Reducing Grocery Waste At Home

Hey!

I need your opinion for a project I'm working on, I'm trying to see the value behind problems 😄

I'm exploring a potential solution for a problem I face every week, grocery wasted at home.

Due to busy lifestyle and unawareness of my grocery in the pantry & fridge I end up wasting a lot of grocery. I noticed the waste is due to expired food, redundant items and me forgetting where I stored my grocery. (I know this problem sounds ridiculous, but I'm curious how many people have this problem)

Sooo, I have a survey, could you please share your thoughts (3 mins max)?

https://forms.gle/rXAwbSoZ9LAw592u8

Note: No personal data is collected. Only your name (but honestly you can write any name. I would really appreciate your opinions and thoughts).

Electronics store with points

Hello everyone. Please excuse the butchered title. I need to buy a new laptop. And wondering where I could get it that would also help accumulate some rewards points - Aeroplan, Air Miles, Optimum points etc. Any suggestions are welcome.

Full-length freestanding mirror that I don't have to worry about breaking

Long shot, but figured I'd try here, first. Need a freestanding mirror I can fold & tuck away somewhere when it's not in use. Don't wanna have to worry about breaking it if it gets bumped and falls or whatever - maybe polished steel or some kinda plastic, I dunno. Need it to be full-length, and cheap. I realize I'm practically asking for the world here, but maybe there are some good options I'm not thinking of, here.

Cell phone + internet plan

Hi everyone,

I'm looking for recommendations for high-speed WiFi and a cell phone package. I need a cell phone plan with a minimum of 25 GB of data and constant coverage since I work remotely, travel often and often use my phone as a hotspot. Reliable reception is essential, so I'm ruling out some of the more affordable providers.

Currently, I have home internet with Carrytel, which costs $96, but the service is terrible, so I need to switch. My cell phone bill is $116 and includes 75 GB of data.

Can anyone point me to current offers or promos to reduce my bills while still meeting these requirements?
Thank you!!

What are the cheapest vegetables/fruits that one can buy?

Hello Everyone,

I was wondering what are the veggies that you buy at the grocery store that are cheaper.

Mine is

  • Spinach (Comes to $1.99) a small packet which me and my partner eat for 1 meal.

  • Bananas(1.9 /lb)

What do you get cheap in the produce section?

Best way to buy a used car cheap?

I have always bought my cars cash but this time it looks like I might need to get a loan to help carry the cost.

How does it work and whats the best way to approach this?

I can put about $5000-$7000 cash but ill probably need a loan to get to $10,000 (unless I stumble across an amazing deal).

If I just go to any bank/credit union, I know they will give me a rate and a loan, but is that the best way to do it? Should I take out an equity loan or something else?

Looking for your input, dont want to make an expensive mistake. Thanks!

Frugal Friendly Farmers Markets in GTA West?

When I was growing up Farmers Markets were a great way to cut out the middle man and support local growers and makers while getting a very fair price.

Seems like these days Farmers Markets are more expensive than the grocery store. I saw liter of maple syrup for 40 dollars last weekend at farmers market.

My wife bought a small bag of loose leaf tea for $21.

Are there any markets around that still have vendors with great prices?

Alternatives to loblaws

Used to buy the 50% off items all the time. Now that it's only 30% it doesn't seem worth it. Any alternatives? Loblaws sucks now

Are these water bottles actually better for the environment? Was buying them because they were cheaper but now almost the same price and if there worse I don’t want em.

Wouldn’t it be worse because then only green bottles can only be recycled for these specific waterbottles? Where as clear ones could be use for different brands? No subreddits made for asking questions will let me post a pic so I had to improvise

Cheap, minimalist wireless ear buds

I'm a security guard, working the night shift. I walk for 8-12 hours at a time without seeing a soul, it gets boring. My solution - podcasts and audiobooks. My problem - technically not allowed by the employer, and semi-fascist use of surveillance cameras to keep tabs on us by said employer.

So I'm looking for cheap, decent wireless earbuds (ear buds? mans-of-war, men-of-war?) - the smaller in profile they are, the much better. Ideally, it'd be one of those numbers I just pop into my ear and nothing is sticking out.

Appreciate the help.

Price matching question

Hello!

I'm located in Ontario, usually do my grocery shopping at Superstore, using the Flipp app to Price match. This week, Foodland has Club House spices on for 20% off at the checkout (this is how it reads in the flyer). If I took the flyer/flipp app to the superstore, would they:

a) Honor/match the 20% discount off their own price?

b) Honor/match the discounted Foodland price (provided I can prove what it is)?

c) Tell me to kick rocks with this 'discount at the checkout' crap?

EDIT: Hit post too soon.

Best places to buy meat in Toronto?

I live in the west end, and unfortunately my favourite butcher closed shop. They had fantastic prices on just about everything, plus regular sales that were usually lower than sales at the big stores. But I haven't found anyone to replace them. The meat from Farm Boy is fantastic quality and super delicious, but incredibly expensive (14 bucks for 9 porkchops? On sale?!. My local no frills is of dubious quality, and I don't find the prices at Halendas all that great. Does anyone have any ideas?

Anyone know where to get cheap shoes nowadays?

I made the mistake of posting this on r/Frugal when I should've posted here in the first place.

The problem: Ever since payless closed, I've been at a loss for finding shoes. I hate walmart's shoes as they never have anything in my size, forcing me to buy mens that don't fit/support me right. (I'm a women's 11½ / 11 wide, men's 10/10½) I've tried looking online too but online shoes start at $90 and up, I don't have that much to spend. My budget is 40-60 bucks, maximum and I am both looking for comfortable walking shoes, runners and/or winter boots.

Petro points? Ontario

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but anyone know how to redeem these for fuel? Do I pump first then go in? Or go in then pump?

I have $20 worth of points and just want to put $20 of fuel in my car.

I googled it and it says I can just not how. Anyone have experience with this?
