Game Overview
"Darkest Dungeon is a hard-core RPG about the stresses of dungeon crawling. You must manage a team of flawed heroes through the horrors of being 500 feet underground while fighting unimaginable foes, famine, disease, and the encroaching dark. You will have to tend to characters’ spirits as much as you do their Hit Points. But in these grim situations arises the opportunity for true skill and heroism!"

Like seriously. How to you do it? I am on week 10 and didn't have a single dungeon where no one afflicted! I just did a short dungeon. 8 rooms. Had Almost no fights. I get to the first fight. A drummer pig and three worms. My plague doctor fails both of her stuns with blinding gas. Drummer pig subsequently Crit marks my man at arms, which then gets Crit by every single worm in a row. Tf am I supposed to do? After the fight he immediately steps into a trap and afflicts.
Title.
Also, how is the overall difficulty?
As title. It’s something that’s always bugged me, in DD1 you had 4 out of 7 skills equipped, just over half your potential arsenal. Then DD2 upped the total skills to 11 which is awesome but only upped equipped skills to 5 which is less than half your arsenal. It does feel like you can have a solid loadout with 5 yes but it also always feels like you have to leave so much out too. You had less options in DD1 but it also felt like you were leaving less out, to me at least.
But the big thing that brought the notion back to my head was them releasing Abom and the fact that because of the way they did skills in DD2 he actually can’t have all his skills equipped at once like he could in DD1 and it just bugs my OCD or whatever part of my brain gets annoyed at things like that lol. He can still have more skills equipped than anyone else yeah but in DD1 my thought wasn’t “oh he technically can have more skills at once than anyone else, cool,” it was “oh he has access to his whole arsenal in any given battle and doesn’t have to make cuts, cool.”
Everything is in the title.
I understand not being able to see them while checking the map but at least during combat i think it would make sense to be able to see their character sheet
I've recently bought the Inhuman Bondage DLC and installed the free update that includes Kingdoms. I love the new game mode and got 8 days in before I got some weird glitches before the game crashed. Upon restart I was greeted with incredible slow down on everything. The title screen crawls and it takes seconds for my mouse clicks to register. It's made the game unplayable. After some looking into the issue it came to a shock that DD2 was utilizing 100% of my CPU. I've played DD2 since release and haven't encountered any issues like this before. Anyone encountering similar issues?
Edit: I have tried resetting multiple times, have my graphics as low as they can go, I am unable to change the in game resolution, v-sync is off, I have no background applications active, and for some reason sounds happen before the animations do. I swear this game is running one frame a second.
Beat DD1 and decided to play DD2. Currently on my first run ((my abo has a bunch of skills cause I used him on the backstory shrines every time)) and uh the final boss has 1 hp left. Got cosmically unlucky with everything and now everyone else is dead!
I'm using that Idle Thought so he has got like -660% damage. Is there any way at all that I can deal a single damage to this thing. I'm tweaking.
is it really important or can you get away with it?
Title.
Just got kingdoms and trying to find good team to play around / with . Favourite herous are leper (gigachad) and crusader( also giga chad) any tips on team building?
I dont’ know if some of them has been rebalanced for Kingdoms specifically but if it works the same way as in Confessions, I think getting a Shrieker Chick early on would be busted in my opinion, considering how important baubles are for managing fatigue. As for stagecoach items, i’m not sure… maybe Wagon Jack? So I could just treat repair battle like any normal fight and don’t have to worry about wheels and armor ever again? What do you think?
Hiya, been playing through Kingdoms and it's been an absolute blast. Really enjoy how differently it plays from confessions, plus how it gets me to use party compositions that I don't usually use.
I've finally gone through all the quest steps and gone to fight the final boss, only to ultimately lose because it's just too hard imo.
[heavy spoiler territory now, don't read if you want to know how the boss works]
!so the final boss Meat Hook is a 3 size boss and spawns with a 1 size 'meat post'!<
!the meat post every turns generates a few tokens, it loses a token when hit. Meat Hook has a move called 'gouge' that will take 2 of those tokens and apply it to itself. I like this mechanic, it's not unlike The General, you have to juggle attacking the main boss along with a second target in order to deny the main boss from doing more damage!<
!The biggest issue to me is how Meat Hook has the move 'Exhaustion' which is uses after every Rampage move 'Thunderous Fury", and all that exhaustion does is heal it by a whole 24 health. They have several moves that generate rampage points, it can do 3 moves per turn to use said moves. Most of them will generate a rampage point on crit (which it can get guaranteed from the meat post) and even when they miss, they still generate a rampage point, so you can avoid the direct damage but regardless, it progresses to using the Thunderous Rampage which will shuffle your party and deal stress damage, and then use exhaustion to heal itself back up!<
!like in a single round, if it can crit once, miss once (either with a blind or a dodge) and then use gouge, it has the 3 rampage tokens. Which means next round it'll deal damage, stress & shuffle that you need to recover from, then heal itself up.!<
!It feels just too damn hard because you need to manage the meat post, keeping your team in it's own position, and actually hurt the boss. Thing is the boss can also get superblock and superdodge, so even if you get say a Leper to constantly crit 30 with all the set up needed, that would get denied by the block and dodge, not to mention the 24 healing that goes like every other turn!<
!It also has 60 stun resist and 40 debuff resist, so the usual weak, blind or stun that would work on the other beastmen enemies work far less often here!<
!I believe that my team was pretty well set up, PD, HM, BH and Crusader. good ways to deal damage to both the meat post and the boss, Crusader was Templar so great healing and tank support. Yet I ultimately lost because no matter what I did, the boss just kept popping that 24 heal exhaustion.!<
!By the end of the battle I had only done 40 damage from its 240 health pool because of it's constant healing. I'm not sure if there's a better winning strategy, there's just too much to manage and far too little wiggle room when it uses exhaustion nearly every other turn to heal back to full.!<
!The only way I think it could be made easier is if that exhaustion actually applied a debuff to itself, like the name would imply, or if maybe the superdodge & block were made into regular ones?!<
I will admit that I have this on Escalation 3 which made it harder but doubt I would have done much better even on Escalation 2.
What are your thoughts?
!edit: so I wrote this in the middle of the fight as I felt hopeless, I kept fighting and I got it down to 125 health after a whole 24 rounds. If that offers insight into just how hard it is!<
I was going through the Foetor and I realized that it’s probably my favorite region aesthetically but also the one I find the most unsettling. What’s yours?
Hello, i played the game like 2 months ago and left it on Act 4 (with the intention of coming back when the update dropped) so, it's okay to try the new mode even though i don't have everything unlocked? Will that make me get my ass handed to me? I don't really know how the new mode works, neither if it introduces mechanics that are seen on Act 4 or 5, so i want to know if i get to have a fair first impression
My Flagellant
When I tried to select the option, it locked me into an endless loading screen. What does it mean?
I haven't been able to use the character because I play on Xbox, but he's my favorite character from the first Darkest Dungeon game, so how good is that character or how bad is? :).
Just had my flaggy die in the first siege of my run, he had to defend solo and the inn minimum six days from my starting location and the siege happened on Day 5. Am I missing something? Is there fast travel open without having to visit inns first or something? Some way to upgrade without the wagon?
Feels like I got screwed.
