Hi 20M here, could y’all recommend a skincare routine with products that can deal with the above issues. I have dry skin too.
I live in cape town area and would just like to know if there are any nice good teen queer spaces?
Yes a G.24% back when grades were standards. I’ve never been really good with my hands but now as a father and husband I need to find a hobby that doesn’t involve tech.
I decided on woodwork because I can build some cool lily tile things round the house a Lego desk with storage a shoe rack etc..
I need some advice on what to consider when buying the power tools. My dad gifted me his old drill and I’m thinking of getting a jigsaw next. But some of them are R350 and others R2k what should I be looking out for? Also are there any SA woodwork folks I can follow on YouTube or the tock?
Hey guys. My last couple of years have been hell. I lost my mother to covid in 2020 and my grandmother not too long ago. My mother was the person who would put herself in absolutely horrid conditions for me; she would, and did, go above and beyond to guarantee my happiness. Secretly, I've been dealing with horrible depression and PTSD; I cannot help but think there was more I could've done to help her. I witnessed how weakened she got by the day and barely did anything. To this day, I still blame myself for not doing as much as she would've done for me. I used to have these uncontrollable fits for about 5 seconds when I think about something relating to anything I am embarrassed about. I felt so worthless, hopeless and so full of guilt.
In 2020, we nearly started a company. The goal was for the company to provide financial stability for a charity my mother wanted to start. The charity would've been called Listen, Read, Write, Remember, LRWR for short. She had the belief that if children are effectively taught how to LRWR, it would dramatically cut their learning curve, as well as heavily decrease the negative effects a child's circumstance could have on their learning abilities. These children would then stand a much better chance of getting higher education, resulting in getting better jobs, which would have then decreased poverty in South Africa. This would increase the overall educational level of pupils in less fortunate environments as well as the educational level of the country. She would then attempt to have the methods be standard in education in South Africa. Unfortunately, she succumbed to the virus before her dream became a reality.
Three months ago, my father was urgently called to the governmental clinic to discuss his medical results. When he came home, I noticed that something was strangely off. This is someone who never shows emotion when things get bad, ever. And for about a week or so, he would not eat or drink anything. The effects of seeing my father in this condition struck a nerve in me, as the realization that I might lose him too completely released me from my condition. Seriously, since then, I never once had any of the fits I would get and I don't see myself as worthless anymore. I am doing things now, with motivation, and my sleep quality has increased dramatically. It was so freeing, so unbelievable. I even tried to get my depression back, so surreal it was. Since then though, I've been on a warpath.
See, I am working on achieving my and my mother's goals. I'm working on starting that company as soon as possible. To raise money, I'm doing things I never thought I'd think about. Let me give you an idea; I have sold bed legs, stove knobs, and basin props. I have the doors to all the rooms in our house for sale, the living room tiles (if I can get them out), and I thought about renting out some space in the fridge. I took out the lightbulb in the fridge. Apparently, this helps with energy costs. I have no personal belongings like a Playstation and such; I only have this 2 GB RAM laptop I am writing this message on (it's more beneficial to keep it than to sell it).
My question to you guys is, is there any way for me to raise capital? And is it possible to restructure debt? The only reason why I am asking is because I ran out of ways to make money. I even sold our geyser. Thankfully, I do not need much, I guess that's a positive. GoFundMe is not available in SA, and BailABuddy, the RSA alternative to GoFundMe, requires business papers, something I also do not have. There is a reddit page where people can borrow money (r/borrow), but I do not have enough karma. I'm also doing transcription/ captioning work, I was on Upwork but there are only so many hours in a day.
You might see this post on other forms; I am trying to get as much advice as possible. Thanks a lot in advance.
Hi CT friends!
I'm (26,F) currently living in Vredehoek/Gardens and I'm looking to join a book club in the city.
Can anyone recommend any cool clubs to join.
Thanks!
So I'm torn between either finding a small place to hire out for myself and a few friends or doing the dinner thing but open to ideas
Considering the traffic and cost
Which clubs or bars that plays edm around cape Town cbd or Atlantic seaboard?
Hey folks,
I’m looking to sell my iPhone 16 - and being pretty much brand new and of relatively high value, I don’t wanna take any risks. I’m also getting rid of my slightly older apple watch. I’m new to CPT, so have no clue what marketplaces/stores are generally safe here. Any suggestions?
These barber shops have popped up all over the place. They are pretty good. Does anyone know where they are from? Mediterranean is quite vague. Anything from Spain to Morocco. I'm just curious. I'm thinking Turkish.
Hey lovely people! My car (Peugeot 307) won't start and is stuck in Sea Point. I need to tow it to Woodstock. Can you recommend me a tow truck company that you trust? I'm not insured, nor am I a member of AA. I'm also broke af, so I need cost effective recommendations. Please help a brother out? Much appreciated TIA
I bought these shoes a few years ago. One day, in an Uber I lost the shiny square thing on one of them. I really like these shoes and couldn’t just throw them away. I was hoping I’d be able to buy a replacement accessory & change both of them. Does anyone know where I could buy these accessories in Cape Town?
I am worried of facing hot days.
Hey let's chat
Cpt to jhb road trip 😉
Any recommendations for selling second hand goods?
I have heard horror stories about gumtree and fb marketplace. Possibly an unfair perception but my paranoia is not helping.
Appreciate any advice / recommendations.
Hello people of Cape Town, I have come here for a bit of advice. I have a holiday planned in our beautiful city, and I aim to propose to my girlfriend during her first visit here. She has a deep interest in flowers, so the Botanic Garden might be an excellent choice. I'm looking for some advice on locations within the garden or other intimate and serene spots in the city that are not too crowded. We are also heading to Franschhoek but meeting some friends over there. Wine is also a huge passion but might be difficult to find time alone.
Your suggestions and insights would be highly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your help!
Im currently in matric and writing my matric finals. I REALLY want to go to UCT next year coz as far as I'm aware, it's the only university where I can study Computer Science AND Computer Engineering. I am really curious o know what type of final marks In gonna need to get accepted. (btw I've looked at the prospectus and handbooks and I know what they say, I just need to hear from actual people especially if you studied or are studying at UCT rn)
I'm sick :( and my mom managed to send me back the R150 she owed me. But she didn't use my bank account and sent it via checkers. The closest checkers to me is a 45 minute walk in my state. Can I send you the details and you send it to my account after redeeming it? Thanks!
Edit: such kind people in our city. I've been helped. Thank you so much for everyone that offered and wished me well.
Heya Kaapstad
Saffa living in the Netherlands here. I left because I got shot in Johannesburg so you’re not allowed to hold living overseas against me.
I’m planning to come back for 3/4 months with my girlfriend and we’re wondering what to do about a car.
SA kinda sucks without one. I’ve googled leasing options and it seems like they start at 7/8k a month. It’s doable but a bit crazy. Any other options you can think of?
Just wondering
Why are there no pictures of Table Mountain being lit up green? Would love to see it.
Like they will sit their idling their car for 10 minutes waiting for someone to move (and not to mention cause traffic build up) They can easily park at the next 2 parkings over, and walk 20 seconds to the entrance. There has to be some sort of psychology to this.
What do you think?
Keen for a dance 🌹🙌
I'm a 58 yr old guy who's broken his ankle in the UK. Been like this for 4 months in a protective boot on crutches. I'm going stir crazy as I normally vacate away 8 times a year. I'm a savvy traveller who knows what to do and can blend in, over than these crutches...
My questions are
I'm sure they may be more questions to come from the feedback I get
Many thanks to this forum
Matthew
