Met a guy at the Single’s Inferno Mixer‼️Help Please‼️

Hey, I was at the Single Inferno event this Thursday and met an Asian guy who came with his two friends. I was with a friend who was wearing a red coat and had a bob and I was wearing an off-shoulder red top and black pants, and I was super nervous since it was my first time at a club! We talked for a bit, but the music was so loud I could barely hear anything and I didn’t even get his name even though it was like the beginning of the event. Like literally 30 minutes in at like 10:30. I am pretty sure you were wearing like a red jersey with a number but i dont know how much that narrows this down. We got introduced by a friend and you told your friend to come up to me saying you thought I was cute. I thought you were cute too and got really flustered, and I feel bad because I was trying to talk to you but i was just super overwhelmed in the environment. Unfortunately I couldn’t remember much afterwards. I’d love to reconnect if you’re interested—feel free to reach out, even if it’s just to be friends!

Singapore Study Abroad

Hi y'all.

I hope you are doing well. Im a sophomore considering studying abroad my junior spring in Singapore. Im majoring in chemistry and was wondering if anyone had some insight on the science department at NUS and what life is like there. How is the food, school, student/student life, is it possible to get involved in research etc. Thanks for your time.

Emory food options

I wanted to know what other option are available on Emory’s campus outside of the dining hall. Do they have Chick-fil-A or Panda Express like tech? Or like any other chain restaurant I can pay for with dining dollars?

Honor Code Violation HELP

This prof accused me of looking at another persons computer during an exam. And during the final exam, he had TA's sit next to me to watch me. Proceeds to tell me he saw me cheating again reporting me twice to the honor council. I literally saw so many other people looking around but just me. Doesn't everyone look around the room during an exam not to look for answers but to glance at the pace of how ppl r doing n shit?

SAT Test Optional

I’m applying and I was wondering if I should consider adding my SAT or not. I’m not sure it would help. I have a 1410 standard but a 1450 super (720ebrw, 730math). Thanks!

Mentorship and networking for premeds

Hey everyone! Just wanted to share something helpful for pre-med students here. My name’s Bharat, and I’m a third-year medical student in Georgia.

A few med school friends and I have been working on a mentoring and networking project designed to support pre-med students. We know how overwhelming the pre-med journey can be, so this is our way of giving back and making things a little easier.

If that sounds interesting to you, feel free to drop a comment!

Coursicle now syncs assignments from Canvas at Emory

Hey everyone, this is Joe, co-founder of Coursicle. We just launched a new feature that lets you keep track of your assignments on Coursicle, including automatic syncing of assignments from Canvas: https://imgur.com/a/p939bYp

We know not all professors are good about putting their assignments online so we thought it'd be helpful to have a centralized place where you can see all your assignments organized by class and when they're due, including the ones your professors don't post (you can add those manually to Coursicle): https://imgur.com/a/naP3xme

Here's a link to try it out: https://www.coursicle.com/emory/?s=reddit

It's a very new product, so we'd love any feedback you have. We'd like to know what we'd need to change about the task feature that would get you to use it on a daily basis. All Reddit users who give it a try and comment below with feedback will get a free semester of premium. Thank you!

How hard is it to get a 2-bedroom aparment at the CRC?

Title pretty much says it all, but I am a rising 3rd year looking to live with one other person at the CRC in a 2 bedroom apartment. Is this hard to get? Is there any advantage to filling out the housing application earlier or is it randomized for room selection order? And if this is a hard get, then what are some good alternative 2 bedroom apartment options?

Where do MBA students generally live? Is it unreasonable to live west of campus near the beltline?

Is it normal to feel this way?

I don’t know what is suddenly getting me so down but I just feel dispirited. And it sucks because the semester just barely started. I used to participate in class often, now I have to force a Redbull down my throat just to stay awake even if I have 8 hours of sleep every night. I feel dumb and lackluster because of this. Everyone’s actively recruiting, involved, and even though I feel like I try my best, it just never feels enough here.

My classes at the community college felt so much more authentic, inspiring, and engaging.

I felt so much more at peace with myself and the lack of actual direction I had because as much as they say “no path is linear” here, it never truly feels like they mean it. You HAVE to network, you HAVE to do this, pay attention to that, but all while not letting yourself get down by rejections and keeping your grades/GPA up and while your friends keep bragging about the big-name company they’re interning at. The worst part? I know I’m not the only one going through this, I just don’t know why it’s getting me all messed up.

The people were nicer and so much more friendly, everyone was willing to give each other a chance. No stepping on each other’s toes, it felt like an actual community. But here, even with my club commitments, it still never feels like I’m truly a part of them. I don’t even feel like a part of this student body. I feel disconnected, maybe I did make a mistake going here despite how well my first year went. Maybe now the true colors are revealing itself, or maybe I’m just depressed which would suck even more because this is when I need to be most locked-in.

Community college just felt more fulfilling, more whole. It was welcoming, accepting, and still intellectually stimulating. Here, I feel like an imposter that’s always being talked at instead of with. I can’t transfer because it’s too late, and a part of me thinks that maybe it’s just the weather that I feel so hopeless, but another part of me wonders “what if” I had gone elsewhere. I’m already getting rejections after rejections, even though I’ve had plenty of meetings with the career people. I feel like there’s no direction for me at all right now.

IPE ACTS day

For those that had to do this last year, did you have to stay the entire day? Would I be able to leave after my team does their presentations or do they have some kind of check out attendance at the end? Thanks!

BIOL 370 Microbio

I'm taking BIOL 370 Microbiology with Battaglioli. Is this a very hard class to take during my sophomore year? Is Battaglioli’s grading fair, and what is the usual class average? I’ve heard people say this class is very challenging. I want to know if it’s hard because there is a lot of memorization or because it requires a lot of logical thinking.

Transfer Application

Hey guys I’m trying to transfer to Emory and was wondering if someone could help me out. On Emory’s transfer requirements they need my Highschool transcript, but on common app it says no documents required. So I went to purchase my high school transcript and it wants me to send it to a physical address. How do I figure out how to upload it to common app or should I just send it to their admissions address.

Also, does anyone know if there’s a way to waive the fee of Highschool transcripts? Based on my fafsa I’m eligible for application fee waiver and was curious if there was anyway I could get around paying 25$ for each school I wanted to apply to.

When Emory mentions “Withdraw all other applications,” is this even RD?

I have a few RD apps that I’d like to have around if we calculate that Emory isn’t affordable and I might need to pull out of the binding contract. We have received pretty good aid this year, but we plan to meet with a financial advisor because we’re worried about my parents increase in income from taking on an extra job and how that’ll affect how much they pay.

Financial aid

Hello, everyone! I hope you are doing well! I recently got accepted into Emory University. I applied as a part-time student, have any of you went to school part-time and received financial aid? If you applied as full-time, how much aid did you end up getting?

Thank you so much!
