My friend told me he was messaging and messing with mexican escort scammers whilst he was on a trip there and a week later he got this text, is it worth worrying about?
I’m asking this because I see very little literature on it. I’ve speculated what the results of as US military intervention would have on the cartels. While the US military can pretty much annihilate any current military (state and non-state alike) I think they fail to see the cartels ability to subvert the system. I remember seeing Ed Calderon mention they already had contingency plans in place like distributing tainted drugs across the US to create a national health crisis. I also imagine they would resort to cross-border abductions of Americans that don’t have significant protection but still have value like the relative or friend of someone powerful. As brutal as the cartels are they are still in it for the money, a war like this would make it about survival and not the money. Not implying the US would “lose” the war but I don’t think they consider the possibility of turning Mexico into an Afghanistan that we share a border with and the consequences it could bring. Any insights on this?
Edit: I want to point out that I’m aware of many of the vested interests that may be the reason this never happens or that the origin of the problem is in large part due to foreign policy in Latin America and domestic drug policies/laws. I don’t necessarily disagree with the points made in the comments but I’m specifically interested in the potential cartel reaction in this hypothetical scenario.
