what are some good recent fantasy costume dramas (not a snoozefest plz im tired..good chemistry, good plot, minimal baby voices..) i have to keep busy waiting for moonlight mystique to end lol
I have seen:
Watching: pearl girl, moonlight mystique.
I’ve been loving the plot where the main character goes back in time to ancient China & has to find a way back to their modern world. I’m almost done watching Fateful Love, but I do want to see a bit more rom-com elements. That’s one of my favorite genres , too.
I’m currently watching Stolen Love, and I’ve watched all the “popular” ones that people always recommend. Just wondering if there are any new ones airing or recently aired that people have enjoyed? I’m craving a good mini drama.
I typically don't watch a lot of xianxia because they're too complicated and/or toxic for me but decided to watch moonlight mystique for bai lu. Finished it last week and still having trouble moving on 😭 I loved their green flag relationship so much. You could feel their love for eachother through the screen. Are there any xianxia recs that have a similar relationship with not too much misunderstandings? Preferably happy ending too. I've watched a bit of LBFAD, TTEOTM, and Ashes of Love but pretty much skimmed though them. Maybe I need to give LBFAD a try again?
I want a ML who is a red flag to everyone but the FL. Kind of like the main couple in Love Like the Galaxy. I prefer historical and xianxia. Also please no sad endings I'm fragile enough 😂
I've watched a lot - love like the galaxy, in blossom etc
Hey everyone,
I've only ever watched dramas but are there any costume movies out there that you would recommend? I enjoy shows that have actions along with romance. Strong female leads and lots of chemistry. Costume dramas I've loved include Princess Weiyoung, Love Like the Galaxy, Sword and Brocade.
Thank you!
Hi all! I am completely new to C-dramas and just started watching my first, Amidst a Snowstorm of Love, last night. I have only watched three episodes so far but I am obsessed! No spoilers please since I am not finished. When I am watching it, I feel like I am just being wrapped up in a warm hug and I can’t stop smiling.
Do you have any recs for more like this? I love the actor and actress who play the leads. Are they in any other dramas? I’m open to all genres, fantasy, etc. Looking forward to this whole new world!
Thanks in advance!
Would love some help with this one as I’m in total brain fog recovering from bronchitis and looking for some binge loving goodness this weekend as I recover.
Thinking of watching Blossom or finishing up Follow Your Heart. Maybe starting the Double.
But I was just reading about another show where the FL is killed and reborn and she marries ML first out of convenience for both of their goals. Is this the Double or maybe another blossom titled something? I know this is a common trope but I think it’s pretty recent too. I can’t remember and just too tired to think much atm.
Would love the help of others’ brainpower. Also any other recommendations!
Will share some of my ginger congee that has become my absolute comfort food love when I’m sick. 🥰
Thank you!
anyone watch this and have the same feeling for other series that you can recommend?
i dont mind low scoring. i love the tenacy of each FL/ML to express to the other lead. thanks
We have Netflix, Hulu, Prime, Paramount w/ Showtime, Max, Apple TV, Disney.
We aren’t looking to buy episodes or add new services.
We have Eternal love and its sequel on dvd, but we are looking for stuff on streaming. We can’t afford iQIYI, and it doesn’t work on the tv unless we are killing battery casting it.
She is learning Mandarin, so preferably Mandarin, and she tends to prefer original audio with subtitles, especially to help her learn.
She’s seen (and enjoyed): Eternal Love Who Rules the World I Hear You
It would be appreciated if you can say what service it’s located on so I’m not switching between all of them searching, thank you.
So the other day I suddenly remember this scene (its actually one of my favorite) but i already forgotten from which drama, who is the leads what is the plot etc.
Thanks to my adhd brain. The only thing i can remember is its a costume period drama. Normal simple plot? Its not xianxia or xuanhuan. I think its from mini series as well (those short duration per episode)
The scene its infront of the palace stairs. ML walking up the stairs and repeatingly peck kiss FL on her lips. She asked to stop cos it was embarrasing and people might see.
I thought its playful and hot at the same time. My mistake is i never note down the drama name, and believe my brain will remember it.
I thought its Tiger and Rose or My uncanny destiny. But its not. Or was it overlord? But i watch that long time ago. I can not the life of me remember lol. Ask chat gpt its not helping.
And I just saw someone post also ask about random scene and someone else reply with an answer. It makes me believe that i might have a chance to get my answer 😭😭 but they post under r/cdrama instead of here. But hey I can try right?
I like when my ML is BAD and WRONG and has to spend real time redeeming his lame self before he gets the FL's forgiveness.
I don't mind if a ML Fucks Around (figuratively, not unfaithfully) just as long as he also Finds Out, but my ratio of FA to FO must be FAFOFOFOFO and never FAFAFAFAFO. That means no pathetic half episode finale of repentance after an entire drama of ill-treatment.
I also like it when someone else swoops in and steals the FL to treat her better, as long as her garbage Ex suffers.
Micro/short format or standard dramas are all good, 40 ep is pretty much the max I can hang with.
