There's Colorado and then there's fishing, we just put them together.
Colorado is incredible, from the highest peaks on the continent outside of Alaska to some of the driest deserts it has just about everything except an ocean contained all in one state. The sheer number of fishing opportunities are almost limitless and with this comes the daunting task of sorting through all the information out there and making sense out of it all. Thus r/cofishing, a place to compile the best of Colorado's fishing information in order to hopefully help a few anglers learn about new areas, new techniques, proper fishing etiquette and the rules that make fishing in this state great and hopefully catch more fish (or at least have more fun trying).
Anything helps: Conditions, hotspots, tips, techniques, new regs, old regs, ect....................
Things we tend to frown upon:
1) Blatant harassment of other users, education is a good thing but as long as an angler is within the law insults and other bashing will not be tolerated. If you disagree with methods/techniques that’s fine, by all means say so but keep it civil.
2) Non-Colorado related posts; it’s not called r/everywherefishing
3) Spam or self promoting links, if you have a site with good info please post it but don't use the sub just to boost your traffic or sell your stuff.
4) Breaking the law, if you post something here that is illegal we will call you on it, these include illegal bait usage, illegal harvest and bucket biology. Respect Colorado fish and waters.

I live in brighton and haven been trying to fish a couple lakes around here. I have been having a pretty bad streak of luck and was wondering if anyone had any advice?
Hey everyone wondering if there has been anything caught or snagged as far as Kokanee below blue mesa yet I know they should be close but just curious. Thanks all!!
Yesterday afternoon I was out on my SUP fishing. Once the wind died down in the evening fish were jumping all over the place and I saw several large trout swimming at the surface. I was throwing out trout HD, j-spec, and some panther martin. I had lots of small bites but only caught one small rainbow.
What’s a good top water lure for trout? Bubble and fly? I was in my paddle board so I did cover a bunch of ground. Any tips??
Currently have no license and don't have many friends in town that fish so I've been biking up to Thorton Gravel ponds and have had very little success mostly using panther martins.
I go south down south platte occasionally and get some dinky small mouths. Been to cherry creek res a couple times with little success.
was considering taking the rod over to sloan lake.
Was Just wondering if there are any places anyone could suggest biking to downtown to try for honestly anything but panfish/trout have been my primary target with my light setup.
Im planning on heading to a pond with alot of crappie but all i have is spinners, trout magnets, regular powerbait and salmon eggs. I just want a good meal without having to stop by walmart, thanks!
where is the best place and bait to catch LM bass at aurora? how has the bite been? also is dam and power bait still best for trout thanks for any help trying to take my grandson he wants to catch some bass but will really be happy with anything just want to try avoiding getting totally skunked
Anyone know when a good time to go to Cheesman reservoir for snagging? Any current reports?
Thanks in advance!
I'm from California visiting family in Basalt, and I'm fairly unfamiliar with the fishing scene there.
(Yes I know there's a ton of Trout, but I've been catching them there since I was a kid so I'm kind of sick of them. I just wanted to find something new is all)
Does anyone know of any places within (max)2 hours of that area where I could find
Like I said I'm willing to drive a max of 2 hours, but really only if I absolutely need to. If none of these fish can really be found in that area then it's ok, I was just really curious to see.
So please let me know. Thank you!
edit: Jesus why is this getting so many downvotes I'm literally just asking for help
Found a net in Clear Creek canyon last weekend. DM me the brand/model and where you lost it and can find a way to get it back to you.
First time visiting Lathrop State Park. Had a great trip with 6 different species caught and a new PB Pike!
I found a net today while fishing south boulder creek. If it’s yours, dm me the brand and description and we can figure out a way to meet up. Also, here’s a picture of a fish I caught
Hey everyone, I am moving to Steamboat from Oct-Dec. I am looking for some advice on bait, line weight, fishing spots during the fall season. I will be fishing with a spinning rod. I have a fly rod but do not have much experience with it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks to this sub, this summer's fishing adventures were a success. We went to 6-7 different fishing holes, ended up catching a dozen or so bluegill/crappie out of lake mary!
We drive by quincy res every day, we've fished it 4-5 times, at dusk with absolutely zero luck.
So: what works at quincy? Also what time of day?
Thank you all in advance!
Hey all!
Growing up fishing in IL and WI there was never a shortage of great Muskie fishing lakes with cabins that my dad and I would rent. They would also rent us a row boat.
Curious as to if you guys have any recommendations for a spot like this? This time of year should get better for pike and I want to schedule a trip. I’ve seen some spots around 11 mile but sadly they don’t offer boats, except the marina.
Thanks all!
New to fishing. Just picked up a good set of gear & have been casting out starting out in Watson Lake. Trying to learn as much as I can to make the most out of my casting time.
Anyone familiar with Watson & the river adjacent with it? Any tips on bite times, bait, etc. To cast out would be greatly appreciated to this newbie!
Caught this guy in the high parts Boulder Creek around 11,000ft. Anyone have an idea on what type of cutthroat this is?
Is lon hagler good? I plan to try out the inlet tomorrow and any tips are appreciated.
Early morning? How early can you fish there? Any suggestions on tackle?

Any tips and tricks, cool spots near the idaho springs area? I am a beginner angler with a reel fishing set up looking to spend some time in the area next week, anything would help! :-)
Planning on using some spinners, trout worm, and powerbait.
North Fork meets the South Platte
Going camping near there in a few weeks. CPW atlas has it listed as fishable so wondering if anyone has any tips on what flys to use and how the water water flow is this time of year. Thanks.
Going to try for brown trout in clear creek, between Golden and ID Springs. Any recommendations on accessible waters-edge spots for a poor chap without decent waders?
Thanks
