Silver Springs

I have a recollection of reading an interview with Stevie where she implied or even stated that her energy in the 1997 live Silver Springs performance was less about the past love affair with LB falling apart and more about LB and MF cutting her best song from Rumours.

Does anyone have a source for that or did I make that up in my head?

How would you refer to the Rumors track list?

Not sure if this is exactly the right sub so sorry if its not. I wanted to sign off the note of the flowers I'm getting for my SO with the song "You make loving fun" by Fleetwood Mac since we both love Fleetwood Mac and its what got us talking in the first place but I wanted to put it as "Rumors side B tack 2" or should it be "Rumors track 8"?

I just heard Stevie’s version for the first time the other day. I love this song so much. So haunting. What is it about?

Stevie and Lindsey now?

Hey I got introduced to FleetwoodMac through my dad and I’ve gotten into the lore that is Stevie and Lindsey’s relationship. I am wondering how is their relationship today? I heard an interview with Stevie saying they will never be close again and then Lindsey saying she’s learning to trust him as a friend again. Would love any answers :)

Does Stevie Nicks deserve to be called "The Queen of Rock and Roll?"

Imho Stevie Nicks deserves this title but so does Christine McVie and countless other women from the 1960s to the present. Before the 20th century and the invention of the phonograph, radio and tv women didnt have a place among the great songwriters. They weren't selected or respected as great artists. But the 20th century changed all that. For the first time in human history women were recognized and praised for thier artistic abilities. And Stevie Nicks is definelty at the center of that stage. Agree or disagree? What do you think about Nicks and how her work has impacted great art?

Why is Go Your Own Way so popular?

I think its a nice song but I just don’t get why most of the Fleetwood Mac fans think its one of the greatest songs ever written. I like the lyrics, I like the attitude but its the only song on the album that just feels generic to me. To be honest I think its the least great song on Rumours. I just don’t think it comes anywhere close to songs like The Chain, Dreams or Gold Dust Woman.

What do you think?

Wedding FM Songs

I’m sorry as I’m sure this has probably been asked before, but I don’t know how/ where to search for it.

I’ve been working diligently on my wedding playlist and it’s been fun and relatively easy… until I get to my favorite band.

Most of the songs that seem most appropriate are Christine songs. But my favorite band member is Lindsey. I’d love to be able to find one with Lindsey singing (though not strictly necessary), with emotional and lyrical depth, but more about the celebration of love rather than the devastation of love.

Does anyone have any good ideas for FM wedding songs? Thanks!

Lindsay producing for other artist

Do you think he could (in theory) produce amazing albums for other artists, simular to what he did with Rumors today, or maybe 10 years ago?

Landslide studio version or live version('97)

I noticed a little discussion about which version might be the best. What do you guys think? I personally like the studio version more, mainly because of the guitar solo. Even though it only needs a couple of seconds I think it contributes fantastically to the atmosphere, much more than the live version. But - of course - the live performance is also excellent.

What do you think?

The recent finding of the Apr 15th 1973 show is a huge deal

Here's the link to the show if you haven't heard it yet: https://youtu.be/ZWJHygILsVw?si=gJIbQXfLKJJ0RjAE

1973 is the only year from FM’s history that there hasn’t been at least 1 full concert recording available. All we’ve had is Miles Away & Believe Me from the Midnight Special, a 1 min clip of Going Down (which is not even the same audio and clip), and the live version of Homeward Bound from the 1969-1974 box set (its safe to assume that one’s from '73). So from the Penguin lineup, there was no recordings available until now.

This also helps us understand a bit on how the band was on stage, and clearly they wanted Walker to take over more as the frontman, with Welch/McVie only singing lead on 1 song each. But it’s only one concert, so who knows how others might’ve been.

In a 2006 Q&A, John McVie stated that he had a ton of Fleetwood Mac concert soundboard tapes, including one from the time Dave Walker was with the band, but he also said that the band had no plans to release anything like that (And I doubt they ever will, they’re too busy pressing the picture disc of Rumours lmao). All in all, huge thing for Fleetwood Mac fans and its awesome to finally have at least 1 recording from every lineup and year of the band.

Richard and/or Ken, thank you

Whichever one (or both?) of these bastards hammered Sisters of the Moon into the masterpiece it is on Tusk, thank you. The demo was sick. Live versions are ok. The outtake was … interesting. But the final cut is friggin other-worldly, and I am so, so glad it exists. The sustain in the solo? Are you kidding me?

Ok, that is all.

Silver Spring

I have an Ipod with 11K songs on it that just shuffles. "Silver Spring" just came up and I had to wonder: how is it Stevie didn't just quit altogether when the song was rejected for inclusion on the album? Along with "Dreams" and, "Go Your Own Way," it's one of the top three songs from those sessions (IMO). If a masterpiece I created was disrespected like that leaving would definitely be on my mind. That she stayed and went on to author and perform many more masterpieces for this band is a testament to her artistic ability and will.

Does anyone else find You Make Loving Fun melancholy?

I've been thinking quite a bit about that song today. I've always found it sad or bitter/sweet musically. I distinctly remember hearing it as a child and it really struck me. That chords sequence for the verses is just haunting to me, along with Christine's melody and singing over the top. Which is in complete contrast to the lyrics which are optimistic and hopeful about new love. And the song does end on a more musically positive vibe. I just love the whole package. It's an amazing piece of work.
