Other subreddits:
/r/birding focuses on birding/birdwatching. It's a great place do show birds you saw on a birding trip or hike, ask about birding equipment and practices, discuss good places to go birdwatching, talk about eBird, and related topics.
/r/birdpics is dedicated to posting bird photos that you've taken yourself.
/r/whatsthisbird is the reddit for posting pictures of birds you want to identify. If your question is "what kind of bird is this", that's the place to post! When posting to /r/whatsthisbird, always remember to include both the time (date or season) and place (general geographical location) in your post title.
/r/wingspan/ for the awesome, popular board game about birds.
Although we think there should be a separate subreddit for discussions about keeping domesticated / pet birds, /r/petbirds appears to be abandoned at this time. There are subreddits for specific species of birds people commonly keep, so you can search https://www.reddit.com/subreddits for your pet bird's species to see if there's a sub for it.
We do still allow some posts here that might better fit in one of those other subreddits, but consider whether your post more clearly fits into one of those and if so, we encourage you to post there.

Every time I see a pigeon, I just adore it so much. I Love doves too and my favorite doves are Mourning Doves. Ever since I discovered them back in November 2020, I just fell in so much love with them. Yet, they are the bird that’s been making that sad owl coo during the mornings when you were going to school. Pigeons and Doves just look so cute and adorable whenever they walk with their heads and necks moving back and forth within each little footstep they take. I’ve always wished I had a Mourning Dove as a pet. I just need to get my hands on a pigeon and a dove so I can tickle their necks and kiss them on top of their sweet little tiny heads. I’ve just discovered Diamond Doves in 2023 and I had also really fell in so much love with them. Not only because they look like really small doves with cute faces, their cooing calls sound really cute as well. Ever since I was growing up as a person all my life, I used to always see pigeons and feel so happy seeing them flying in the sky, landing on top of awnings or building tops, and walking on the ground. Birds Are Definitely Real. I feel the same way seeing mourning doves sitting on wires and tree branches. They also look so cute when they walk because they walk just like pigeons. I love all kinds of pigeons and doves.
Fun fact: Pigeon is just an overly common nickname for a Rock Dove because pigeons are technically rock doves.
I understand pigeons and doves carry diseases due to them being feral animals and always living out in the city & other urban areas but They rightfully deserve to be loved too. ❤️🩷✨
I was in Lodi CA a few months ago clearing out my father’s house after he passed and getting it ready for a sale. These feathers were on the ground outside and I would like to know what species of birds these are if possible.
Hello everyone, I need advice about a bird I found that currently can’t fly.
I found my cat playing with the bird, I was able to take it away and thankfully it is not injured (no bleeding or wounds), but the cat pulled out all its tail feathers it seems. You can see in the image how it looked when my cat let go, the bird didn’t move at all then.
It has been a couple of hours, the bird is now in a safe room and in a big box, I also gave it some water after it started moving around. We tried to let it off to the floor once but it can’t fly much, falls down in matter of seconds.
I’m not sure what I should do, we don’t have any wildlife service to help a bird here, the clinic also doesn’t take it. What can I do for this bird? Would it live if I released it? What is the best option here?
PS: I searched for it and think it is a Black Redstart. If you know anything about it or have an idea how I can help, please comment.
I don’t have it set up yet nor do I have the supplies yet, but I’m going to get them today And I will get the bird in a few days-weeks
My auntie recently found a baby Mynah bird that was supposed to be in a nest, any vet and sanctuary is a few hours away and we can't find anyone to properly look after it. This is in Tasmania. Does anyone know what to do?
Take a local drive to see my owl friend, usually perched on a few select poles waiting for the night to make his mark

Saw this little guy as i walked outside a few minutes ago. Fairly sure its either a downy or hairy woodpecker, but would love to confirm what it is. Figured Reddit was my best option because as much as i liked birds as a kid, i cant tell the difference between some of them now.
It's cold where I live and I have a heated birth bath to keep the water from freezing. Normally I would change the water in the morning, wiping out any droppings or gunk, but for the sake of time I am wondering if I can do so in the evening instead?
Hi, I need some help here. I have just gotten seven finches, now down to five because of a baby brown tree snake. Very common since I live in the bush in Australia.
Is there anyway I can keep the snakes from getting into a big Avery I have? I can’t use the 4 mm wire because I do not have six hundred dollars to buy it, since I will need quite a lot for the cage. And I’m only a teenager who doesn’t have a job to save up the money for it yet.
Any suggestions or am I just going to have to hang the branches from the roof of the cage so only the birds can get up there?
The original buyer said that it's a pigeon. Yes, I did (hand) fed it with rice grains, cooked rice and corn. That's all we have available here.
But for some god knows what reason, it still won't stop screaming and pecking at every person it sees. I'm at a loss here.
He's a bit shy but very friendly I Would love names mythology based but anything cute works. my already named birds are Artie (artemis) and buttercup
I might get another feeder to hang. But this is my first true feeder for my new home. Hopefully it wont bother the neighbors 😂

My cockatiel has a red open-leg band that reads A4590. Me and my family can't figure out the information about him based on his leg band. So can you guys help? Also, my cockatiel is a male and his leg band is on his right leg.
I was sad to find a dead dove in my yard this morning. I'm trying to figure out how it could have died. There's no obvious signs of trauma, it doesn't look like it was sick. It just looks like it nestled down to rest, and died. Maybe it was too cold for it last night, the low was 28 degrees F. What do you do to help birds shelter during winter?
