I’m having some issues with a new headset I bought. The headphones work great on the Xbox console and in black ops 6 on pc and Xbox in game chat but not on the Xbox app in parties. The mic monitoring is too strong and there’s not a setting to adjust it on the pc app. I basically have to yell for the party to register my mic on pc but in call of duty game chat I can adjust the settings to be able to speak quietly and have the mic register.
How can I fix this in Xbox parties on the pc app?
For parents or other busy people who have small bits of playtime, but still have that competitive streak in them, try fighting games. If you only have a couple minutes or think you might get interrupted, lab (practice) combos in the training rooms. When you have 10-15 minutes, do a match or two. Properly competitive folks will spend roughly 50% of their overall playtime in the training rooms anyway, and even 5 minutes in there can result in overall improvements.
Other genres that demand all your time are non-starters... League, Overwatch, Deadlock, matches are obviously too long, and you need to devote all your time to them. Fighting games for into nearly any schedule.
Anyway, just a thought to folks who might write off Fighting games.
I thought about playing Lust Goddess to maybe answer this question, but haven't done it yet.
For me its when i’m screaming for help when we’re getting flanked. I die and get nlamed.
I've been playing LCS on my old PSP, a really fun game, still amazed at how much they packed into a UMD... but my god the soundtrack sucks.
Like seriously I'm playing GTA 3 right now (the PS4 port, not the definitive edition), practically every song on each of the radio stations is at least something I wouldn't turn off if I was in my own car, even if they're not the things I'd purposefully put on myself.
But in LCS I was constantly changing the radio station hoping to find something good, something to take away the monotony of driving all the time, but no, none of the actual music was a hit.
I honestly got more entertainment out of listening to the radio station presenters between songs.
But other than that it was a fun experience playing as Toni Cipriani before and shortly after he was a Made Man.
It's interesting to see how paranoid Salvatore is in this after being screwed over by CJ in San Andreas.
I played "Fort Solis" and I am interested in "Still Wakes the Deep". So how are these to similar or different?
Every time I launch black ops 6 on pc it activates my webcam
Like seriously this helmet design in Vanquish is the worst helmet I've ever seen, it's like it's not proportioned correctly or something. I feel angry and confused whenever I look at it.
Game's fun though
The reviews for Dragon Age: The Veilguard are in! And might be a bit of a surprise to some gamers. I posted the other day about the expectations leading up to the release of this game, and the overall response was negative, it seems that a lot of gamers do not expect much from this Bioware and EA title. However, with IGN giving it a 9/10 (something different than a 7 for once) and other reviewers praising it, I'm wondering if people will change their minds and support this game. While the game has not even released yet to the public, time will tell if it is a success or not, perhaps this is a game to watch out for. What do you all think? Surprised by the reviews?

I was so stoked for new Dragon Age and even when first trailers outrage arrived I was like "nah, they are gonna make it good, it's just mishap, they will tune it". But now looking at reviews I lost all hope. Is it that my hopes were too high? Is nostalgia for older DA games making new game look bad?
They're slightly creepy and intense, yet very intelligent and well spoken. I absolutely love their dialogue and voice acting. Sometimes they give off insane uncanny valley vibes, but that's the part that makes them entertaining and funny 😭
I love how their react to your choices. When they criticize you if you killed off a character, or praise you if you get the good ending. They feel so genuine and alive. I hope more games make these type of characters
(Games in the photo: Until Dawn, Dark Pictures, The Quarry, Detroit Become Human)
Found these classics in my closet. Checked the discs they still work lol.
I think many of us who approach gaming in good faith are completely tired of every conversation that surrounds reviews when games drop in today’s market.
I might be old (29), but I come from the Giant Bomb line of thinking, that reviews have always been subjective based tools, that you as the consumer use to weigh in on your decision making process when buying games you have interest in. But they ultimately aren’t meant to be the definitive way to make that decision for you.
But like with many other types of discourse, the internet and the communities that make up the bulk of gamings online “fandoms” have completely rewritten what reviews are “supposed to be”.
Nowadays if you aren’t glowing about a release, you’re either perceived as trying to be contrarian, overly negative, or trying to content farm interactions for your own personal gain. But if you’re too positive, people start saying you’re bought, a shill, and not critical enough.
We’ve reached this really strange place where you have two herds of sheep constantly surrounding gaming discourse that have two ways of group thinking.
But the weird thing is, it seems like everyday more and more are just accepting this new reality instead of calling it out. If you are brave enough to call it out, once again ppl label you one of these titles.
I’m not kidding when it feels like I’m watching the simulation truly glitch in real time because that’s what gaming discourse feels like in 2024. A bunch of internet kids who don’t really know how to communicate their ideas past saying “good” or “bad”.
So how are creators and outlets supposed to review games when people are completely out of their mind crazy, not knowing what they want anymore? I’ve seen creators praised constantly for being critical, but the second, and I mean, literal second they post something positive they get eaten alive in their comment sections.
The same goes for more positive creators, the minute they utter something negative they get torn apart.
Is it really that everyone has mentally returned to being children? That the majority of people these days don’t want to have any sort of conversation using nuance to analyze a new release either positively or negatively?
