Welcome to CineShots!

The art form of film and television simply would not exist without cinematography – and some stand above others when it comes to this inspiring art form. So please, join us in sharing your favorite moments of cinematic beauty!

Rules

  1. Focus on cinematography.
This sub is a platform to celebrate the art of cinematography, not for simply sharing favorite scenes (see r/cinescenes for that). While we don't aim to dictate what constitutes interesting cinematography—that's for your votes to decide—posts that deviate from this spirit, such as those overly focused on dialogue, action, or the overall scene, will be removed.
  2. Focus on singular shots.
    Prioritize single, uninterrupted shots.
If including cuts, aim to minimize them, ideally keeping them to 2 or less, and flair your post as a Clip.
If shots could be individual posts, consider choosing only the best, or splitting to separate posts.
When in doubt, shorter is safer. For scenes, go to r/cinescenes.
  3. No unrelated media.
Only excerpts from movies and TV shows.
No promotional stills, trailers, links or other material.
  4. Titles must follow exact formatting.
All titles must begin with the movie title and its release year in parentheses: Citizen Kane (1941).
You may also add the director and/or cinematographer.
For TV content, you must include the episode title or numbering: Game of Thrones (2011) - 3x09 “The Rains of Castamere”
  5. Avoid reposts.
Check for existing CineShots by using the search bar and looking through the top results of the movie you intend on posting about.
Avoid reposting shots with 50 or more upvotes within the last 6 months.
  6. Albums
Albums including only still images are limited to 20 images.
Albums including Shots/Clips are limited to 10 images.
    Collages are prohibited.
  7. Mark Spoilers and NSFW content.
Mark your post with a spoiler and/or NSFW tag when posting.
For spoilers in comments, use Reddit’s spoiler format: >!Spoiler text here!<
  8. Editing & Quality
Do not edit the content you're submitting.
This includes but is not limited to: cropping, stretching, color grading, changing the speed or adding personal filters/watermarks/logos/audio.
Posts of inferior quality will also get removed.

New Rule: Albums including GIFs are now limited to 10 images

From now on, albums that include GIFs or videos can have no more than 10 images.
Additionally, there is a new submission flair: GIF Album.

For albums with still images the upper limit stays 20.

The main reasons for this change are:

  • To reduce mod workload. GIF albums take a disproportionate amount of time for moderators to check compared to any other type of post.
  • To encourage selectivity and avoid posts that capture all of the notable moments in a film.
