I've read a fair share of Captain Marvel, I like her as a character alot and also like Rhodes, but I never really understood or warmed up to their relationship. I feel like Rhodes is barely a part in any of the stories and their chemistry is really not there. Plus, I feel like Carol should have a romantic interest that is part of her own cast more than any other, and Rhodes is clearly more of a Iron Man character than Cap Marvel's.
But I dont know how popular is this relationship in the fandom. What do you guys think? Do you like them or would rather have Carol date someone else? Or maybe not date at all?
True words 👊
I recently read Jessica Jones volume two from 2016-18. At one point, the topic of babies, specifically Dani Cage, comes up. Jessica remarks that she has never seen Carol hold a baby and asks if she doesn’t like babies. Carol then alludes to Avengers #200 and Jessica sees her point.
My question is, has that experience forever turned Carol off of having kids? Of course, not every woman wants children and that’s valid. Do you think she may have wanted to be a mother at one point until Avengers #200?
If she still wants a child, would her previous experience cause her to forego pregnancy and adopt or hire a surrogate?
It’s just so interesting to me how much ramification a single-issue story still has forty years later.
Finally got around to reading it tonight, and I while enjoyed most of it, I don’t think I’ll remember it.
Wong had such huge shoes to fill, coming from Thompson’s historic 50-issue run. By no means did she fail, but… I dunno. It feels like a fizzle after the previous run’s supernova. I hope the next run has a superstar creative team to push Carol to new heights.
Also, I don’t hate the new look but I adore the previous one too much. Love the braid though! Reminds me of that kickass chick from Atlantis.
There’s still no sign of a new on-going series or even mini-series. She’s leading the avengers and keep a considerable amount of screen time, also make some appearances in Avengers’ academy Infinity comics, which is super good and fun to read, but a new solo-series is needed fr. I’m uncertain about why we still do not have a new solo series. (P.S. in case anyone want Kelly Thompson back, she’s writing the absolute Wonder Woman now)
