Homeless services in Burien dismal

I was trying to help an older woman who was very cold and needed shelter find a place to go.
It only took two phone calls and a quick internet search on a Friday night at 7 pm to understand that there really isn’t much in the way of services for people experiencing homelessness in Burien. This is completely unacceptable and we must do better. If anyone knows how to actually help someone with services I’d welcome the information. Thx

Spooky things are happening here in Burien!

Burien Workers are asking for a fair wage that matches surrounding jurisdictions. What did the council offer? Does it measure up? Truck or Treat?!!

Gym Buddy

Hi everyone! I’m a female (28y) who moved to Burien in April. I used to go to LA fitness in west Seattle but since I moved I barely go to LA in Burien.

I used to have a buddy in WS as well where we just pushed each other to go. I used to go in the morning (6am), if anyone would like to be a gym buddy let me know :)

I'm moving to Burien/Tukwila/Federal Way/Auburn in December. I need a studio or one-one-bed apartment. Any recommendations for one under 1,400/month?

Is the food served at Azteca Mexican Restaurant good?

I loved this restaurant as a kid, and my favorite location was the Bellevue Washington location. But, I loved the restaurant because of the building design and decor. I always LOVED neon lights and Mesoamerican related things (like the murals of step pyramids or paintings of an Aztec warrior found in the restaurant). Those were my favorite part of the restaurant. I also loved the stucco, and anything jungle related. Anyways, I have been thinking about this beautiful restaurant a lot lately, but I can't remember if the food was any good. No clue what it tasted like, and I don't know if it's changed at all since I left Washington 8 years ago. Since AMR is a chain that started on Burien, I thought I'd ask y'all. Be real with me. Was/is the food any good?

Bag check at the Brat Trot?

I'm running in the brat trot today and just trying to figure out if there will be a bag check, so I know whether to bike or walk up there.

There was no mention on the website, does anyone remember from last year's?

Where to meet young adults?

Hi everyone! I just moved to the area and I’d really like to make some local friends. I don’t enjoy drinking or bars or pubs, so I’m wondering where the next best place would be for me to meet other people in their 20s? I like trying new things, sports (though i’d need some coaching before joining a team), art, etc. I’m also Christian and I’m not sure if there’s a church that’s a good fit nearby too. I’d appreciate any recommendations! I moved recently from Baltimore, and it’s been hard for me to make friends before so I’m really hoping I can make some good memories here!

Why do some properties in Burien have Seattle addresses?

It's quite confusing especially because Seattle has its own 25th Ave S which is 7 miles away in Beacon Hill.

Just puzzled why the "City" in the mailing address can be different a different City. I can understand cases where the property is in unincorporated King County (like in White Center) which don't actually belong to a City, I guess they can just use the nearest one which is Seattle. But these Burien properties are under the jurisdiction of the City of Burien.

Example (not my actual house but very near): 11822 25th Ave S, Seattle / Burien, WA 98168

King County parcel viewer states that Jurisdiction: Burien. (link, link)

Property Tax bill states its city as Burien. (link)

USPS Address Verification states that it's Seattle! (link)

Google Maps has the address as Seattle despite it being located within Google's own boundaries of Burien. (link)

Redfin has the address as Seattle despite it being located within Redfin's own boundaries of Burien. (link)

Zillow also has the address as Seattle. (link)

Does anyone know what's going on?

Thanks!

Dentist recommendations

Hi there! I'm looking for dentist recommendations in the greater area. I have Delta Dental, so I'm looking to also keep things on a budget. I have some pretty serious teeth concerns, but am currently only looking for a GP type situation for my dental needs. I'd prefer not to have to go up to North Seattle for care, but am open to a dentist outside of the Burien/West Seattle area. Thank you!
