I was bored so I decided to make a tierlist of the DDII characters ordered by canon power, based on skills + backstory

It took me around 10 minutes to make, so it might be completely wrong, but oh well. Feel free to discuss whatever you think is wrong

I just got DD1 and it’s great so far. However, my game basically stops functioning whenever I switch to the crystalline vendor from the CoM DLC. I’m playing on the steam version without any mods.

Any fix or should I just disable CoM? Thanks.

I just bought the crimson court dlc but I can't play the area or have gotten flagellant.

Before, I spent hundreds of hours with the game, but when you reached at a certain age (like 30s), you tend to be more tired, your time is less, as a result you only have the strength to play short games/short plays (like DD2)

Hi, im pretty new to the game. I watched a couple of beginner tip videos in YouTube but just wanted some help with a couple of questions.

What are the main differences between the different areas I can go explore? How can I know what items to bring on expeditions?

I saw I shouldn't worry about clearing most of the negative quirks. What about diseases though? Is it worth cleansing those for a lvl1 or lvl2 hero?

How does scouting work? Is it just random with help from stats?

How many heroes should I focus on leveling up? 4? 6? 8? 12?

I know its a ton of questions but if everyone answers at least 1 I think I'll be good to go.

Small story telling. Nothing to big nor incredible, but I wanted to share it.

I completed DD1 years ago, and really enjoyed the experience. At first a bit concerned by the lukewarm review of DD2, i finally decided to bought it a month ago. I don't regret it, the game has its flaws but it's a nice change of settings that brings a new game experience, and there is some really good ideas (shrine of reflection for example).

Im getting at the same part of my experience with DD1 where the bond between me and the game turn into a love/hate relationship.

Your typical darkest dungeon experience : I run blindly for the first time on 2nd boss of confession with a miraculously quite adequat team (hellion, graverobber, flag, vestal), nearly killed the boss on 1st try (my last hero and him were neck to neck on death's door ahah). Then it was downhill : succession of bad choices, bad rng, etc.

After a few tries (some of them made it to the mountain whitout success), terrible tedious run when you know you can make it but still everything is more or less fallin apart (took the sluice to grind some blue points, and got my loathing level to 4), everyone maxi stressed, can't succeed to have good relations entering the sprawl before the mountain. And then, it happened.

We are at the oasis. Nearly each member of my team is btching on eachother :" blabla we dont have time to lose " "blabla jennyfer won't share her shampoo with me" and at the very epicenter of this, my jester, no beef with anyone, who says : "we'll be facing death smelling soap!" (or something like that, this is what he's saying in french). The irony and the absurd of this situation really made me laugh like a madman and a realize it was very meta to have this reaction considering the game. From this moment, f* we ball energy, and made it to the moutain. lost to the boss tho. But it's okay, I got it last night (team with DOT indeed was a good idea).

Have you ever had some of these out-of-nowhere funny or raging moments (I know DD can produce them profusely) that put you in the same state of misery, fatalism, lost of sanity like the heroes of the game ?

Hi,soo,I just brought the game on the last sale,then I ran it and it worked,then I went to download some mods,it worked as well,but then,some days after I tryed to play the game again and it simply stopped working,I click to run on the steam page,it says the game is starting,but then simply stopps and gives me the option to run again,I've tryed unstalling all mods,and then unstaling the game and installing again,and it still doesn't boot,please help.

I've been obssessed with defeating the hag since she defeated 2 of my top parties in a row. She kept using her self heal and criting every turn and it absolutely broke me.

My other issues as well is GETTING to her. I need to be extremely lucky to not run into that monster who can disable heals and has an absolutely high amount of dodge (kept missing my mark on both hm and occ). I admit I'm mostly playing blind in champion since I'm realizing that i can't just force my way through anymore. I like the challenge and the fact that team comps are more significant.

Ive read on this subreddit some team combo that should and i quote: "This can beat any boss/dungeon/excellent vs the hag/etc..". but most of them just DIED in that stupid map. I have no isses in the cove, ruins or warrens. It's really just in the weild that I struggle hard. I'm aware it's a skill issue but I don't exactly know how to fix it.

So far ive tried for the hag:
msk/occ/hm/hellion: hag kidnapped msk REPETEADLY and I spent more time switching position with hel so she could use iron swan.

Vestal/hwm/hm/hellion: started super well but hwm got too stressed and decided to kill my vestal before she could heal him from death door. Hel got kidnapped which made hm stressed out and became SELFISH.

GR//occ/bounty/hellion : extremely easy time to get to the hag, got lucky with crits and no stress. Got to the hag and occ kidnapped first, hellion started well and brought breakthrough in case she finds herself in 2nd position. Party started MISSING CONSTANTLY even though i had no debuff and the hag was marked. She then kept crit heal and in the end most died of blight.

I know I'm doing something wrong and maybe there is a tactic I'm missing but no matter what I try the bitch just heals herself with her 2 turns 90% of the time. I'd like to know if you have any general tips for the weald and on how to beat the hag correctly.

EDIT: I finally managed to kill her in 3 rounds, i feel.so stupid now that i see how easy it was with a proper team placement.

