"Then arose new architects who after the manner of their barbarous nations erected buildings in that style which we call Gothic (dei Gotthi)." Florentine historiographer Giorgio Vasari (1511–1574) was the first to label the architecture of preceding centuries "Gothic," in reference to the Nordic tribes that overran the Roman empire in the sixth century. source

This article discusses the interesting variety of art remixes that stem from Grant DeVolson Wood's famous 1930 painting American Gothic in the Art Institute of Chicago. Is anyone else familiar with these works and their relevance to the Gothic genre overall? Please let me know. I am super intrigued by Wood's painting and the works it inspired. Let's get a discussion going!

Location: Ulm, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. The picture was taken by me in 2022. I took the snapshot because there was a Toto concert in front of the church.
All I am trying to do is find one of them that comes up as interesting to read books on my phone, which is called Google Books?
I know this isn't close to a typical post here, but i figured you guys would know a thing or two. I'm doing a shoot with a friend of mine and the two usual spots are not going to be an option for when we need them. i have:
I can't find a good place to match the aesthetic we are going for. We would like to be inside for most of it, but if what you suggest is perfect it won't matter to her that much. Thank all of you in advance.
Hello everyone. I recently lunched a podcast and it's safe to say I'm still finding my niche.
I would really like to have some guests on to talk about stuff that interests me like science, books, conspiracy theories, ninjutsu, and more. I tried DM-ing a few people on Instagram that have around 2k followers like, and interactions like I do on posts so I'm not reaching for people who don't care about smaller creators per say, but I got no response. I have 5 books published, and 3 of those are Gothic Horror so I aimed for the niche, but had no luck.
Does anyone have any recommendation on how I can find people that are willing to do a podcast, or are just advice on how to find those people and how to reach out to them?
I am not an architect, I just adore and really like Gothic architecture and I want to build a subtle and classy Gothic house please help. I don't know anything.
I took this photo during my trip and the atmosphere of this city has such a special place in my heart.

In the Van Arkel Chapel in the gothic Utrecht Dom Church, this fascinating scene can be seen on a corbel.
A corbel is a projecting support embedded within a wall, serving to carry weight from above, such as a balcony, beam, or cornice. Corbels are often elaborately decorated with carvings, such as figures or symbols, and are utilized in architecture as both a structural and decorative element.
The corbel shows two monsters (Hubertus hounds?) with hound heads and lion manes, of which the left one is being grasped in the mouth by a bearded man stretched out beneath it (or is it biting the hand?), while the right one is seizing another monster by the throat.
A Gothic church often contains remarkable sculptures. What examples do you know?

Hi all,
I just uploaded a post of some hidden spaces inside Wells Cathedral. Here is more, but this time from Lincoln Cathedral. These are from October last year.
Enjoy!

Hi everyone,
I was asked on a previous post to add some pictures of my experiences at triforium level in a couple of cathedrals in England. So, here's a few pictures of Wells Cathedral. I'll follow up in a second with some of Lincoln Cathedral as I'm close to hitting the picture limit.
These are from April last year, on a grey, rainy day.
Enjoy!

Does anyone know any Gothic artist to look into? Oil paintings or any art medium. Thanks for your help in advance.
