I just listened to Black Friday Rule on Swagger again, and I noticed the third line of the song
To kiss with a girl who's as lovely as you
but I always though it was "as ugly as me". And sure enough, on Alive Behind the Green Door, it's definitely
To kiss with a girl who's as ugly as me
I know I'll be singing about the girl and my ugly face any time I hear the song, but what version did you hear first, and what version do you sing?
Are there any other lyrics you know of that differ between Alive Behind the Green Door and the studio albums?
Kind of a long shot but does anyone have one in a size L or XL and is willing to sell it
I am so happy.
Some person came up to me when I was dancing and said “you are the song called ‘the worst day since yesterday”. I was like hmm I’ve never heard it. Gave it a listen and loved it! Big fan of the band now. But I still can’t figure out whether that was a compliment or an insult😂 I’m an awful dancer so I wouldn’t be offended if it was an insult, but I just need to know! I can’t decipher the lyrics myself lol.
Surprised it was only 12 times, tbh. It makes me cry almost every time.
A person I'm very close to went through a period of extreme depression and planned suicide a couple of years ago. For various reasons we were out of touch then, and I only found out about it when we reconnected.
This song always makes me think of it and how I wasn't there for her when I should have been, and how I could have lost her forever and not even known it at the time.
"Life's only life with you in this song"
When living in Brazil, we had a large back yard and I would ruck with a 50lb back for 30 min after I got home from work and listened to music with Youtube music that learns from your preferences. After a Dropkick Murphys song, the song If I Ever Leave This World Alive came on. Immediately memories of my son came to my mind who committed suicide at the age of 30 in 2019. Luckily for me, it was dark because I was snot sobbing over his memory and loss as the song was playing. I must have listened to it about ten times in a row. As I finished, I went in the house and Ms Misantropo86 asked if everything was ok because my eyes were all red from crying so much. Shortly after, I started therapy. The song still gets to me, but not in the emotional wreck sort of way, but of the bittersweet memories of losing loved ones in the way it is a "dor boa" -- good pain.
Anyway, I wanted to post this because I just listened to it again while exercising and wanted to share the story of how emotionally evocative this song is much like Free by Florence and the Machine.
Good seats. Sec 313, row a.
Best offer takes them.
According to a Facebook post by the german Punkrock festival Ruhrpott Rodeo, Flogging Molly will be on their farewell tour in 2025. How and where was it announced that Flogging Molly are calling it quits? I didn't realise and can't find anything else about it. Does anyone have any info?
I have 4 tickets for sale tonight that I cant split unfortunately. Looking for any offers ($15-20/ticket). Let me know if interested!
I want to see them in a few days but I have work at 6 the next day. Show starts at 7 and one site says it goes til 8:30, but that doesn't sound accurate to me. I've seen them a few times before and their show length always seems to vary pretty significantly.
Edit: Just saw on Ticketmaster that doors open at 7 and the show actually doesn't start til 8! Looking less likely that I'll be able to see them :(
Is anyone going to the flagstaff show tomorrow? We will be camping at the connected campground hopefully the smoke from the fire won’t be an issue!
Fuckin' Ticketmaster amiright?
Any of you sweet bastards going to the show tonight? Currently driving from Philly and about half way there
Thank you for giving me a pick and chatting a bit before the show. I appreciate your kindness, even if you never see this 🫶
Minnesota has one or two reasonably proper Irish bars, with no lack for other bars. I was wondering if Flogging Molly had a habit of going anywhere after performing (O’Donovan’s?) to unwind and hold court after a show? Seen ‘em live enough that I ought to buy them a round in appreciation, if I can.
Free - just want it to go to a fan who will be able to attend. DM me your Ticketmaster email and favorite Twin Cities restaurant and it's yours.
Enjoy this mix I made. Songs are edited in and out of one another pretty seamlessly. It’s a lot of fun to listen to.
Enjoy.
just saw them in dublin and it was great!! besides this one drunk guy who kept walking through the crowd and sniffing people😭 i got this tattoo to commemorate my favorite song. and yes i got the spelling error fixed, that’s what i deserve for getting a tattoo in a country with a different alphabet:(
Do they ever play other than what is listed on their site? Maybe at smaller local establishments or their favorite places?
Tomorrow I'll be arriving in Dublin for the first time for a few days, tour around Ireland, then back for a little bit in Dublin later in September.
Great show! But who is that guy?
Nah, I'm not talking about Dave...
Does anyone know what time their show in Oberhausen (🇩🇪) starts tonight? The website says 6pm, but I assume that the two special guests Fiddler's Green and The Feelgood McLouds will perform first. We're a bit worried about missing the start of the show as we have a slightly longer journey.
Didn't realize a new flogging Molly was out until tonight. So I turned it on and listened to it all, when now is the time came on, I felt I had heard this song before. I realized it sounds very familiar to this present state of grace. It has to be a sequel or homage song, correct? Or am I going crazy?
