Game Overview
"Darkest Dungeon is a hard-core RPG about the stresses of dungeon crawling. You must manage a team of flawed heroes through the horrors of being 500 feet underground while fighting unimaginable foes, famine, disease, and the encroaching dark. You will have to tend to characters’ spirits as much as you do their Hit Points. But in these grim situations arises the opportunity for true skill and heroism!"

This just happened on my first run ever. Flagellant and Man-at-arms on the final boss on the denial path. Lion key was the only key left and always went first at the start of the round and used its debuff to stop me from attacking, so all I could do was heal. Because man-at-arms handled stress and flagellant handled health it was an infinite where no matter how long I stalled, the lock always went first every round and always stopped me from attacking and there was nothing I could do but heal till next round where the same thing happened. I killed flagellant to try and break the cycle, but I got trapped in ANOTHER infinite. The same thing happened on an even worse scale, this time there is no action I can do but skip, because my buffs require other team members and my attacks are restricted, I can't move because man-at-arms is the only character. Because of a trinket or something I always heal at the end of the round. The lock gets two turns per round, and always goes first, one to debuff and the next to attack. Do you see the problem? I get debuffed, I get hit, I go to deaths door, I skip and get healed out of deaths door, then the process repeats, and occasionally I have a meltdown but that doesn't change anything. Two infinites in a row where I can't do shit, leading me to manually end the run. Darkest dungeon 2, fuck you.
I’ve started doing the veteran dungeons and the jump in difficulty Hasnt been too bad but I’ve heard that the jump to champion dungeons is really bad, how bad is it really?
have been playing black reliquary for 48 hours now, and have been loving the expirience, but the difficulty gap betwen veteran and champion is bizarre. hevery time i go in a veteran difficulty mission, it's hard, but nothing mindboglyn, but EVERY SINLGE TIME i went in a champion mission with my level 5 fully upgraded heros, i got abused by the enemies, losing at least 1 hero in the second or 3 fight, without any type of counter play. For exempl, like my mosquetier being crited by a crit 70 of a wild lander axe and a corvid wildlander outspead my entire squad and killed her turn 2( she was full health by the way, 68 max hp)
just perplex how the game took a 180 and went from a enjoiable but extremaly challenging expirience to a boring getting whiped with no counter play simulator
any tips to make the champion levels less frustating and unfair?
( obs: sorry the bad english, not my best languege lol)
I was just thinking again about how the direction red hook went with DD2 made it stand out less in the roguelike genre, and idk how I didnt make this connection before.
Bloodmoon forces you to plan which heroes you are taking to which darkest dungeon mission ahead of time. Losing a pokemon that might be ur only answer to a later fight is more punishing than losing a hero because u can only have one of each mon, but stagecoach RNG can be extremely unkind (my only jester died and I'm at week 80 now :))). DD2 is like planning for just one gym where the gym leader is the confession boss.
I like delaying boss missions in DD1 until a broken ass trinket like blasphemous vial shows up, much like delaying an encounter to increase my odds of getting a specific pokemon.
I also like that we exploit enemy AI by >!using anti to bait the siren's song because we know she likes to target heroes with low debuff resist!<, which is the most important skill in completing a nuzlocke.
I think it’s so funny when I get coward in duelist. I literally do meditation first, fleché+ second and then just wait for it to proc, leaving her in offensive stance for a stronger fleché next turn.
The role play in this one is just crazy too because imagine a random woman who calls herself your institutrice doing an attack, freak out when she realizes she’s in front and then rinse and repeat 😂❤️🔥 love this game
Still didn't played DDII, but know about Crusader DLC. Can anyone tell me this is the crusader from DD1 or just another guy? Just want starting DD1 and wondering wich ending for Raynaud is canon.
I got a asset failed message and I need help deciphering it.

If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it
So I know this game is frustrating. I know I'm only at the start, and there is more of this to come. But FUCK ambushes.
I finally had a good party, everyone had their roles. I decided to jump onto the first major quest to kill the necromancer and it was going great.
