Pretend you are a top notch experienced international DJ that was making millions from DJing. All your equipment got stolen. You want to buy new DJ equipment. Preferably Pioneer. The best available at the current time. You only need a 4 channel mixer and 2 dj players for now (not vinyl). Also you will need a laptop (any brand & model that supports windows preferably unless you suggest Mac for a good reason). And a set of head phones and some good speakers for home use (these can be any brand but prefer to keep them Pioneer if possible. Especially if they are made for a piece of equipment (ex. the HDJ-F10 headphones that are made to integrate with the XDJ-AZ if that’s what you recommend).
So would you buy a stand alone all in one DJ system and if so, which one? Why?
Or would you buy 2 DJ players (like CDJs or XDJs) and a mixer and if so which ones? And why?
What laptop would you get? You want a laptop to use solely for this (DJing/music). So only what’s necessary yet the best. Why?
Which Headphones? And why?
And last, which speakers for home use? And why?
You want the ultimate top of the line set up. You want to keep this for life preferably. Money is not an issue here as you have unlimited funds. Go to the extreme with your choices.
Hi everyone,
I've had my rokits for about 5-6 years and either theyre getting a bit old (and the sound quality has deteriorated) or im just getting tired of the limitations of the sound/bass and i've been exposed to better speakers since picking them up.
Either way, can anyone recommend a pair of speakers for DJing at home? Something between the 800-1200 USD bracket. I DJ a lot of different genres, but all dance music (UKG, bass, dnb, breaks, 140, house, techno etc)
Cheers in advance
Hi all - Need some help. I am helping a Youth Football Team with Music at their Home Games.
The stadium is fairly new with some updated equipment. The Stadium has Speakers throughout the stadium. There is a wireless Microphone and a Bluetooth Connection for me to connect my Macbook with Music (iTunes) to it. I use the volume button on the laptop to fade in/out music. All Good from here.
I'm not doing anything fancy here. I play 30 second snipits of songs during the play of games. Play songs when the Home Team Scores and play songs during intermission.
Here's where I need help -
I'd love the ability to fade in/out music using a mixer that is connected to my Macbook. I have had times where I faded down a song and forgot to hit stop on the laptop and the music was still playing.
It would be awsome if this mixer could cue up songs instantally. Like for instance if they scored, I don't need to find it on the laptop each time.
If it could connect to the existing system via Bluetooth would be great. But the existing equipment does have a RCA Jack I could use too.
Thats's really all I think I need. Any input would be great.
Thanks in Advance!
How U doing ? My cartridge isn't suited for the scratching life. I plan to buy another set. Would a cartridge thats adapted be beyond compare sound-wise ? I kinda already have the answer but I'd like to hear it from someone else to quench my thirst (AND BECAUSE I'M POOR). A cartridge-experienced user's reply would be much appreciated. 2nd one: Is there a solid table out there who screams "I just want to scratch !" ? Peace.
I am using the Hollyland Lark Max with a speaker for Wedding Ceremonies. I seem to be having issues where I get an echo/reverb sound. I have tried to adjust gain/volume but no luck. Would hooking up an external Clip On Lavalier Microphone be helpful at all for this issue? Could it be a setting, a wire, etc?
Hi - I want to purchase a DJ console that plays from a USB (not a laptop as I don't like that experience) but I also want the mixer to have input for a couple of turntables.
Any suggestions? (I know the PioneerXDJ range have this functionality but they are expensive : ( .
I think the Denon Prime Go and Numark Mistream Pro Go are USB players but they don't seem to have an input for turntables. There is a Gemini SDJ 4000, but I was told to stay away from that brand.
Any thoughts appreciated. (If Pioneer is the only option, please let me know which model you can recommend)
Thanks .
I've begun dj-ing at the begining of the summer. I'm already two gigs in and loving it so i'm looking to get a standalone pretty soon. I have two choices and I wondered if you people in hear could help me choose between the two. I mix mostly Trance/Eurotrance and House for the moment but i'm not closed to trying new genres.
First one is a used but good condition Denon MCX8000 that I could get from Facebook Marketplace at 1000$ (CAN) and comes with a case to transport it.
