Go out and grab a stout from the source, or enjoy one from your cellar today for International Stout Day.
Also, this is as good a time as any to ask about your favorite local stout. It’s been a while (Dec. 2021), but Black December from Orchestrated Minds was magnificent.
Share some feedback, folks. Who's loving what and why???
Creative Loafing: 15 hot new Tampa Bay restaurants, bars and breweries that opened this fall
Sun Lab Brewing opened in Bradenton late last month. We've all enjoyed their beer for some time, now it's time to visit.
More info from SRQ Magazine:
Sun Lab Brewing had its official grand opening this past weekend, but it’s a business that has been taking root for quite some time.
“I’ve been in the beer business for over twenty years,” says Sun Lab founder Keith Fekete. “Sun Lab is kind of a seed that I planted in my head many years ago, something that I always wanted to start up. I was finally able to do that in the fall of 2019.”
Sun Lab started off as a nomadic brewery, brewing beer at other facilities and putting it straight into distribution. But the ultimate goal was always to have a brick and mortar location with a taproom and brewery. After delays brought about by Covid and rising real estate prices, Fekete was finally able to open the doors to his new taproom in July of 2024. Fekete’s plan was to soft launch the brewery and taproom and do a grand opening earlier this month. Those plans were pushed back in the wake of Hurricane Milton.
JBM 35 was 10 years ago and it was a banger. Untappd has it at a 4.61 with 1.3K check-ins.
It's a 16.5% ABV Double barrel-aged imperial stout that spent its first 17 months in Barbados rum barrels, before being finished in Henry McKenna 10-year-old bourbon barrels for an additional 9 months. 3 Sons then treated the beer with raw coconut chips, desiccated coconut, toasted coconut, Peruvian cacao nibs, and single estate Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee.

The brewery is moving to a new location and rebranding itself as The Collective at Escape*. The new locale looks to be a dynamic destination for beer lovers and foodies alike in Florida’s Sports Coast. The Collective’s grand opening is set for late fall 2024. Luckily, there’s a soft launch of the new brewery and taproom on October 25. That’s this Saturday.*
It's called Sixth Man Lager and it's the first local craft beer deal in team history.
In celebration of the partnership announcement, Crooked Can is unveiling a new, co-branded Magic craft beer, the Sixth Man Lager, that will be available at the brewery and select retailers in Central Florida. The Sixth Man Lager (photo above) will also make its debut at Kia Center on October 25 for the Magic’s home opener vs. the Brooklyn Nets.
"The Magic are thrilled to team up with a local favorite and established brand like Crooked Can Brewery,” said Magic Senior Vice President of Global Partnerships J.T. McWalters. “As two organizations with Central Florida roots, we have a lot in common – pride for our community and a strong connection with our fans. With an already established Central Florida following we look forward to growing together and amplifying our efforts in the local community.”
Sad news for the Jacksonville brewery. They opened two and a half years ago.
"As we come up to our lease renewal, we've reflected on the time and energy it takes to keep the brewery running and beer in the kegs, and have decided it's no longer something we want to continue," they posted on Facebook. -- more on Jacksonville.com

First Magnitude in Gainesville will celebrate their 10-year anniversary on Saturday, August 17. They announced four new beers for the party:
DECADES, West Coast IPA — This special IPA is a hop lover’s dream, featuring Citra hops in FOUR distinct ways to deliver a symphony of citrus and tropical notes. We then dry-hopped with Necatron for that extra punch of juicy goodness. But that’s not all—fermented with wildflower honey for a touch of floral sweetness! ABV: 7.4%
SPECIAL DELIVERY, Hazy IPA — Like a certain parcel service, we love logistics — hop logistics, that is. Galaxy, Sabro, CTZ Cryo, El Dorado Cryo, & HBC 586 practically spill off the truck with this IPA. ABV: 6.5%
BEST DAY EVER, Pineapple Vanilla Soft Serve Sour — Brewed with vanilla, soft serve mix, pineapple, and milk sugar, best day ever is a Creamy, Dreamy sour delight that’s packed with pineapple goodness and has the goldilocks balance between sweet and tart. ABV: 6.0%
BRIGHTSIDE BLUEBERRY + RASPBERRY Cider — An effervescent, slightly sweet hard apple cider with bursts of juicy blueberries and tangy raspberries that will delightfully dance on your tastebuds with vibrant fruit flavors and a crisp apple finish. And it’s PINK! ABV: 5.5%

So I have a bit of a problem. I have had some Bourbon County Stouts (of various varieties) in a temperature controlled mini fridge for about 8-9 years now and I don't drink any more. I'd hate to just throw them away but I'm not sure how I can go about getting money for them when I don't exactly have a license to sell alcohol. I'm sure there are some people in the Tampa Bay Area that would be interested but I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this or besides Reddit idk how to reach out to find someone. I need a Beer-Begone-Kenobi to help say Goodbye There to these beers
