How to mod cars?

This may seem like a stupid question, but if I wanted to install a new exhaust system on a 1990 BMW 320i, do i buy the exhaust kit and take it to a mechanic's and ask them to install it for me?

Car Mods for a small SUV?

Hello everyone! I am turning 16 soon and my mom will be giving me her 2016 Volvo XC90 as my first car and I wanted to see if there is any easy mods I can add to it just for fun. It’s all black and the inside is this beige leather. It’s not a very ugly SUV, but it does look a little soccer mom-ish in the front. (I am still extremely grateful) Just let me know!

If you want to practice it's a great opportunity (aka only can pay $5/edit and 30 edits/month)

Obviously don't have to be the BEST but I don't look for trash either. DM me

Out of curiosity

I want to swap a Toyota hybrid powertrain into a compact truck like an S-10. Barring the cost of the truck and car, what should I expect to pay to do this? Drive shafts, fabricating, etc. What would a big swap project like this cost on the high end?

Electric vs vacuum Cutouts

I have a 2012 Volvo c70 with the T5 turbo 5 cylinder, and it wanting to get an exhaust cutout so to make it sound better, but at the end of the day it’s still a grandpa car and I still want to have the luxury of being able to be quiet. I’ve been looking and have seen both electric and vacuum line options for cutouts. I personally feel more comfortable with electric just because I’m more confident in my wiring than I am messing with the vacuum system. Are there any benefits to one or the other?

2012 Nissan Altima

I’m very new to modding (never done it before) and one of the first things I want to do with my Altima is replace the head and tail light assemblies with cooler looking LED ones. The ones that come with the car are frankly kind of ugly imo. This may be a stupid question but is there a good way to find different assemblies that will fit my car but also look nicer? Also if anyone has any recommendations I would greatly appreciate it.

2000 Hyundai elantra wagon

Tl;Dr. I want to strip the inside and outside of my car to give it QOL/modernized updates and have it look cute while doing it. I'm new and don't know where to start.

2nd attempt at this post. Will post pics in comments.

Long story short there's a lot wrong with this car. I believe it's worthy of being restored but it's going to take a lot of time and money I know.

But here's what's up with my car. I bought it from a college student for like $700. I have put in like 2k into fixing the bare minimum safety stuff. But there's still a lot that's wrong with it.

The interior is not just ugly. It is actively falling apart: the seats foam is crumbling, the interior trim is falling off, there's no panel on the hatch that protects the wires or the lock latch, the fabric on the doors will not lay flat, the driver's side door window mechanics are loose ASF, the doors all squeak and have to be slammed shut.

The exterior is jank. There's a ton of dents, chips, the top coat is flaking, so much of the exterior trim is missing, the bumpers are so rigid you can snap pieces off of it, and there are some rust spots that I know need a good patch.

The radio/ac/cruise control -(idk what to call this and for the life of me can not figure it out from Google searches or mechanics) doesn't have a radio, temp knob, a lot of the wires are just loosey goosey, cruise control is connected but doesn't work, can't adjust brightness, and I hate that the cup holders are part of that dash because it makes the whole thing fall forward on to the shifter.

The rest is just making it aesthetically.. decent. Like I want the rims to match the brake pads (like where you can see behind the rims and that little thing on the breaks is the same color as the rim idk what that is or what it's called), I want to upgrade the shifter knob to be fun and not sticky old pleather, get the windows tinted, repaint the car, and have an interior that goes with the exterior that's not factory grey.

I know I can do a lot of this myself but I don't know where to get started. I'm not opposed to going to a professional but idk what to search. I don't know what to ask for. I don't even know if a body shop would touch it or be able to do what I'm talking about.

Turbo gasket size?

Hi, so I have a turbocharged car and I’m not sure whether the turbo inlet is a T25 or what exactly.. I want to swap in a pulsar 4849g but that uses a T25 inlet and my car has an internal exhaust manifold so changing it is not an option. Any recommendations?

SUV/Vans for Modding?

I know, I know the title may make some people immediately throw their hands up however I am just curious about it. I am a bigger/taller guy and find a lot of sedans uncomfortable mainly with leg room and or steering wheel distance. I've looked into trucks but the market for those is so expensive it might as well be like buying a BMW at this rate. I've thought about the idea of going for your more "Common Traffic" SUV/Vans and having some fun with that both under the hood and cosmetically.

While there is little to no aftermarket support for many SUV/Van models what SUV/Van may have the most parts available or be able to use parts from other cars (i.e. same engine which can fit the same turbos as a sedan). For body kit and exterior cosmetics I assume you would have to go down the route of chopping existing body kits in order to fit them but I feel like that with a mix of some fiberglass could help looks a lot.

Anyone have some good ideas to weigh in with?

How do I adjust my coilovers height to make it lower?

Bought a car with some Godspeed coilovers already installed. The setting is as high as it can be, but I’m looking to lower it about 1.5in. I understand you loosen the bottom collar and then turn the upper collar. Is that all there is to it besides obviously measuring? I got confused when I started reading about preloading. Didn’t know if preload was something you have to mess with when adjusting the height.

I have a 2016 Honda Accord LX and was wondering what I can do to make it faster?

I have a 2016 Honda Accord LX that has about 100,000 miles, and just wanted to know what could make it faster and sound nicer. I was also wondering if like flooring a car with that high of a mileage would damage it?

Civic LX exhaust flange spacers

Hello, Recently one of my muffler bolts fell and this happened, I even got some burbles and other pops. if I were to use nuts between my exhaust flange to separate the muffler could it recreate this sound? I never wanted to mod my car, and wanted to sell it, but now I'm second guessing. Thanks, DeadBacon
