Hi there! I am an absolute beginner and i don't know anything about making digital art. I make doodles and illustrations as a hobby, I would love to take digital art as a hobby.
I have an ipad 9th gen with a stylus which doesn't have pressure sensitivity, and i also have computer but i prefer ipad, so please guide me how I can start making digital art, also please suggest some sources from which I can learn more.
I heard from a youtube video that holding a drawing tablet pen as you would a normal pen or pencil (writer's grip) is apparently bad for drawing on a tablet. Is there a correct way in holding it?
so i use a paper like screen protector for my ipad and obviously it wears down the normal apple pencil tips really fast. i love using fine tips, but the ones ive used scratch the screen protector. does anyone have any recommendations for fine tips that dont scratch the screen protector (specifically paper like)?
My husband uses an iPad and stylus to digitally color hand-drawn art. He has used the basic photo mark up to color. Any easy to use apps that may work better? I don’t mind paying for the right app, but he isn’t inclined to pay to try an app.
I mainly like to design characters and creatures, I've done it since I was very young. I started off on paper and for the majority of my life I'd just use whatever pencil I could find + whatever paper I could find. I never really cared much for learning stuff like shading techniques, colouring, or line weight because I always just cared about the design of the character.
Now I've been doing digital art for about six or seven years and I've never really gotten past the whole pencil-y look, I've tried inking and colouring multiple times but it comes out looking so much more flat, lifeless, and awkward compared to my sketches, when I feel like it's supposed to be the other way around.
I want to eventually be able to turn my art into a job, but as it is now, I couldn't really offer anything outside of "design sketches and literally nothing else", all the tutorials I've tried to follow make it look really easy but I've never been able to make my lines and colouring look like they do. Does anyone have advice for where to start learning how to get nice looking solid lines and some painterly esc colouring and shading?
I own a huion kamvas 20 for about a year now. But recently the pen that comes with will kinda lag a bit. Not really lag but pretty often it will stop as if it's loading and than continue. It has never done this before though and I don't think it is my pc as there isn't anything to indicate it's loading. It's more like it is disconnecting. If you guys know a solution I would appreciate it.
I’m just starting to learn digital art, and I’m following a couple of tutorials on YouTube. The one problem I have with what I’ve seen so far is that they show you what to do, but not WHY.
For instance, I don’t know why the tutorials essentially ignore the tools that allow you to do straight lines, or ovals, or circles, etc. It’s all freehand.

Hi I have some question about the quipments needed for digital arts if can, point me to where I can watch or read for more info on the topic. I am confuse about what kind of tablets that artist use, like the differents between a screenless tablets and a normal tablets, which one is better; what specs I should look out for when buying a tablet, the price range of the between the tablet since I feel like being scam seeing some of them are quit cheap while other are super expensive. If can please link me to some of the equipment you guys are using so I can check on them myself. thank you in advance
Hi I’m not sure where to ask but I’m new to this, does anyone know what app or website I can use to create my own baby announcements? I’m looking to make one from scratch so I’m not trying to go on Etsy and buy a premade template one, I’m trying to create a actual one with my own ideas but I can’t seem to find an app/website to make it look like the digital once they sell on Etsy, any help I would appreciate it, I would post a pic for reference but for some reason it’s not letting me but pretty much it’s those Etsy looking digital announcements
Hello, I recently got a Samsung tablet and need help on finding a good app. I am a complete newbie to digital art. I have seen that Krita is good? I have only tried Sketchbook and Ibis Paint X before. Thank you!
Hello all. I've recently purchased my first drawing tablet to start my artwork. Its a bosto bt 12hd. I know they're not the greatest tablets out there, however it was what's available to me. Ive downloaded Krita onto my computer and when i use the tablet, the pens calibration is good for everything i need to do in order to setup my drawing program. However is goes halfway across the screen when im doing the actual drawing. Is this normal? Like i said, this is my first drawing tablet and it seems kinda weird that the pen works for everything but the drawing itself. Let me know what i can do to fix this issue. Thanks in advance
ive been drawing with pencil and paper for a couple years now and i just got a drawing tablet. im planning on using clip studio and i tried out the tablet and its a lot more different than i was expecting. i knew it was going to be a learning experience but its more than i thought lol. i use the xpen deco 01 v2 if that helps!
