Im looking for an equalizer or mixer that does this, all I can find it seems are vintage. I want a simple thing to plug into my computer and change the sound output. Stereo equalizer, or regular like we see in music programs. Im open to the idea of using a mixer combo, or that alone, see I dont know if they even do that kind of thing. Must be analog, no matter if I can digitally assign to a knob or something, as long as its 31/32-16k
I want responsiveness to the changes I make, so I can feel it better, and play with it.
thanks-
Yoo, i want to upgrade because for 5 years I was playing with some old ass hercules controller, that is like ddj-200. I don't know what to get cause i want to gig with my friends or play on familly event's and I have my eyes on three options. I mostly play uk garage, bassline everyday but for familly event's i need to play house and disco. I'm too young to have normal job but I'm working when i have free time in my dad's workshop so I'm tight on money.
Option 1. Pioneer DDJ-1000 or DDJ-800
This controllers are nearly perfect for what i need. I looked on flx10 but i don't need stems and don't like how it looks with all this colorfull buttons.
Pros:
Cons:
it needs a laptop, but laptop is not that deep and if I needed to train for cdj's i can turn off waveforms
i need to buy laptop
Option 2. Pioneer XDJ-RX2
It's nearly like DDJ-800 but standalone.
Pros:
Cons:
little screen for BOTH channels that i hate
less effects, smaller jogs without jog adjust which i would like to have
Option 3. Pioneer FLX4
F all this and go with this
Pros:
Cons:
no XLR so i need to buy audio interface
lacks many features from controllers i mentioned
Where i live DDJ-800 is 1000$, DDJ-1000 is 1250$, RX2 is 1500$ and FLX4 is 350$. And i can get macbook under 300$ easily. Maybe I writed it too chaotic but I don't know for what I want to save money. you can propose me any other gear AND sorry for my bad english.
Not sure this even exists, but I ruined my life by upgrading my equipment and it's all about the stupid audio chain. It's all about that Alan Parson's quote: “Audiophiles don't use their equipment to listen to music. Audiophiles use your music to listen to their equipment”.
LOL
So I want to get a pro-ject phono pre-amp out of the chain because it just causes complexity for mixing. But there's ZERO chance my Pioneer DJM-850 has a phono preamp that does well enough to feed my tube amp, right?
So after initial rabbit holing and seemingly getting nowhere (there is a wild lack of crossover in DJ and audiophile), I figure it's harmless to ask.
I guess for the price of the post, I'll ask two more things, sorry to sound naive:
Rotary Mixers: I'd written them off to me being old and hipsterism, but Japanese listening bars and German audiophile record stores will use them for live sets, etc, and I do seem them more often. They can be beautiful, but I'm "out of the loop" here, and is it simply that they're a niche of high quality manufacturers creating something special, or is truly a hipster fad?
Moving Magnet vs Moving Coil vs Moving Iron, if I may be simplistic: It's MM playing out, MC at home if you've the proper gear, and MI if you're a rich audiophile, right?
Hi all, I am a final year university industrial design student and as a DJ myself, I wanted to design a controller my degree project and I am trying to define exactly what it is and who it is for. I'd value any input, feedback or ideas anyone has.
In my experience I like taking my ddj-400 around a lot for portability sake. However, it feels really cheap and tacky, it's a bit bigger than I would like it to be for a rucksack and I think there's an opportunity here for something with a nicer build given the 400s is a beginners deck and priced accordingly. Could there be a smaller more premium controllers for already invested DJs?
As a designer I am of course hoping to finish with an aesthetically strong product, however as a DJ I don't want to over simplify the hardware & functionality in order to achieve that (Omnis Duo, idk maybe that's what they were doing).
The reality is, this is a project that will be in my portfolio as an industrial designer and likely not to be reviewed by DJs but by designers. Therefore, the aesthetics and initial intrigue this pulls is a heavy factor I need to design to.
Please express all thoughts but here are some Qs:
What’s frustrations have you experienced with beginner or compact controllers, and how would you improve it?
How important is build quality and aesthetics in a controller, and where would you strike the balance between design and functionality?
Thank you!
Currently have 2 Yamaha DXR15's that have been a workhorse (https://www.sounddd.shop/.../10/YAMAHA_DXR15_Spec.pdf...) How would these compare to say the RCF Evox J8's?
I can’t decide which controller to get, I genuinely just want to use the smart fader feature and have a secondary controller for on the go since my main controller now is a Hercules inpulse 500. What is the best option ?
Is the Pioneer PLX CRSS12 designed to only work as traditional vinyl setup, or can I use one as a third channel with a controller like the FLX10?
Hi guys,
Sorry for the newb question, I'm no stranger to music gear but have had limited experience in the DJ realm.
