Playing through FE7 first time and I think I’m getting near the end. I have awakening on 3Ds and Three Houses on switch. Which would you recommend next?
I was thinking today about whether or not I wanted to do another Engage play through and what's stopping me is that my recollection of my last play through is that because of the cost of skills like Canter. Most units didn't end up being as customizable as I thought they might be, because skills are expensive and SP is hard to come by.
I have a long history with SRPGs and some of my favorite games were FFT and FFTA where you could at least grind the in-game currency (JP, I think?) to purchase new skills and essentially create custom units with custom skills. Obviously on the far end of the spectrum are SRPGs like Disgaea and other NiS games that prize customization above all else.
This got me thinking about which game in the Fire Emblem series allows you to most easily customize units with skills or unique classes to create a party that's as diverse as possible. I've played all the GBA games, all the 3DS games, I'm currently playing Radiant Dawn after finally playing Path of Radiance, but I'm having trouble remembering some of the games I haven't played for a while and if they allowed more customization than Engage.
I am an avid [RETRO] fire emblem fan but would love to get into the more 'modern' versions.
I wanted to check out ones specifically for the DS, isn't there a 'newer' one where you can make your units date/ have more in depth social interactions?
Suggestions?
Finished my second or third playthrough of FE1 and had an absolute blast. I find it to be the most addicting in the entire franchise. I know it's been called dated but the "pick up and play" nature is very appealing to me. I tend to like arcade games and this is probably the most "arcadey" Fire Emblem gets. There is zero downtime: it's just fight after fight. I know a lot of FE fans won't play it and Nintendo really isn't doing them any favors by pulling the excellent Swicth port, but I just love this game. I also admire the charmingly simple story: liberate your homeland with your ragtag team and then kill the evil dragon.
Not trying to give it any hate but I just went into Engage and am thinking about dropping it in favor of another FE1 playthrough using units I usually bench (Darros, Cord, Bord, etc).
Basically: if FE1 has million fans, I am one of them. If FE1 has one fan, that is me. If FE1 has no fans that means I am dead. If the world is against FE1 then I am against the world.
I love it. It gives so much depth to the story of Genealogy (maybe it's bc I didn't pay attention much during my playthrough or bc it's been a while). I'm still on the latter half of Silessia but I'm loving the worldbuilding.
Ethlyn's a gremlin, which is only hinted at in passing by a voiceline from FEH
Raquesis gets her own story arc and has actual development beyond her obsession (also done dirty by FEH)
Finn's a chad, Sylvia and Erin's triangle is given more depth, Noish Alec and Arden get sceeentime, the political intrigue of FE4 becomes so interesting to look into, Shannan, Azel, Lex
Need I say more
Now the copium comes in: the remake of possibly my favorite game in the series is bound for a switch 2 release sometime next year, and the only reason IS has completely forgotten about the existence of FE4/5 (sans sigurd) is so they can capitalize off of the remake release by waiting on any Jugdral content release in FEH
I'm wondering how many people feel this way and are just kind of bummed about it.
When 3H released, I was at the very least a huge fan of Azure Moon. Loved the class and loved the story. Would get into cringe Edelgard vs Dimitri arguments and everything. But overtime the more I thought about 3H writing overall, the game just soured on me. It was kind of the only thing it had going for me.
And then 3Hopes came out and it felt like it fixed a lot of the problems I had with Houses. But the end of Azure Gleam and the lack of a conclusion left me a little disappointed. Also it's a musou and those hurt my wrists so it's harder to replay.
And now I'm kind of sitting here sort of wanting to mess around with the lions again but also not wanting to really play the games. It's weird. Anyone else feel like this? Maybe with another FE?
Edit: I think i need to clarify. I'm mostly just disillusioned that my opinion on the game has fallen so much since release.
Edit: It's not burnout y'all. I haven't touched Houses since 2021 and only played Hopes on release.
Ok so i finally got engage for my B-day that was like 6 days ago and now I wanted to ask:
after playing some of the games, i thought it would be fun to make concepts for if i made a fe game (except i cant code for life). the photos below are the protags, the lord, and a dancer.
By this I mean someone starting from FE1 and going all the way through the series to FE17 in a single run where the entire thing is one long ironman, meaning you died in Fates or something? Back to FE1 with you.
Obviously you would have to be insane to do this, but I am curious whether someone has managed it (I mean, it could even be a potential charity event or something)
I'm not sure how you would handle Fates. Games could probably be done easiest > hardest or hardest > easiest. I was just going over a couple stats and the thought came to me. Thankfully, as I said, no sane person would ever even consider it, so I'm sure someone will be on it soon enough.
Y’know… like Corrin, but earrings!
I’ve been making earrings as a hobby for a few years now, but decided to branch into some full-body sets now… so I used the Corrine as a test piece!
They’re just about 1 inch tall, but pretty lightweight. Laser-cut acrylic and UV-printed.
Andromeda is a challenging and chaotic hack made by Eretein. It has impressive writing and today's upload is Chapter 6.
Mostly asking this cause the dialogue between Ced & Fee in chapter 8 is always the same, Fee & Ced always mention that their dad walked out on their mom. While this makes sense with Lewyn, it’s left completely unexplained with other fathers.Any of you have any personal headcanons when it comes to their other fathers? (Clauds a really interesting one as this is the only scenario where he survived belhalla I think)
I absolutely LOVE Three Houses, it is up there among my favorite games ever. Three Hopes is really enjoyable as well.
So why in the world can't I get into any other Fire Emblem game. Like seriously.
I own Fates. I have never been able to get very far before growing bored and moving on to something else
I own awakenings. Same as with Fates.
I have recently started my third attempt at a playthrough of Engage. I am in chapter 7 and it's just not clicking.
Why? What is wrong with me?
Hey everyone, I'm trying to grind out the level 120 character achievement in warriors three hopes. How should I go about getting xp? I'm leveling shez who is a savant using a max might dark creators sword and the experience up equip. Do I just need to grind auxiliary battles on maddening for the next 20 years or is there something else i should be doing? (I'm only level 61 right now so i can only beat the last chapters in the game on medium). Any suggestions? Thanks!
I know a few things, like how Louis with Hector or Tiki can tank chapter 1 with someone with Soren's decoy helping. I know Alear wants avoid+X for chapter 5, but idk about other chapters. I know you need certain piercing skills or such for the Chapter 6 boss.
But can anyone help me make up a more complete "grocery list" of the optimal way to beat each chapter on Maddening? I'll be playing the whole game again for this, and I won't enter the Xenologue until near endgame, so any amount of investment, any amount of units is OK. My only goal is to have the best possible unit/skill combos for each chapter.
Among other things, I have no idea what the best skills for Alear are each chapter (5 aside), and since I'm stuck with them, I don't mind optimizing skills for individual maps.
I've read through some "I finally beat the Xenologue" posts, and they usually include partial guides of what they used, but not full ones, so I didn't include all those strategies here because I'm hoping not to stifle discussion of other options, but since I haven't seen a "complete guide to Maddening Xenologue" yet, maybe I'll put one together with help from this thread.