Second is a new Numark Mixstream Pro+ that I could get for around 950$ (CAN). (I've also though about getting the Numark Mixstream Pro GO version which runs with a battery and goes for 1100$)
I've been mostly playing on my friend's Mixstream Pro so I guess i'd be more used to the Numark. It's also the one they recommend for begining djs looking to upgrade and play live. The speakers are a big plus for me and the though of getting the battery one is appealing to me. Thing is, it doesn't have as much functionalities as the Denon and I'm wondering if have more of them would be practical if I want to up my skill level a bit in the future (and also doesn't come with a case !).
The Denon, on the other hand, has a lot of things to it, but is pretty old and I've seen lots of bug discussions about it online, on top of people saying it's at "the end of it's life". It also has split screens which I'm not used to having mixed mostly with my friends Mixstream.
Tell me which one you think is better !
I assume something to help disassemble it or maybe for the disc drive? I don't think 3000's come with it.
I have one mixer DJM250-K, and recently bought a big active speaker. I would like to use the 2 XLR balanced outputs from the mixer (R + L) but the speaker has only 1 XLR input. I know only one speaker will be mono, but I’m afraid if I only connect one side (L or R) could make me miss some elements of the songs.
How can I connect both outputs into one single input? I thought about using one Y cable, but some posts here on Reddit say you shouldn’t do that.
Thank youuuuu
so i’m currently on a flx 4 and i love it but i wanna upgrade to something a little bigger i was looking at the xdj-xz but i would like some other options from you guys. I would also like to try and start using 4 channels!
Hi guys, I play vinyl only and i only need a good eq, two channels and a crossfader. i've seen the behringer DX626 with a bpm counter, but I'm a little sceptical if that really works. Do you have recommendations for a simple fader style two (or 3) channel mixer? I've been looking in the sub but the reco's i'm finding are all +2 years old so I'm daring to ask the question again :)
Many thanks!
Are these essentially the same or is one better? Thanks.
Trying to ID a DJ mixer based on a vague discription and key feature.
Circa 2003/2004 I DJ'd a fair bit and when my PPD died I treated myself to a 'nicer' mixer. It was some avant-garde club style mixer I found on ebay with a key standout feature - two large lit red retro style LED panels in the top left of the unit that would display the bass waveform of each channel - the idea being you could 'visually' check the audio sync. As an early DAW/MIDI enthusiast this idea appealed to me. Other details, I remember the mixer had a very horizontal layout perhaps ideal for rackmounting (19 inch?) .. It was dark grey or black in color with a white logo - possibly four letters. A very uncommon brand, perhaps British in origin.
I got to enjoy my dream machine for a day or two before the whole studio was stolen in a break-in! It was traumatic enough that I didn't touch the stuff for years. I have since rebuilt my studio and the time has come to pick up a DJ mixer for my old decks again -- I thought I would see if my old dream machine was still around and how they held up all these years but despite racking my brains and an evening of googling I cannot ID the hardware.
Any knowledgable mixer hounds able to help me recall what this cool little box was?
Hi everyone! I am travelling to South America during the holidays, and my boyfriend, who is currently living there, had to leave his DJ controller in Canada. He might have to stay in South America for a while, and mentioned to me that he misses using his controller, but he wouldn’t have space for his keyboard, and his other devices while travelling. Anyways, I was thinking to offer him for Christmas a compact DJ controller. Something that isn’t too expensive (under 500$) and that he could carry when travelling. His current controller is a pioneer serato. In Brazil he has a small keyboard and a Roland mc-707. I want to make sure to get something he likes, but I also want to surprise him! Thanks for your advice!
Few days ago I have been going to my first dj gig and it was all awesome till 1 day later when I saw crazy stains and dirt on my new laptop and my ddj flx 4 controller.. It came from bubbles soap machines that one of my friends used in the party.. I tried to clean the dirt and almost all the dirt gone but the keyboard on my laptop and the bottons of my dj controller are sticky and I hate it.. what can I do? I tried to clean it with microphiber wipe and and even 70% alcohol with the microfiber wipe and it didn't solve the problem.. still sticky. I'm really really angry about my friend that didn't even ask me if he can use these soap bubbles machines during the party but that's too late.. Any ideas how I can remove the stickiness from my keyboard on my laptop and from the controls from my dj controller?