I'm looking to burn my own music on to CD and to then be able to spin my own jams.
Originally, thinking about picking up a Marantz superscope and a pair of CDJ decks, but it occurred to me I might be able to skip the burner box. I've been doing so google searching but haven't really turned up anything.
Thanks and happy holidays.
Has anyone ever used or heard the Monoprice Stage Right PA speakers?
I have pair of their SV25 powered monitors (discontinued) that I use as both monitors at home. I love these speakers and thought it might be worth it try to the larger PA speakers for use at home parties or small gigs, when I don't have access to the equipment we use for my wife's band... which is all QSC speakers and sub.
Only interested in opinions based on actual listening experience with the Monoprice speakers, not alternative suggestions. Thanks
Anyone know what mixer Biz Markie is using in this album art? Is it real? Just so curious!
Maybe the MTC written on the side of the unit is a clue.
Thank you for helping!
Hopefully someone can help me here. Recently acquired an EFX 500. I hooked it up through the send / return FX loop but had no luck. Where have I gone wrong?
Currently running;
This has the set up working but I can only control the master with the EFX not per Channel.
Thanks
I am looking to start DJing and my old mac is beyond repair and I now need to find a new computer for DJing. I am looking for something under $400 and have been looking at these 3 computers.
Lenovo thinkpad t460 16gb 1tb intel i5
Lenovo thinkpad t14 16gb 512gb intel i7
Dell inspiron touch screen 8 gb 512gb intel i5
Any feedback about which might be best is appreciated. Is it worth it to do 512gb rather than 1tb to get the intel i7? I've heard good things about the lenovo t-series in general and heard that its pretty reliable for DJing. Is that true? Also, all of these computers would be refurbished. Anyone have experience with refurbished computers from either newegg, bestbuy, or amazon? I will most likely run rekordbox or serato and transport the computer around.
I don't know if my mind is playing tricks on me or I don't remember the right way, but with/without Post Eq on, does xone92 let you preview the filter in headphones? I spilled a tiny amount of alcohol on the left filter button and I can't remember how was it before that, if I was able to listen to it or not. Need to mention that both filters acts the same, not just the left one. Can anyone confirm if it's acting normally or not? thank you!
Hi there,
is there any way to permanently cue a channel on the Rane Four? The only way I found till now is keep pressing the cue on this channel while select another one. You have to do this every time you change the cue'ed channel that's very uncomfortable.
My fiance and I have been through 9 years of being broke together. I finally landed a good-ish job after he took care of me for a few years after I had a severe health crisis, and I really want to treat him to something special now that I can afford it.
My partner has had this old, 3rd-hand Numark NS7 deck DJ controller since before we met. It's now nearly unusable, and doesn't appear to integrate well with newer laptops. It has basically become a decoration in our house - I literally have picture frames balanced on the... spinny parts (I'm sorry. I know nothing). So, I'd like to get him a new turntable... setup thing? I am also a musician but I am limited by my knowledge.. I can tell you how to restring a mandolin, buy a good ukulele or musical saw, but when it comes to this, I am so totally out of my depth.
What he needs (as far as I can gather) is something that is good for bass/deep dub mixing, will connect to a newer laptops ( maybe even external hard drives?? He has so much music on old, dessicated laptops that should no longer be in use), preferably comes with software, and is easier to use. He got the gear when it was mostly used up, and he battered it further through his 20s. He didn't get to fully "use" it and learn to the fullest because of that. Something on his setup has always been breaking or never worked. I want to give him something that won't scare the shit out of him while he learns again, but that he can also further his knowledge from.
My budget is around $400, but I would be willing to do $600 if absolutely necessary. I just want to make him happy and see him actually spend time doing something he loves.
Lastly, I am sorry if this post isn't supposed to be here. I looked through a few subs and this post didn't fit anywhere except for here. I fully appreciate any advice given, and I hope you all will assist me in making him happy as hell. Gifts have never really been our way, we aren't traditional "consumers". If we absolutely need it, then we buy it; every purchase is planned. This kind of purchase has always been so far on the backburner that it's been smoking, but he fucking deserves it and it is TIME. He doesn't have many hobbies, but this one gives him so much joy.. I just want him to find that kind of happiness again.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Pretend you are a top notch experienced international DJ that was making millions from DJing. All your equipment got stolen. You want to buy new DJ equipment. Preferably Pioneer. The best available at the current time. You only need a 4 channel mixer and 2 dj players for now (not vinyl). Also you will need a laptop (any brand & model that supports windows preferably unless you suggest Mac for a good reason). And a set of head phones and some good speakers for home use (these can be any brand but prefer to keep them Pioneer if possible. Especially if they are made for a piece of equipment (ex. the HDJ-F10 headphones that are made to integrate with the XDJ-AZ if that’s what you recommend).
