The city is filled with chaos. Adventurers are running around the city like chickens with their heads cut off. Players crying in the streets, talking among-st themselves in a panic; Nobody is sure what to do right now.

Today, every player logged into the MMORPG, Elder Tale, has now lost the ability to log out and are stuck in the game. Nobody knows who would have done this. Some hackers? The GMs? Nobody knows.

The entire player population is in a panic.

An old brick building, which was once an inn to the still attached the tavern MT-Izumi, still looks like the inn it once was. The front door opens to the ground floor, which is undergoing minor renovation to house Mercurius' practice and is still connected via a door to MT-Izumi. The second/middle story contains the dinning/meeting hall and kitchen, as well as a few suites intended for guild officers. The third/top story contains a multitude of rooms, containing three beds each, to be used as the general barracks. Currently, the rooftop lays moistly bare and the door at the top of the stairs squeaks from rusty hinges.

Critical Care's front window holds a hastily made sign label "Critical Care." A flier is posted on the door: "Practice's opening pending renovation. Adventures interesting in joining the guild: walk ins welcome." (Note: Guild has the same name as Mercurius' medical practice that will occupy much of the first floor)

Mercurius

Mercurius sits at the dinning halls table, drinking coffee that tastes like water and eating bagel that tastes like an unseasoned cracker while writing in his notebook. Before him sits a platter of bagels and at the kitchen end of the hall a pot of coffee sits on the warmer. He had spent a long night posting fliers around the city to entice adventures to inquiry. The more the merrier, Mercurius had thought. Even working on minimal sleep, he was ready to move forward and hash out the guild's structure and purpose with his new companions.

The year is 2018. The date is May 3rd. Over 30,000 Japanese players have found themselves trapped in a popular video game by the name of “Elder Tale”. Elder Tale is an MMORPG that is played via PC, which uses Japan's Half GAIA Project, a half-scale model of planet Earth. This day is known among most of the players as the Apocalypse.
However, most players haven’t felt the need to try to find away to leave. Instead, they try to adapt to their new life and just play the game like they always have been. But, is the game the same as they always played it now?

A little bit of clarification on the link flair.

Character Dev is public casual rp that anyone is allowed to post in, or you can specify that it is just a solo post if you wish to go hunting alone for food for cooking. Just put [Solo RP] before your title.

Guild Dev is casual rp specific to the guild you are in. Only people in your guild can post to these posts labeled Guild Dev.

Main Story is only used for story line progression, which is taken care of by the mods. Please do not use this link flair!

Shops is used for players who want to run their own shop. If you are a subclass that can provide something or run a shop, please look at the [super guide] to learn how to set up a shop if you wish to run one.

Filler is used for rp made by the players who just want to goof around for a bit and do silly things that won't affect your character or the story line. Just to have a little fun.

Quest and Raid are used for missions to gain rewards and to do something fun in the game of Elder Tale. These are player ran and can be used by you all, but the content of both has to be approved by the Mods before writing up the post.

Out of Character should be self-explanatory for you all. Players can use it for anything that they wish to talk about like suggestions to the RP system or things along that matter that would relate to Log Horizon or the subreddit. Don't post unrelated, irrelevant things! Save that for the OOC community chat!
