Albums similar to Fleetwood Mac's THEN PLAY ON?

Then Play On might actually be my favorite Fleetwood Mac album. Not that the other lineups didn't bring something phenomenal, but this album just ticks all the right boxes for me. I love how it stays true to their earlier bluesy sound while taking it in a deeper, much more complex and artistic direction.

Any recommendations for albums with a similar vibe? Would love to dive into more like this.

My Tusk songs rank

Tusk is my favorite album. I really don't like Christine's songs that much in this one. I hope I don't get hated on as much as I did in the Rumors songs post haha.

FM Insta is now live!

No noteworthy followers yet other than the 4. This is like death by a thousand paper cuts. If they start posting the same kind of crap that they post on LB’s site, I have no interest but what does this mean?!

Why is it that there aren’t any proper music videos for their big hits at the beginning of the Lindsey/stevie era ?

I just heard the actual song “tango in the night” from the same album. I love it, but can’t find a live performance of the same song on YouTube. Is there a video performance I can check out?

I need help with the lyrics of "Rhiannon"

Hi, I'm thinking about using some of the lyrics to Rhiannon in a tattoo and I'm facing a bit of a problem. That's why I'm looking for the correct, official lyrics for "Rhiannon", as all of them that can be found on the internet are different from each other.

In one half of them it says "she is the darkness" and in the other half it says "she is to darkness"...which really makes a difference.
In the studio and live versions of the song it sounds a little bit like it's "the", but it's never clear enough to say for sure.

Does anyone happen to have the officially released lyrics to accompany an LP or in a book or something?

Thanks in advance :)

Over My Head - my favorite song and I don’t get why yall don’t appreciate

Over my head is such an incredible song, and it brings me so much happiness. There’s something magical about it.

Why the disrespect and lack of appreciation?

WHY the new Instagram though?

I know we have beat this like a dead horse but I need to think about something besides the election results, ok? 😂. Why the new insta with just them following? What is the long game? I know they are probably done but I am still holding out a glimmer of hope that I will see Lindsey and Stevie do something at the very least. The world is burning down around us, so why not?? 😫

FM Record Collection Update!

https://preview.redd.it/bgwgr6sxh90e1.jpg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa97a79e08b37d8aa3c86c64ab89c294480feb18

Hi everyone, so I thought that I'd update you on some new additions to my record collection after the amazing response last time. You can find my collection here

So the new additions, in chronological order of purchase...

  • Blues Experience by Jake Shimabukuro and Mick Fleetwood. A beautiful, moving, instrumental version of Songbird features at the very end of this album - one that I would recommend everyone on this subreddit has a listen to. It feels as if this was Mick's way of saying goodbye. Many thanks to u/Immediate_Paint_4823, who is without a doubt the Fleetwood Mac expert on this subreddit, for suggesting buying the record through Amazon - which meant I got the record for £20 instead of £60+!
  • Tango in the Night by Fleetwood Mac. Now, I do already have a repressing of this record. However, this is an original pressing that someone gave to me as a birthday present from an incredibly close family friend. Coincidentally, she bought this record when she was 16 back in 1987 - it was the first record she ever bought. I started collecting at 16, so it was a lovely full circle moment.
  • Solo Anthology: The Best of Lindsey Buckingham. I've been wanting to get this for quite a while, but Discogs prices were through the roof for a decent copy. Also, it hasn't been in-stock at HMV for quite a while, where it is usually sold for £70. A sibling found this for me whilst at a local record store for only £50 - so it was a massive steal! I'm yet to listen to this fully - it is a 6LP set, so might take me a little while. The live version of 'Stephanie' is what I'm looking forward to most!
  • Albatross/Jigsaw Puzzle Blues Single by Fleetwood Mac. On red vinyl. I accidentally played this on 33rpm instead of 45rpm - Albatross was quite eerie!
  • Kiln House by Fleetwood Mac. I haven't listened to this album yet - not even through streaming service. I'm sure it is going to be an interesting listen
  • 24 Karat Gold: Live in Concert by Stevie Nicks. I've been wanting to get this on vinyl for a long time now. It's on Blue and White Splatter Paint vinyl and looks unreal. I have the Blu-Ray DVD, but I had to have the record as I felt there was a gap in my collection

So, I hear you all asking: what's left to collect?

  • Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac (1968)
  • Mr Wonderful
  • Future Games. As soon as I have these 3, the official Fleetwood Mac discography is complete!
  • Buckingham Nicks. This would be the jewel of my collection. It's proving really difficult to find an original copy of this record in the UK in NM condition that isn't ridiculously priced or the seller doesn't seem a bit dodgy
  • Gift of Screws by Lindsey Buckingham. Again, this is seriously expensive. It was released in 2008, when CDs were still the most popular media, so was released as a limited range LP and CD combo
  • Seeds We Sow by Lindsey Buckingham. This was only released in a limited range of red clear vinyl according to Discogs. Very expensive!
  • The Lighthouse by Stevie Nicks. I'm hoping to try and grab a copy of this when it is released soon!

A few side notes...

  • Under The Skin by Lindsey Buckingham was never released on vinyl. However, I will look at getting the CD. However, I don't have my own CD player!
  • 25 Years: The Chain. This was only a CD compilation and has some demos that were never included on their studio albums

I might do another update to my collection if this is received well. Thank you everyone for your help finding odd bits online!

7” or 12” of Rhiannon live?

Does a single of the live version of Rhiannon exist? I had a quick look through discogs and only could find the short studio versions. With it being such an iconic live track I hoped there’d be a pressing, but it doesn’t seem so.

I’d love to own any of the live performances of this song on vinyl. Has anyone maybe come across something like that before?

Identify

So I see this photo all over Pinterest and based on the hair and her outfit I totally thought this was a 2023 solo show but I can’t find any clips or any other photos from this day. I don’t think it’s Fleetwood Mac show but tbh I’m not sure now. Any info on this?

Bob Welch - I'll Dance Alone

Just curious what you guys think of the Bob Welch single "I'll Dance Alone"? I find it rather infectious and catchy:

Silly question (that’s really all I have the appetite for these days) but does anyone know what is up with Lindsey and the incessant gum chewing?

Band friendships?

I’m somewhat new to the fandom and I’ve been wondering about the relationships between the band members. I feel like I only see people talk about Stevie and Lindsey’s relationship but I wanna know about all the lesser talked about dynamics. What’s the relationship between Mick and Lindsey? John and Lindsey? Stevie and John? Etc.

It seems like Lindsey and Christine were good friends. And it also seems like Stevie and Christine were as close as could be. Best friends. And my gay heart would like to believe they were maybe more than friends but that’s beside the point lol.

The guitar/bass at the end of live versions of Go Your Own Way

Hi. So this song has been talked about to death, but I got obsessed with it as a kid and it just never faded lol

Anyone whose listened to the live versions either by the band or performed by Lindsey himself probably know what I'm talking about when I say after the solo, it pretty consistently turns into a bass and guitar breakdown as the song closes out. A great big finish. It's usually the same riff too & I wanna say they started doing it around 1979/80

I've even listened to no-fade version of the studio version & while it breaks down similarly, it's definitely not the same

I just wanted to know if it's ever been discussed how that came to be or if it's been discussed on here before, I don't think I've ever really seen people talk about it but it's a hell of an earworm. Even if the answer is as simple as "Lindsey was hopped up when he came up with it and just kept it".

The Dance version is my favorite and probably a prime example of what I'm waffling on about. Hyper-specific thing to ask about, but I've always wondered. Thanks!

Hypnotized - Mystery to Me, Similar songs

I'm very familiar with the bands discography, but I'm in the search for other songs with that spacey feel to it like hypnotized. Anything in Bob Welchs solo work that resembles it?
