So I'm completely new to building guitars in gonna start with one of the PRS style DIY kits. I wanting to know how to get a nice 2 tone color like this with a glass look finish. I attached an example of what I'm wanting to do with it.
My first lefty body for myself and designed by myself :) I’m excited to see how this is going to turn out
Hi guys, Im new to this whole topic, but Im looking into building my first custom guitar which would also be my first electric guitar. Therefore i dont really now a lot about what I need, how to position things etc. I would love to build the body myself (I have some woodworking experience, but i dont think its enough to build a neck too.).
My Question would be: What parts do I need, what should I look out for and especially is there something like a guide I could follow out there?
Thanks for helping in advance!
I recently bought a cheap squire stratocaster with the intention of learning more about how to fix and customize guitars as its something I want to try get into. I wanted to do a realistic relic job to the body and the neck but I hit a brick wall when I realised that the guitar has a very strong poly finish and it's very difficult to work with. So now I have a already somewhat damaged body as I've created some scratches which I dont plan on finishing (unless you guys have some advice). I still want to do something with the body and the guitar so I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas on what I could do to the body. Anything is a big help. Cheers.
I am planning to build a 3 pickup telecaster. With "neck and bridge" combination essential, and the middle added for additional versatility.
As I understood, a pair of telecaster pickups have polarities opposite (RWRP), and have the middle position Humbucking
a set of strat pickups have the middle one RWRP, and the neck and bridge one being the same polarities.
With a pair of normal telecaster single coils, will the added middle pickup always being out of phase with the other pickups?
If I use a humbucker pickup for the bridge, will it make the situation better of worse?
