Recommendations for a good dashcam and subwoofer installer in west suburbs, thanks!
I no longer have a Facebook and looking for a replacement online buy nothing group. Anyone know groups for areas around Palatine, Buffalo Grove, Arlington heights, Long Grove?
Hellooo, I'm a new homeowner and my house is ever so slightly downhill. I'm hoping to find some recommendations of someone that can help divert water away from my foundation/garage. Part of it would involve removing or redoing some DIY hardscaping from the previous owner.
I'm far west in Geneva/St.Charles area but open to any recommendations that service the area. I'm so tired of feeling stressed every time it rains.
Been in the mood for a great Irish pub. Any recommendations in the suburbs? Around Oakbrook would be best, but open to all suggestions.
I would like to find a small room/space in a cozy independent private restaurant with good food near or on North Shore. Not sure what season yet.
Hey so I'm researching a bit more about school districts and areas to live out that way (coming from Northwest Indiana) and I was looking into the more southwestern suburbs (Tinley park, Orland Park, ect.) I was wondering how anyone felt about the schools or where's a good area to look into buying a home. I'm from midlothian originally and have family in Markham but I don't want to move there but I don't mind being close. Looking for schools (Middle and High school) with decent special education. My eldest is on the spectrum and the services he gets at his school here in Indiana is abysmal. My youngest is still in elementary but she actually needs a school that will challenge her and have lots of fun after school clubs and such.
I have been driving to Joliet every day from Glendale Heights for training for a new side gig and didn't notice this until last night.
When I got down 55 south toward 80, the overhead signs say exit 250A for 80 east and 250B for 80 west. Then i see the sign on the side for 250B for 80 west because that's the first exit option. But a little further down at the interchange, BOTH of the overhead signs for 80 east and 80 west say 250A, which is wrong, and different from the first set of signs.
What do I do with this information? They are not the same exit with two options, they are separate. The right lane before the 80 overpass takes you 80 west, after the overpass is the exit for 80 east.
My husband and I (both 30s) stopped and got a hotdog somewhere, and I casually mentioned to him that I think they changed their piccalilli. He looked at me like I was crazy, and I couldn't think of the word relish for someone reason so I just kept repeating piccalilli over and over again. I even said something like you know that nursery rhyme that goes ".... something something piccalilli" apparently he has absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. I don't know if it's a Chicago thing or what but I swear that how I used to order them from hotdog stands and everything. He has no idea what I'm talking about. I tried googling it and all it's giving me is a British condiment. I thought maybe it was spelled differently and that's why I'm not getting any hits when I googled. I've asked a bunch of people and only one elderly person has heard it called that besides my family.I tried to post in the Chicago reddit but I don't have enough Karma so I ask all of you, have you heard of this?
Thanks for everyone weighing in! Superdawg apparently has it on its menu so I know it's not just my family lol
Anyone have recommendations for furniture refinishers/restoration, specifically for mid-century modern style. I live near Aurora but will travel. Thank you!
Looking for specifically the best tom yum soup in the area. Not necessarily the best Thai restaurant. So far for me its CHARM in Elmhurst and Bangkok Restaurant in Geneva. Looking for the best.
I belong(ed) to Xport in Naperville where they have a nice sauna but with a big sign saying you'll lose your membership if you put water on the rocks for steam. I haven't been to the LAFitness now that they've merged but I heard there's just an infrared sauna. at the Naperville location. Are there any gyms in the area with traditional saunas and no water prohibitions?
I'm getting married in May and I'm looking for a nail salon or nail tech to do my wedding nails. Will probably get gel x extensions and minimal/no custom design (maybe just chrome or glitter) Hoping to stay around $100 if possible.
Preferably in west or northwest suburbs but willing to travel a little bit. I'm getting married in St. Charles and my family lives in Lake Zurich, so bonus points if it's close to either town. Thank you!
Quick question for those who have been recently: I know it’s always a zoo on Friday/weekends but does anyone know if they take orders until close (7p) or do they have a “last call” or line cutoff at a certain point before? Trying to take a friend there and timing may be tight.
Hello!
Does anyone have any recommendations for some quiet reading spots throughout the suburbs?
My wife and I have been taking Latin dance lessons. We've been having a blast. We're getting quite good, if I do say so myself.
Are there any events with music I can salsa to and a dance floor?
Or venues that regularly have the same?
Live music preferred. It'd be nice to have the excuse to dress up, too.
Thanks all!
Good evening all,
I am looking for a dentist who specializes in tmj pain. My dentist referred me to someone who recently unfortunately moved to California last month. I called multiple dental offices today, who claim to treat tmj based on their website, only to find out that they don’t. I searched in the sub and the last time someone posted about tmj dentist was 3 years ago. I probably need more than just a mouth guard at night as I have one now. I have delta dental PPO. Located in the south suburbs but wiling to travel up to an hour one way. Thank you ☺️
My husband and I are looking to move from DFW, TX to IL and would love any feedback on the areas we’re exploring! For additional context, we’re moving out of TX because we hate the heat/weather, don’t align with the political views (especially reproductive/women’s rights), our local school systems are not great, the area we live in does not have the infrastructure to support the influx of people that have moved here in the past few years, and the nature is really lacking. My husband’s family is from northern Illinois and it feels like the right state for us, but we’re stuck on the city. Our budget is $350-400K. We want to be within a 20 min drive to a shopping center and have a good hospital within 45 min. We love to travel and would like to be within an hour drive to O’Hare. Must have good public schools. I’d like to have arts/culture activities like museums nearby. We love being outside so an area with a lot of parks or walking trails would be great. I have celiac disease so accommodating dining/grocery options within 30 min would be wonderful. The cities we’re considering are Naperville, Barrington, Buffalo Grove, Vernon Hills, Glen Ellyn, and Saint Charles. Are any of these cities a better match for us? Thanks for any feedback!
Got a friend in Yorkville who’s willing to drive if it means answers! She’s got United Healthcare for insurance unfortunately.
Hey people, I'm always looking for cool spots to check out around the suburbs that aren't super touristy but still worth the visit. Whether it's a hidden restaurant cool park or a unique little shop, I'd love to hear about your favorite underrated places in the Chicago suburbs
I may be moving to tinley park area. Down the street from metra station - the first one you get to from the city - “tinley” park station.
Is there a convenient spot to lock up your bicycle before getting on the metra? I think I saw some for the other stop, but maybe I missed them for this stop.
And Jewel thinks this is a sale. 🤡
Give me recommendations!!!!!
I'm going to be out of town over Mardi Gras--clearly poor planning on my part! --and was wondering, any good paczki places that will have them by February 15th at the latest?
Thanks!
eta I checked Central Continental and Country/County Donuts' dates already. No go :(
