That is what I've been told be a company. The tree I have is massive. My gut says something is wrong.
Me- u/strangedaychronicles! Tonight good people of r/greenville look to the skies for there will be a space launch in the N Main area! Whilst my Ramen Surprise! last night got me close, my shelf-stable Baked Bean Kablammo! will surely make me achieve the desired escape velocity and leave the tendrils of gravity that keep us bound to this blue marble we call earth and its nasty hurricanes! Farewell (in about an hour)!
Why in God’s name would you post your place on Airbnb knowing that there are people out there desperately looking for air conditioning and a hot shower. I’ll need to find out that the place that they are renting doesn’t have power I mean, how stupid can you be?
Like a lot of us, my fridge and freezer are bare (But on as of tonight, thank goodness). Big box stores and chain supermarkets are great, but I thought maybe I could make a post here where we could share some love for smaller mom and pop local businesses and their specialty items to restock with once those places are open. After missing so many days of business I'm sure they could use the $$$.
I will share a few of my favorites to get us started!
My number one specialty food priority is getting over to Asian Market at 3245 Wade Hampton Blvd. They have this green papaya kimchi that I am just addicted to.
Saigon Market, also on Wade Hampton, always has a nice selection of Asian produce and I will probably grab napa cabbage, bean sprouts, and watercress there. I also like their regular kimchi.
Once La Esperanza is up and running with full power, I'll probably grab some poblano peppers, tomatillos, and frozen yuca there.
At Swamp Rabbit, I really like this lemon dill sauerkraut they have from Seratonin Ferments (kind of pricey but worth it imo).
And finally, I love to get the boneless beef shank (listed as nihari) at Holyland on Pleasantburg, along with Labneh, which is like an extra thick Greek yogurt sort of thing.
Which items from local mom and pop places are you looking forward to restocking once you get a chance?

Just got power and can help.
I live in Mauldin near Butler and Bethel. My house is under some construction, but I have power/internet and can offer the following for those nearby still without power:
• Gas stove to cook on
• Empty freezer and fridge
• Can exchange frozen water bottles for those with coolers if you prefer
• Washer and dryer
• One full bathroom with hot water
• Power outlets for charging (happy to come get medical equipment and return it charged if need be)
• WiFi for getting in touch as needed
Please DM me for details. Neighborhood looks ok. Might not answer right away, but I will.
Many flooded units at hampton harbor. no extractions occurred until today. Many of the families are first generation immigrants and have no one to go to. You can smell the mold from the parking lot. Most people are cooking over open fire. Bolt property management sent out an email to tenants reminding them to pay their rent. Additionally, they have been largely unreachable throughout this situation.

They have pallets of ice they’re giving away for free. Please only take what you need.
Anyone know of any volunteer opportunities around Greenville? I know I myself have an awful lot of free time and energy right now, and would love to help folks out. If anyone knows of any persons or organizations that’re looking for volunteer labor, please comment below.
This has to be one of the worst customer service emails after a natural disaster with a 6 day power outage affecting their residents.
Please don’t go where it is not safe. Please don’t give what isn’t extra. If you are okay, please help our shelter.
From small devices to big solar setups - what’s actually working and helping right now? What has been a bust?
I’m sure other people are getting pushed a bunch of ads like I am, but I’m curious what’s actually useful right now.
Panic buying was already rough with the hurricane and many of us still haven’t recovered and only have apple sauce and a few ramen packs with no electricity still to handle another panic buying episode with the port thing going on. please please please you do not need to stock up on 30 gallons of water, toilet paper, boxed meals, etc. we’re gonna be okay but not if everyone keeps up with the every man for themselves mentality.
Anyone you guys would recommend? Very stained carpets that smell like dog. Thanks
Please do not make standalone posts to ask who is open, who has gas, who has power, etc. Those posts will be removed and directed to the daily megathread. Be kind to your neighbors, everyone is struggling with the effects of this natural disaster.
Stay safe, r/greenville !
Hope you guys are all ok.
Just an FYI, Starlink's standard roam kit is on sale right now for $299, down from $499. There is a month to month as needed option.
There's been a lot of posts about internet access since a lot of us require it for work. My family and I are still without power and we noticed there is no info from Spectrum. Starlink isn't perfect, and you're not going to get comparable speeds, but we're getting it as a backup option and thought others may want to do the same.
I think most places like Best Buy have sold out and you'll need to get it online. Not an immediate fix, but a potential option in the future.
Just wanted to put it out there.
Spectrum finally spoke out after about 4 days
Do we still do it? No matter what the decision is people will be mad. This is a classic damned if we do and damned If we don’t scenario. Prayers for the decision makers… Thoughts?

Has anyone seen this?
Just got an email from our manager that we have to submit pto request as we normally would for Friday instead of it being covered / paid by the hospital . This way even though the hurricane was not in our control , Friday’s day off will come out of our pto. This is so frustrating especially knowing how well the comp is doing .
Does anyone else have same issue ?
I am out of state at the moment but am trying to make myself useful to my friends and neighbors at home. One thing I'm trying to do is get a list together of post-Helene support sites. This includes shelters, charging stations, food banks, etc. If y'all can help me verify any places or are aware of any places that I can add to the map... please let me know. I think Google Maps also lets me invite collaborators with a special link, so if anyone wants an invite to contribute please send me a message.
It's a Google map right now but if there is a better or more useful format I can make for y'all please let me know. I will keep working on this as I gather more information. Of course, comment/DM/text me if there's a problem with the map. If my silly little map helps even one person that would be amazing. 💚
Love you guys. Be safe.