So would you buy a stand alone all in one DJ system and if so, which one? Why?
Or would you buy 2 DJ players (like CDJs or XDJs) and a mixer and if so which ones? And why?
What laptop would you get? You want a laptop to use solely for this (DJing/music). So only what’s necessary yet the best. Why?
Which Headphones? And why?
And last, which speakers for home use? And why?
You want the ultimate top of the line set up. You want to keep this for life preferably. Money is not an issue here as you have unlimited funds. Go to the extreme with your choices.
Hi everyone,
I've had my rokits for about 5-6 years and either theyre getting a bit old (and the sound quality has deteriorated) or im just getting tired of the limitations of the sound/bass and i've been exposed to better speakers since picking them up.
Either way, can anyone recommend a pair of speakers for DJing at home? Something between the 800-1200 USD bracket. I DJ a lot of different genres, but all dance music (UKG, bass, dnb, breaks, 140, house, techno etc)
Cheers in advance
Hi all - Need some help. I am helping a Youth Football Team with Music at their Home Games.
The stadium is fairly new with some updated equipment. The Stadium has Speakers throughout the stadium. There is a wireless Microphone and a Bluetooth Connection for me to connect my Macbook with Music (iTunes) to it. I use the volume button on the laptop to fade in/out music. All Good from here.
I'm not doing anything fancy here. I play 30 second snipits of songs during the play of games. Play songs when the Home Team Scores and play songs during intermission.
Here's where I need help -
I'd love the ability to fade in/out music using a mixer that is connected to my Macbook. I have had times where I faded down a song and forgot to hit stop on the laptop and the music was still playing.
It would be awsome if this mixer could cue up songs instantally. Like for instance if they scored, I don't need to find it on the laptop each time.
If it could connect to the existing system via Bluetooth would be great. But the existing equipment does have a RCA Jack I could use too.
Thats's really all I think I need. Any input would be great.
Thanks in Advance!
I am using the Hollyland Lark Max with a speaker for Wedding Ceremonies. I seem to be having issues where I get an echo/reverb sound. I have tried to adjust gain/volume but no luck. Would hooking up an external Clip On Lavalier Microphone be helpful at all for this issue? Could it be a setting, a wire, etc?
Hi - I want to purchase a DJ console that plays from a USB (not a laptop as I don't like that experience) but I also want the mixer to have input for a couple of turntables.
Any suggestions? (I know the PioneerXDJ range have this functionality but they are expensive : ( .
I think the Denon Prime Go and Numark Mistream Pro Go are USB players but they don't seem to have an input for turntables. There is a Gemini SDJ 4000, but I was told to stay away from that brand.
Any thoughts appreciated. (If Pioneer is the only option, please let me know which model you can recommend)
Thanks .
I've begun dj-ing at the begining of the summer. I'm already two gigs in and loving it so i'm looking to get a standalone pretty soon. I have two choices and I wondered if you people in hear could help me choose between the two. I mix mostly Trance/Eurotrance and House for the moment but i'm not closed to trying new genres.
First one is a used but good condition Denon MCX8000 that I could get from Facebook Marketplace at 1000$ (CAN) and comes with a case to transport it.
Second is a new Numark Mixstream Pro+ that I could get for around 950$ (CAN). (I've also though about getting the Numark Mixstream Pro GO version which runs with a battery and goes for 1100$)
I've been mostly playing on my friend's Mixstream Pro so I guess i'd be more used to the Numark. It's also the one they recommend for begining djs looking to upgrade and play live. The speakers are a big plus for me and the though of getting the battery one is appealing to me. Thing is, it doesn't have as much functionalities as the Denon and I'm wondering if have more of them would be practical if I want to up my skill level a bit in the future (and also doesn't come with a case !).
The Denon, on the other hand, has a lot of things to it, but is pretty old and I've seen lots of bug discussions about it online, on top of people saying it's at "the end of it's life". It also has split screens which I'm not used to having mixed mostly with my friends Mixstream.
Tell me which one you think is better !
I assume something to help disassemble it or maybe for the disc drive? I don't think 3000's come with it.
I have one mixer DJM250-K, and recently bought a big active speaker. I would like to use the 2 XLR balanced outputs from the mixer (R + L) but the speaker has only 1 XLR input. I know only one speaker will be mono, but I’m afraid if I only connect one side (L or R) could make me miss some elements of the songs.
How can I connect both outputs into one single input? I thought about using one Y cable, but some posts here on Reddit say you shouldn’t do that.
Thank youuuuu