I had: arb/hm/occ/hel Only used bleeding skills and the occ kept the mark up. Used a dog cookie and wham she was gone. Fought a virago as well and as soon as i focused on it it went down fast. I still believe rng played a huge part but for now i'm done with that place!! Had NO idea how powerful the occ stun was lol total game changer

I also put the hm guard on whoever was marked and the dodge is insane! My hellion couldn't get hit so she was happy to hack away. Thank you for the tips!

Adventurers log (approximately 2hours into my first playthrough): The seekers were sent out for a short investigation of some ruins. Eager to prove themselves they did not consider the need for a healer and set off having bought out the entire store due to a going out of business sale. Varying accounts, by those present, have been provided as to if they made it to the first door before they'd utilised all of their food to make up for their lack of healing. Soon after, an omnipotent force correctly identified each member of the group: the masochist, the depressed, the sadist and the jester.

Shop items were thrown at every would be treasure, trap and junk pile the adventurers came across until they limped their way through the final hallway before their goal. Stumbling up to yet another object of interest the adventurers were asked to place a torch if they craved the void. Without an occultist to warn them, mistakes were made and suddenly an eldrich beast appeared before them.

After running screaming from the beast our adventurers remain in a state of shock and will be spending some time drinking the horror from their mind.

I just downloaded the original Darkest Dungeon on steam.

... are their any good tutorial or strategy videos that you would care to recommend?

I came back from a long break from the game so my knowledge isn't the best especially with the new characters, I also wanted to use Grave Robber because she got a rework

However, I can't get the team comp to work, or rather find a way to make it work, especially since I don't know the three mentioned characters too well

How would y'all build a comp with them?

I've tried a lot of different stuff and watched videos on it too. I swear I'm not crazy. After doing it the orthodox, unorthodox and every other method I could bash my head against, the teacher always dismisses the class immediately after I rebuttal. I can't help but think they reworked the chapter or my game's bugged? Please help me out.

If anybody had a link to any talks the head designers have given about how they made the game that would also be useful.

Hello, someone who just lost 3 characters on 2nd darkest dungeon here. I was running vestal>HM>MaA>Leper.

I don't know if I was extraordinarily unlucky or this is how it's supposed to be but every 2nd attack was a crit. I did 7 fights. This wore down my HP and stress WAY faster than I could manage. MaA and Leper got afflicted and many turns were spent healing away from DD. I was going for stuns whenever I could, but one never landed. Eventually, the constant crits were too much and my vestal died, soon following my MaA and HM.

What the fuck am I supposed to do? None of these guys had extra stress quirks, minus dodge quirks, or minus virtue quirks. Am I unlucky or do I just need better stress management? I don't know how to stress manage constant crits, it's literally every second hit.

Someone posted a side by side of Jon Bernthal and Dismas which got me thinking about a Darkest Dungeon Series by Mike Flanagan and if it would do well. Something where the series finale is set up like Haunting in Hill House? Imagine having Wayne June as The Narrator for the series, maybe even a cameo? Thoughts?

how does speed work exactly?

I’m going to begin darkest dungeon one and have no idea what to expect of this game my mates recommend it to me all the time so I said alright I’ll give it a shot got any helpful tips ?

So, I bought DD 1 a couple days ago and started a save with all the DLC. That went up really bad bc I couldn't finish a single mission besides the tutorial one. Then I started a second playthrough without the Crimson Court DLC because I was told its very hard. And in a way that I don't know how to explain, the game just felt "easier" and managed to kill the first boss.

That being said, I don't really know what things this DLC adds, and I'm curious to learn the things that make the game harder.

I brought two lvl 3s (highway man and plague doctor) along with 2 lvl 0-1 front liners (don’t white remember their classes and level but know it was lower than the recommended level for the veteran quest). I got absolutely fucked in like the first fight, enemy Crit 3 times in a row and my low level front line got decimated. I retreated from that and since the level difference I used was like 2-3 different from recommended and chalked that off to yeah I just had bad odds bad decision making and bad luck. I won’t make that mistake again.

Then I went on another quest with like 2 lvl 3s and 2 lvl 2s all of them with really good quirks and like 2 of them had 1 negative quirk but it was like God fearing so it doesn’t matter in the dungeons. I had around 3 positive dungeon applicable quirks on average in this party and decent trinkets. I prepared according to a guide that I usually follow(only around 50 hours into the game but I acknowledge I rely on guides quite often). However, I camped and almost completely got rid of stress and used a skill to keep away night time attacks but got the shield breaker memory trigger. I dealt with this on my very first save and it was the first time with only 3 snakes so I thought I would be ok as I had good healing frontline and the shield breaker actually is really good in that fight besides getting stressed the fuck out. I completed the fight but had used all bandages I brought in previous fights and succumbed to a lot of bleed on both front and back line. My shield breaker also got an affliction from that with most of my other guys also at like 30-40 stress each with no more camps. I continued a bit more but eventually had to give up the quest as even a double healing trinket abbess couldn’t keep up with the amount of damage my entire party took. Also stress was stacking really high. My question is basically can you use heroes below the lvl of the recommended with still decent/reasonable odds to win or is it almost impossible (darkest difficulty).