It’s baffling…
In the past weeks, I developed a text adventure game, still it's in progress. In the game I have something like "social points", but I'm looking for a better word (question at the end [EDIT: it's solved]).
The player gets and looses those "social points" by interacting with the NPC. Each NPC has its own individual "social points" score. Also, the number "social points" is used to determine whether certain options are available or not available.
English isn't my first language. So, the term "social points" sounds a bit awkward for the described system. Also I don't know a proper term in my first language. However, someone told me that many games use such a system. So, my question is: What's a common term / word for such a system? Or which word is usually used in games to describe such a system?
EDIT: I have the answer, it's "reputation". Thanks for all replies!
60fps looks uncanny and unnatural in movies and TV, but is ideal for gaming.
24fps looks horrendous and choppy in video games, but is ideal for movies and TV.
How come that is? I get why higher frames equals more clarity for games, but I don't get why it doesn't look unnatural the way it does in movies; likewise I get why lower frames equals less clarity in games, but not why it somehow looks totally natural in movies.
(If there's a better sub to talk about this lmk, I can't think of one)
I’m going through some heavy personal stuff and have been for a long time now. I had my first counselling session today, so off the back of that, I was wondering what game or games do people play as personal therapy when you are depressed or just dealing with the less fun side of life? Thanks for any and all suggestions. Take care.
I’ve been looking for a third person action combat game and most have recommended RE4 Remake, my question is, while I’m aware the game is part of a horror series, does it feature many jumpscares, horror tense scenes or more action orientated?
I’m looking for something more action based with occasional horror (like tlou) is alright, is this game suitable for what I want?
Lately I can't get into games that don't get to the action right away. I tried to enjoy Cyberpunk but there's just too much talking and following NPCs.
I like games like Mortal Kombat, Hades, Dave The Diver (easy to ignore story) and Hitman.
I grew up in a household where Wi-Fi came a bit later than most families. While that was a hindrance at times, it ultimately made me a better gamer, as I had to make the most of what I had. I would often seek out game guides and discuss puzzle solutions with others—something that seems less common now.
If more AAA titles offered a physical media option alongside the digital game, I’d probably be willing to pay the extra money. I just finished the Silent Hill 2 Remake, and it brought back memories of playing on the big box TV at my parents' house. I loved the remaster, but I would have enjoyed flipping through a book about the game, even though I'm already somewhat familiar with the original puzzles.
I remember laying out the GTAV map next to me, complete with cheat codes written in the margins—even when I didn't really need it. Does anyone else feel similarly about the value of added physical media in gaming?
So I’ve been reading a lot of the reviews that just went live this morning, the bigger outlets are reviewing it fairly positively
But both Skill Up & Matty Plays are stating it’s arguably the biggest disappointment of 2024.
What are the thoughts of fans who were looking forward to Veilgurad seeing how all over the place the reviews seem to be?
Personally as someone who’s picky about writing, hearing the writing is pretty bad is a big bummer for me. Good writing can usually make me push through anything.
Please note: I don’t care about culture wars, and I don’t think Veilguard is trying to push political messaging that a lot of the grifters are stating they are. I’m a life long BioWare fan and just care about the studio in general.
This isn't some praise or anything, I am curious since it's my first time playing any GOW game, I have been purposely holding out with playing GOW 2018 because I HATE having to wait for something to come out.
Wether it's a TV show, Movie, Game, Book, anything that is a continuation I really don't enjoy waiting for the next "part" to be released, since I play on my PC, When I realized I wanted to play GOW there was talk of Ragnarok or it may have been released already I am not sure.
Either way I decided to wait off with it until Ragnarok is released on PC, I found out it was released pretty recently on PC, might have been a long time ago I am not up to date AT ALL on gaming news or anything like that.
Either way I got GOW 2018 started it, stopped, had problems with graphics which made me lose interest for a little while, long story short I started it again and it's great so far.
The point is that it took me like 15 minutes to get used to some of the mechanics, controls and more because I am not used to these types of games I guess, mainly the camera controls were difficult for me.
Once I figured it out a little more I kept playing and realized that there are a lot of "Outcomes"? if that's what you would call them, during gameplay...
Again not sure how to explain but I changed settings, controls, difficulties and many more things during my first run of the game, and did those things so much that it kind of slowed it, either way there were some fight scenes and animations that made me think that the game really is different depends on the difficulty?
That when fighting bosses blocking/attacking/evading at specific times can trigger cutscenes, or change the duration of the fight or just in general the timing of everything can lead to different outcomes?
Just correct me if I am wrong it just seems like that to me, (without ranting an example is when you beat up the stranger on the roof and have 2 options, Counter. Attack, I played on a low difficulty which I think resulted in the stranger not even attacking me at all...)
Things like what I mentioned, or just enemies not using specific attacks or anything like that makes me think that maybe I should just replay the game?
Sorry for the rant, just wanted to ask, either way I am really liking the game so far, just wanna know if I miss stuff by playing on certain settings, difficulties or if I miss out on some things depending on HOW I play and what I do in the game...