I had one room left that was almost certainly the Necromancer. I was in ok shape, but worried about tackling a boss I decided to rest. I've rested countless times and never been ambushed, yet the game decides at this point, right before my first boss, to put me through an ambush.
Fair enough. I can do this, everyone's relatively ok. They surprise me and my two backliners are now at the front, every enemy attacks first with aoe abilities scoring not one but TWO FUCKING CRITS on my Vestal putting her in DD. The next attack deleted her. A character I'd been building for the last few days. My others barely got out after having to shuffle about and get into an ok formation, but there was no chance now of finishing the quest. Had to pack up and go home.
Everyone comes back max stress and everyone got a red ability (dunno what they are called) and my highway man also brought back a disease from getting fucked so hard.
Just kinda defeated and it's killed my motivation. I have other characters I've been building but damn this just really took the wind out of my sails.
Feel free to give me any tips or whatever because I sure as shit need them.
Edit: what a community. Thought I'd get destroyed in the comments but instead it's been incredible advice and encouragement. Appreciate you all 💚
So I’m only on week 4 of my first playthrough, and I just encountered the Shambler’s Altar. My party is Crusader, Highwayman, Abomination, & Vestal. All just hit level 2 besides Abomination 1 run behind. I’m full health but Vestal and Abomination at 45 stress. I can camp though, although I’d lose Crusader’s 30% DMG until camp.
I’m currently torn. Id probably definitely do it if I didn’t have those two stressed plus my Highwaymen just got Tetanus (-5 ACC, -5% CRT) in addition to equipping Dodgy Sheath which is further reducing my ranged accuracy, since Grapeshot seems like it’d be so good but I won’t hit it reliably enough. Mainly focused on melee with him, since Sheath.
I’d be devastated if I lost any of these 4 lol. I’m expecting them to be my main team and I’m already attached.
Why Vestal, why you died like in 1 hit after being innthe deaths door
WHY THIS GAME IS SOO UNFAIR, I HATE IT, WHY I WAS CONFIDENT, I HATE MYSELF, I HATE YOU, I HATE EVERYONE
(My stress level is 153 and I'm irrational)
I'm replaying DD1 and I've always had the most problems with the Warrens; Ruins are the Ruins, Weald ain't shit and the Cove is tricky, but manageable. The Warrens just fucking vexes me though, I never know how to handle it; prot, blight and bleed, massive damage and stuns (Ball and Chain is a goddamn hack), plus the most diseased area. What teams/heroes work well there, how do you go about handling it all?
My best guess is rank 3 PD with stuns, Incision and the cure, as well as a bunch of disease cures, but that's about it.
I saw that Darkest Dungeon 1 was on sale on steam and I watched a little bit of gameplay and it looked interesting. I generally enjoy roguelikes and deck builder games like 'Slay the Spire' and I was wondering if it's worth picking up if I enjoyed those games.
Any advice is appreciated!
I don’t want to do it if it locks then from going to the dungeon this week.
never fought this guy but looks like hes from color of madness (just got the DLC) and despite the warnings, I went to the weald knowing he could appear. now that he has, what do I do? run or fight?
all are lv2 except lv1 PD, lv3 and lv2 armor & weps on HWM and Crusader. all have lv2 skills
thanks :)
PS love the effect of the crystals extending and retracting randomly, very cool to watch!
I drew this on a magma with a friend, the flagellant just, looked like this in the inn
Totally new, played about 7 missions or so but something that ive been wondering about:
Whats the purpose of early game? Everyone told me that my characters are expendable so upgrading them seems useless, upgrading building means upgrading characters.
Im prolly missing something but would love some advice.
Hey guys,
I've tried to use Jester using the finale loop (virtuoso path) but I couldn't find a good team to use him in with this strategy in mind. Any suggestions on team comps for this?
The increase in difficulty is just too much . I don't even know what I am doing wrong but my heroes don't do much damage or enemies just dodge their attack
I don't understand how the game expects me to get through a level 5 dungeon and beat the boss and the bad RNG has resulted in me losing many high level heroes
Any tips would help a lot .
