so.
  • The draft usually takes approximately a month to complete and requires that you check reddit (and ideally the discord group) daily.
  • The start date is to be determined. It will likely begin once a certain number of users are signed up, which obviously depends on interest. The sooner we can begin, the better!

Who we are:

  • Of the group "recruited" thus far, we're all hockey nuts who love discussing and arguing everything hockey. Some users have been active in various offseason simulations and trade deadline simulations that you may have come across in the past on r/hockey
  • As mentioned, we've got a discord to discuss picks and generally try to get through this dead period of the offseason. It isn't mandatory that you get involved in the discord, but you will get more out of the experience if you do.

Who you are:

  • Must be very, very active on reddit. This will likely be a 1+ month requirement and each member will be waiting for you to make your picks. Extended absences will (obviously) get you booted from the game.
  • You must know a lot about hockey or be willing to put the time in to do research. In the later rounds, you'll be likely be discussing non-top prospect guys, European players, and other lesser known players. You don't necessarily need to know those guys numbers off hand, but you should have a rough idea who they are or be willing to look them up and compare their relative values.
  • Not be a jerk. We love to debate, but know how to make your point without crossing the line or being pompous.

Feel free to ask questions below. Also, check out our subreddit /r/hockeyfranchisedraft to get a little bit more familiar with the game/though experiment. And, of couse, feel free to join our discord server as well

Anyone want to start up a weekly Board Game night on Table Top Simulator?

I'm bored as fuck lately and with no sports I have nothing going on in the evenings lately. I'd be down to host a weekly game if anyone is interested.

Happy Monday

Just wanted to drop by and say happy Monday to you all, I hope you have a great week and holiday (if you're not one of those crazy canuckleheads).

Also, Abe is still a spy. I just checked.

How's your golf game lookin?

So, I got hit by a car a couple years a go and long story short, the settlement came just in time for the summer and I decided to finally put some effort into my golf game now that I can afford to.

I bought a set of Wilson C200 irons, a Callaway 3 and 5 wood and a nice new putter to go with my driver and a couple wedges I already have that I like and I've been golfing like mad.

I used to shoot around 95-105 with a 93 being my personal best. Just 3 weeks and 7 rounds into the season I've managed to post a new personal best of 90 and I've cut down the triple bogey or worse holes to just 4 of them in my last 54 holes of golf. I'm thinking my goal will be to break 84 by the end of the summer.

Anyways, how's your game looking?

Easton Stick is a Champion!

Easton Stick, one of the Hockey Stick Companies, has won the FCS National Championship for North Dakota State with the Final of 38-24 over Eastern Washington today in Frisco Texas. Easton Stick From Omaha Creighton Prep (my Favorite part and also shitty part as he could have been a Nebraska Cornhusker had our coaching Staff recruited him to Lincoln) has become the winningest QB in FCS history.

Congrats Easton, but with a name like Easton Stick, I wished you had pursued Hockey instead of Football, but understandable as a Nebraskan, Football is the lifeblood for the State.

I need to discuss The Ballad of Buster Scruggs

Specifically Meal Ticket. Was it obvious that the relationship between the impresario and the artist was a toxic, but mutualistic necessity for both of them all along?

What reddit gimmicks do you enjoy? Which do you hate?

As an example there is a guy in /r/hockey recently whose name is Dildo (or something similar). He keeps trying to do some sort of roleplay thing and it's just not working for him

No disrespect for the VGK fans.

If you guys could just get knocked out of the playoffs so I dont have to eat a sock that'd be great.

Who would win the cup out of the teams already in the second round (teams still playing in a series don't count).

Winnipeg, Las Vegas, San Jose, Pittsburgh, Tampa Bay are the teams currently of choice.
