Just got my first crossbow in a trade, it’s a brand new Barnett jackal, but when I put the arrows in, the front end of the arrow is lifted up and pointing to the left like in the video.
I don’t know if this is why it keeps shooting inaccurately or if crossbows are just generally inconsistent because I am having trouble zeroing the red dot.
I am new to crossbows, but I have zeroed my rifle many times without issue so I wasn’t sure if crossbows just dont always shoot in the same place or if mine is fucked up.
Also, at the end, there is a second video showing the metal winding around the string coming apart, this started happening as soon as I started using the rope cocking device. Does it matter that there’s a gap in the winding around the string?
Anyways, if anybody knows how I can get my crossbow to start shooting straight, or any information for maintenance and safely using it would be nice, I get a few shots to hit where I’m aiming and it seems like it’s zeroed, but then the next shots are way off.
Also, I was curious how long it’s OK to keep the crossbow stringed up, does anyone know if the crossbow will get damaged from being set up for too long or am I supposed to unstring it after every time I use it? i’ve been using it almost every day shooting in my backyard, but I don’t know how long the strings are supposed to last, but I did wax the strings with crossbow wax, and I put some CLP on the rail to lube it up.
Barnett xp 400 went to shoot it for the first time startrd cranking it suddenly boom crank exploded.this i didnt even notice until i got home is it fixable.
So I would like to get a bow for when I go camping this summer and I saw Walmart was selling a Barnett Expodition 390 and that made me question what is the 390 and what would be a good bow if any for cougars and bears?
Xp410
For some reason the hooks that grab the string won’t reach far enough to hook on. I’ll have to pull the string by hand to get it onto the hooks.
Do I need to order a specific broadhead? Arrows? I’m just confused
So I have a 4x32 standard scope that came with my cross bow but where I hunt I don’t see deer until dark EVER. It has the standard 4 bar reticule. But I can’t differentiate the bars even though I can see the deer. I got a Cabela’s intensity for Christmas but I don’t like it because its reticule is yardage marked but the magnification is reduced to 2.5x for my speed.
I want something brighter or illuminated but I can’t find any thing that meets that without loosing magnification because of yardage markings. I would love something illuminated but just using bar markers….
I can’t find apertures above 32mm either that aren’t insanely priced.
I don’t want to give up that magnification even if people say I shouldn’t need it. I bow hunt because the rules are very oppressive where I have access to hunt compared to other relatively close areas.
How did you set up a GoPro on your crossbow?
If you didn’t use a GoPro, what brand did you use and why?
I want to make a goats foot lever crossbow would a cut down band from a leaf spring work as the crossbow limbs
Hey I tried to order some stuff directly from the steambow site and at check out it said they cannot ship to my PA address? What gives? I bought the compact on Amazon with no issue but any upgrades or spare parts are mostly sold only on the site? Am I screwed if I want any of that? Is there some kind of law in PA? So confused help
Hi there!
Found a broken Tacoma Trac 150 crossbow up in my attic. Was thinking of fixing it. Cavle and strings are broken. The crossboe sticker calls for calls for STO57 for a string and and STO56 for a cable. I am in Canada. I checked Ebay. They got some. I am looking for something to buy. Are there any equivalent parts to those listed? Thanks and have fun!
Hi,
I absolutly love my Excalibur Assassin 420TD,
But like some other Excalibur (like my ex- Equinox 225) it have an issue with some tappings in the aluminium chassis, that is too thin for this purpose.
So, to fix that, i designed a 3D printed part that allow to keep in place Hex nuts in place.
Works perfectly, easy to put in (juste have to remove the stock and re-drill aluminium with 5mm drill bit)
If someone want the .stl i can send it.
I’m new to shooting crossbow. I was an archery hunter/shooter 20 years ago and have a Block Target from then. I have a Wicked Ridge Commander M1. Shoots about 370fps. The Block stops the arrows but they get foam stuck to them. I have to scrape it off. I’m wondering what’s the best targets for crossbows that others have found.
Novice here, looking for a powerful crossbow that can shoot for hunting, low budget. From what I know, accuracy is hard to get from a crossbow at long range, is that correct? If so, distance isn't an issue really, its power I'm looking for really. The most power on a tight budget. Thanks in advance for any replies.
Wanted to ask about others experiences with their warranty service and quality overall.
As you can see the limb broke like butter on this new unit, being using bows and crossbows for years but never seen something like this, it's quite scary as depending how and where it brakes, could hurt quite a bit
Anyone else experience something like this?
It's been around two weeks and two emails, so far no reply from Steambow
Ok, so I want to make a homemade crossbow out of square steel and a leaf spring. I dont want to shoot sharp stuff so it’ll be safe, but I don’t understand the release mechanism. How does the projectile sit on the string if the string is on the latch? Because the sting is behind the thing so how does the bolt go on it helpppppp
My father gave me this crossbow, mostly after I mentioned some interest in doing Larp. But uh, it’s kinda falling apart and it’s missing some parts. I’d like to fix it but I wouldn’t even know where to start. Haven’t found any identify marks besides a simple 1423. Any advice here?
I have a Killer Instinct Ripper 415 and recently bought a Hawke XB30 Compact 8X36 scope. It didn't come with a mount and it's too thick to mount on my stock scope mount. I just want to make sure to get a good mount and not have an issue. I'm still pretty new to crossbows so I figured I would come to the experts here to ask for help.
Has anyone seen this video? If not I'll link below. He used the Revo magazine system on a Siege. The natural progression for the Adder/ Seige series is removable mags.
I suspect this will be his next commercially available iteration and that makes me happy.
I don't own the Revo or Interceptor and thats because to me, they look too small. If he makes an Adder with a removable mag, same dimensions on the top loaded mag but instead of individually inserting the bolts you just insert a mag like the revo I'll be all over that!
Hey everyone,
I’m considering picking up the Diesel X Killer Instinct bow and was wondering if anyone here has experience with it. I’m looking for feedback on its performance, build quality, and overall reliability.
How does it compare to other bows in its price range? Any pros and cons I should know about?
Appreciate any insights you all can share—thanks in advance!
What is the build quality of the gogun products, such as the whipshot or interceptor, anyone have a good or bad experience with them?
Thank you in advance.
I've never owned a cross bow. I've owned rifles, compound bows etc. This would be used mostly for hobby but also to possibly hunt/ less likely self defense.
My way of going at it is to find a good used rig that's already set up with all the accessories if possible.
Does this sound reasonable or still better off buying new ? Also suggestions on popular brands, what to look for, etc. I've never shot or used one, don't know anyone who does.
Thank You !!!!
Just arrived today, sighting it in and may use it for what's left of archery season here (ends on the 20th). I know they're a bit expensive, but I'm single/no kids and it's cheaper than a set of nice golf clubs or whatever normal people spend their money on.
So far I can say I am happy I upgraded from my Wicked Ridge M-370. The compact size and AR style safety are big pluses in my opinion.
Does anyone know which stringer to get to restring my Recruit Recurve? Thanks in advance