I've been a DJ for 10 years and have worked with Pioneer most of the time. But I am fed up (or as a German speaker would say: "ich könnte schon wieder im Strahl kotzen")
Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware of the benefits of Pionner and I enjoy turning up to a gig with nothing more than a USB stick in my hand. Regardless of whether the location provides 2000 nexus, 1000 2000 nexus2, 3000 or similar, I never have to adjust to new equipment. But that's where the advantages end.
In the past few weeks I have reorganised my entire library and exported it to new sticks. I was looking forward to playing with them this weekend. But no... Pioneer still hasn't managed to get their players to read exFAT USBs. How can it be that the Pioneer DJ XDJ-1000MK2, which still sells for 1.5k in 2024, can still only read 32 GB USBs? If I tell anyone that a club invests 3k in Euquipment, which can't work with a USB format that has been standard since 2006 (Windows XP), the person must think I'm shitting him. And I don't want to hear, "just take 2 USB sticks with 32 GB" or "the new 3000 can exfat". It's about the principle that Pioneer dj has only been doing uninnovative customer fooling for years.
I'm so fed up with Pioneer and the worst thing is, I think there is still no reasonable alternative for the club Standard. Denon DJ must finally release a more reliable and stable version of their players.
It was working fine recently. Is there a way to clean the fader somehow or is it just broken?
Got this set ip on windows 11 and it started doing this, I downgraded to windows 10 because from what I see that’s the last operating system it was compatible with. Still doing the same shit, I have switched out usb cables, plugged in different ports, updated drivers and all. Any idea what this is or if it’s the hardware and I gotta open it up?
I spilled coffee a little while back on my old MBP and have to get a new one and I'm trying to figure out which one I should get.
Right now I'm torn between getting the 2022 M2 Air with 8GB Memory and 256 SSD or a 2020 MBP with 16GB Ram and 512 SSD (renewed). The MBP has an 2.0 i5 and the 2022 Air has the m2 chip. Both are 13" models.
I do have an external hard drive that I would end up using/storing all of my music on but I mostly do Weddings, Corporate events and trying to get back into Club/Bar scene.
I do live in the midwest and occasionally have events where I'm outside, not in the rain itself but it gets hot and humid during summer events. It's about $300 difference in the cost so I'm trying to see if anyone else has had a similar situation and what they thought/did.
I mostly use Serato and don't do MP4/Video DJing. But will end up having multiple apps/windows open when doing Weddings.
Thanks in advance!
Hi guys so i recently got gifted an old Numark Omnicontrol controller and I know that you need old software to run it. So at the moment I don't know what to do to get it to work. Does anyone know how i can get it to work it would be awesome. Thanks in advance.
I'm looking for a high end audio interface to use for DJing. High end, such as Motu, RME, and etc.
I do want the option of having phono inputs, in case I do happen to use turntables. I don't want to use a phono preamp, but if that's the only option, I'll accept the additional module.
Any idea what I could use?
Hi! I want to upgrade from my ddj-flx6 I have ± €1500 to spend. I like to have club standard layout, so Pioneers or the Denon SC live 4 are high on my list I'm also not sure if I want a controller again, or something standalone
My options are:
Thanks!
I’ve just started using the S11 and CRSS12s - absolutely loving the setup so far, but can’t figure out how to view track remaining time on either the decks or the mixer.
This was a feature I found really handy in the various controllers I’ve used, and it would be great to see how much time you have left in a track on the hardware rather than having to check on the laptop.
Appreciate you can see where you are on the waveform, but I’d prefer a minutes/seconds left display somewhere.
Might be that it’s not possible (I guess the use case is more geared to turntablism, but I plan to use the setup for mobile gigs too).
Video shows example of the editor, and the library gives song recommendations as you go to highlight the songs that match key / tempo best.