Please recommend something for my perverted taste!!
Recently got into Cdramas and really enjoyed Love Game in Eastern Fantasy. I began watching Moonlight for Esther and Ding Yuxi — now don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying it but I got curious about Moonlight Mystique and got carried away watching half the show over the last few days 😂
I think I’ve found the type of show that I like, but I don’t know if there’s a name for this type of genre.. historical fantasy but handsome demon / supernatural being falls for the human type of show 😂😆
If there’s any recommendations you guys can think of that I’ll also enjoy please drop it below, I’ll greatly appreciate it.
I am looking for fluffy Romcoms with happy ending. Please suggest shows that falls under any of these:
Other Shows that I have watched till now: Everyone loves me, Falling into your smile, My boss, When I fly towards you, Hidden love, Put your head on my shoulder, Only for love, My little happiness, Moonlight, Exclusive fairytale, Go go squid.
Hi everyone, I’m new to cdramas and this is my second post here. I’ve gotten some recommendations on the other one but didn’t really have luck with any of them. I know understand what I want more, so I’m hoping I’m able to communicate it better and thus get better recommendations.
I’m looking for harem dramas that revolve around revenge. I don’t much care for the romance, but more looking for the scheming and fighting for favor and power. HEAVY SPOILERS AHEAD FOR: Yanxi palace/ Empresses in the palace/ Ruyi’s love story
My very first introduction was the story of Yanxi palace and I loved every single second of it.
Second one was Empresses in the palace, and I have to say I loved it even a bit more than Yanxi. It felt more serious, and I adored Zhen Huan and the rest of the characters, even the villain and opps. The empress was one of the best villains ever, and I loved the foreshadowing throughout the series. The last part of the show where she takes revenge on everyone including that pervy emperor was just gold.
Third one I watched was Ruyi’s royal love in the palace, and this was my first dud. I just couldn’t get into it, how she truly loved the emperor, in the beginning put his needs above hers, wanting to live in virtue…etc. Just had me rolling my eyes and I don’t know man, I just didn’t like it. I powered through up to episode 50 and then just gave up. I googled the spoilers for the ending and tbh I’m glad I dropped it because it meh. After browsing this community I started Princess Weiyoung, but the fighting mechanics and them basically flying through the air just threw me off and I dropped it. Lastly I tried the double but the slapstick comedy killed it for me.
Now here I am asking for recommendations again 😭 Is there anything that matches Empresses in the palace and or Yanxi? I’m talking plotting, harem politics with women fighting and killing for favor? An MC that doesn’t "kill them with kindness" but instead takes actual revenge and hurts back those who hurt her or people next to her? Plots, schemes and lies, revenge, killing babies and making pregnant concubines miscarry, murder and all that good stuff. Bonus point if the female lead doesn’t love the emperor more than herself and her love for him isn’t the main motivation. The MC doesn’t even have to be this superhero from the get go, I’m okay with watching her grow and evolve into her final form like Zhen Huan. In a way it makes it even better. I’m hoping for recs that are also non idol. I’m not looking for eye candy but for actual immersive and good writing. I’ve seen the story of Kunning palace recommend, but I just don’t really like the rebirth trope. I steer away from it in Kdramas and anime’s as well, so I don’t see myself liking it in cdramas, but I’m open if you guys consider it one of the best shows in the category I’m looking for.
Does something like this exist? Or was Yanxi and Empresses in the palace a rare gems in their own genre.
Thanks to everyone who read this long post 🙏🏽
I tried watching a few dramas like perfect marriage, who rules the world but seems like i cant move on. I am not new to cdramas and i love watching mortal happy ending cdramas.i have watched a lot of them already but this is my fav! I loved it more than LLTG and the double, kunning palace, new life begins and are you the one. Please let me know if there is anything better. Why i liked MoGA- strong ML, and his personality, his love and his acting! Girl was very good too. Their chemistry was awesome! Story was nice!
Characters who are dating but pretending to hate each other recs.
My first xianxia was Love Between Fairy and Devil, and I absolutely loved it! But after that, I struggled to find more until Love Game in Eastern Fantasy. A reason is I've heard that a lot of the good popular xianxias have tragic/sad endings or that it's an open ending but hints a sad one. Another reason would be that they are just too long for my attention span. I've heard some xianxias even have multiple seasons! I did push through Ancient Love Poetry which was longer than the first two I've listed, and it was a pain to sit through it. In general, I did love the story, though, and definitely the friendship.
With that said, what other xianxias out there have happy endings under or just around 40 episodes? I don't mind if there's a lot of angst along the way, as long as it ends on a happy note. If there's a longer cdrama you think I and the lurkers must watch, please do try to convince us on why we should give it a try! Thanks <3
Anyone know like a website for free or pay download you can buy art or things to frame that looks like it could be in a traditional asian drama or wuxia or so on it doesnt have to be accurate style. I still dont want The house to look dated cause of The pic which is Hard with traditional ones but ive seen some refreshing stuff in dramas.
I tried looking up something on Google, but all I got was older ones, which I don't really like.
