this game's subreddit is kind of dead here i doubt anyone will comment and help me but i need to try
so every time i launch the game it just crashes or closes i dont know it just shows a black screen for a couple seconds and then crashes. i have looked through some solutions but none has worked thus far
i am using windows 11
can anyone help?
i have tried:
verifying files on steam
moving them on my fastest hard drive
reinstalling the game
deleting some .dll files from a win64 folder in the local files (saw this as a solution somewhere on this subreddit but my local files didnt actually have those .dll files)
Last year there were still a few guys on ladder, now its nearly completely empty. I've been queuing for 1-2 hours/day for the last 4 days. I've gotten 3 matches all complete beginners. There are still new players which is interesting but I feel like its officially dead at this point. Why?
Personally I think its better than aoe4, faster, more asymmetric, ftp. Is the art style to blame? gameplay to blame?
The more is revealed about AoE4, the more troubling it gets: specific gameplay for each civs, pretty similar civ lineup as for EA... Do we know who is behind Empires Apart and are we sure the two games aren't connected?
I guess not, but, just a thought that occurred to me.
Hello there, I was trying Empires Apart, and even if it seems dead I enjoy playing it with some of my friends on steam. However there is this Referral thing that gives each of the two players who exchanged a code an emperor chest, and I'd like to actually use it. Why is the game mega dead suddenly
in teh custom matchess
As Title says, just wondering if this game is still being updated. I saw the last update was March 25 but don't know where to look if the devs are still working on this game. Was thinking about maybe buying a civilization or two but don't want to invest in the game if its been abandoned plus there are obvious problems with the game right now that if left alone would make me not want to put any money into the game. If anyone knows anything please LMK.
i've come to the conclusion that i want to play this game more often then my normal casual games,
for that reason i want to find someone or some people to play with/against on the unranker or ranked multiplayer.

Hi everyone. I really enjoy the game, but when I checked it's player base (according to steam) it has a 60 player average. Is the player base very low? Or is there another platform other than steam. Mostly looking for multiplayer matches. Cheers
3 villagers on food is just enough to sustain constant vill production in your town center early on. Since you start with a nice 200 food buffer, if you want to go fast eco you can send your first 3 vills to wood right away (build a house and a storage) , the next 3 to food, then send all following villagers to wood. I am not sure yet exactly how many vills on wood is the sweet spot, but usually I can click up around 13 pop.
A golden rule in any RTS is to use all of your resources at all times. Any town center you have that is not continuously producing villagers is putting you behind the curve, any military unit you produce that you are not using for defense or offense is wasted resources. If you go military development first and you don't inflict economic damage to your opponent early on, you are putting yourself behind. I have had games where I went basic eco, advanced eco, build 3 town centers, got all economy upgrade, got up to 100 villagers, got basic and advanced military before my opponent who went military first attacked me. By the time his army was threatening me, I was already producing knights from 5 stables at the same time and steam rolled him.
I started playing this game again ever since it started working on LInux via Steamplay and I hecking love it. The variety of strategies and depth of play is great, and the rythm is exactly how I like it. That being said there three quality of life changes that would make me enjoy the game even more :

I’m new to this genre but I absolutely love it. I’ve been avoiding the AOEs because of the graphics and this game drawn me to it.
It’s also extremely fun to play with friends. However, there are really no one other than AIs to play with in unranked. I really hope the devs can create some sort of matchmaking for us casual players.
The game is kinda cool but do we have a date for when the 2v2, 3v3 or maybe 4v4 ranked will be implemented?

I dont understand why founders got promised some things in the future instead of getting Koreans for free.
Huge RTS fan, insta bought the game on it's drop date.
Got very disappointed and never touched it since.
This weekend decided to give it a try after having noticed the fuss on steam that it's going free and that foundators would get some free stuff to balance out.
My impression was more than positive this time.
First off it's free to play but with only one faction, therefore you still need to buy the rest of the clans.
The idea of custom buildings and unit skins is great, however so far it's not that noticeable, maybe with some glowing- effects things could get way candier, (and heavy too, but graphics is too heavy anyways).
As for the gameplay, definitely better, unit collision is way smoother , feels like a completed game now, maybe if they dropped it now instead of 7 months earlier when it was buggy and unfinished, they would've gotten a massive head start.
So all in all great work devs, you've made it trough, a true RTS game that is quite enjoyable. Definitely commended by me for putting that effort to improve your product.
PS :
Dont know why those graphics are so heavy tho, so much lag on big fights and big maps.
To make the game even better and more attractive, implement hero leveling and give those heroes up to 10 levels with some passive/active upgrades. This in my opinion will be a killer