Are there dramas with those categories 2020-2025?
I've already watched Everyone loves me, and I love it. I also like Love 020, Falling into your smile (I know it's not a college setting but still), Love me love my voice... so anything similar to these os mich appreciated!
Thank you in advance!
Worth watching? Heard romance was very tame like Love game in Eastern Fantasy. But also heard it was cute. Looking for something adventurous, funny and heartwarming. Emotional parts are also fine. Was thinking trying it out but wanted to check the hivemins before jumping in.
When I look for the drama named, "My unborn daughter is a Prophet" nothing appears, not even in Google. So I have no idea where I can watch it because it was taken down from the app in the trailer. I'm thinking it may have an alternative name.
Does anyone know?
Perfect Match on Netflix
I am only on Episode 5 but I am getting some serious Pride and Prejudice intermingled with Little Women vibes (which I am totally enjoying).
I know that this is supposed to be a little on the lighter side (rom-com) rather than fully angst drama so I am not taking it too seriously. I think it is really cute so far.
Anyone else have thoughts?
Hi all. I’m trying to find the name of a drama
I remember it was about a woman (I think she was an actress) she caught her boyfriend cheating on her and she got rescued by an actor and they started a contract relationship.
Can anyone help? I can’t remember if I saw it on Viki, Iqiui or WeTv
Thanks
Though I’m still relatively new to cdramas, I feel I’ve done pretty well with watching the popular dramas that have been released in the last few years. I’m now looking to dig into slightly older dramas!
My asks:
I think The Untamed is the only drama made before 2020 that I’ve already seen (and loved!). Some of the more popular ones like Nirvana in Fire and Eternal Love are already on my list—what else should I add?
My favorites of the post-2020 dramas I’ve seen are Story of Kunning Palace, Mysterious Lotus Casebook, and recently The Blossoming Love.
ETA: Just want to say thank you everyone! I’ve got a great list totaling hundreds of episodes lol. Can’t wait to dive in.
There are a few dramas with “fake” siblings, but I want real siblings, or at least those that aren’t related by blood but don’t fall in love with each other. So something like Lady Revenger Returns from the Fire but without the romance, In Blossom has a sweet brother sister bond except it’s “fake” and also barely present in the drama. I really can’t think of any other dramas with a protective older brother and FL mature sister. Maybe The Double but we didn’t really get much sibling presence.
So to sum it up, older protective brother, slightly younger sister who’s FL mature but carefree, do not need to be related by blood but if they’re not, no romance between them, costume drama, i don’t care which sub-genre (fantasy) as long as it’s a period piece.
I really love the relationship between Tang Yu and Tang Dingding in I May Love You but that’s modern and I’d prefer the sister to be FL.
I am in love with this drama and now i am looking for more dramas like this. It fits all my criteria. Please help me find my next drama. I am writing down the list of dramas that i have already watched:
Rise of ning Love like the galaxy Melody of Golden Age Are you the one Unchained love Wrong carriage right groom New life begins Warm on a cold night Dawn amidst hidden clouds The unexpected marriage The moon brightens up for you Story of kunning Palace
Didnt like
Wonderland of love Autumn ballard Long ballard Royal princess Story of minglan My sassy princess Brocade odyssey Imperial coroner Governor and I A dream of splendor
-no immortal worlds -only happy endings no open endings -historical only
Thank you!!! ❤️
im relatively new and a baby in the cdrama world, and the last series i watched was love game in the eastern fantasy but dropped it before the last 2 episodes lol, i was just not interested in finishing it but its still a fun watch. Now, I just wanna ask what historical cdramas i missed out on, (could be new or old) that are actually good(great plot with great chemistry between the leads), i was considering watching Perfect Match, but all of the reviews I've read have left me feeling let down, so now I'm not sure what to watch.
anything historical is great
P.S just wanna share that i am not a fan of dilraba and bai lu (no hate just not my type)
P.P.S also considering watching the story of pearl girl but i wasnt really feeling it, but you guys can share your thought on it.
historical dramas that i watched and loved:
Love of nirvana
Are you the one
My journey to you
the princess royal
So I saw this drama clip in YouTube a while ago but forgot to save it... It was a college drama. Saw the ml arrive in college as new student with luggages and we see the fl run up to him and welcoming him, carrying his luggage to the dorms them asking for fee for the work...I searched my YouTube history but I seem to have lost it and can't find it anymore. If something rings a bell please do let me know. 🙏
I need some recommendations for bromance or like BL like-dramas similar to Spirealm, Untamed, Fangs of Forturne, Mysterious Lotus Casebook, My Roommate is a Dectective, Ultimate Note, Guardian, Dashing Youth like basically where bromance, psychopath elements, or mystery themes are strong.
I'm really into bromance to the max, especially when it's intense, complex, or has a love-hate dynamic. I also love dramas with psychopaths, dark psychological themes, and mind games. If there's a mix of bromance and thriller/mystery, even better! Bonus points if the characters have deep emotional connections, whether as partners, rivals, or unlikely allies.
