Have you heard the version? It sounds way too crowded to be actually one guy. Especially in the fast solos you can hear his comp as with two hands with bass and chords. Way too fast for single hand.
Agree?
Found a couple interesting coincidences based on 2 song titles from the David Bowie album Toy. Kind of made me wonder if David was a fan of Bill's music and wrote those 2 song titles as an homage.
Bowie song = "I Dig Everything"
Evans album = Everybody digs Bill Evans
And
Bowie song = "Conversation Piece"
Evans album = Conversations with Myself
Evans song = "Peace Piece" (released on Everybody digs Bill Evans)
Not really super interesting, but I just figured I would share.
I'm writing an essay for uni on the recording circumstances of a song of our choice and struggling to find things
thanks x
Amazing music. Happy Saturday.
I have decided that this album is one of the best in the genre.
I can’t seem to tire of it.
it's my first post on here subreddit. im sorry if it's nothing like jazz piano, i just like this composition of his and just want to make my own version of it out from scrap lol. also i accidentally make the guitar track tempo into swing instead of waltz. 😅
I have to admit, I'm baffled by the number of pressings of most jazz records. And I have trouble keeping track of which ones are supposed to sound best. But I know this: my copy of Portrait In Jazz sounds pretty bad. The piano almost seems to be clipping in a lot of spots. As far as I can tell, it's a standard Riverside release.
Does anyone else have any experience with vinyl copies of this record sounding bad? Or good for that matter? Curious to know if my experience is isolated.
EDIT: The only thing that gives me pause about the provenance of this record is the "Distributed by Fantasy, Inc., Tenth and Parker, Berkeley, Ca." printed at the bottom of the back cover. Does that make it some kind of lesser version?
I just have so much gratitude for this and Jazz finally clicked with me and met me in life when it needed to. No matter what I’m feeling, putting on Bill Evans makes me feel like everything is going to be okay. I arrived here after hearing John Mayer rave about him saying it’s the closest thing he’s ever heard to God, and I see what he means. I’d love to hear any suggestions on full albums or tracks to explore, as I’ve only touched the top of iceberg with his top tracks on Spotify.
Hi guys, I’m so intrigued by the complete Bill Evans Riverside box set that has like 18 vinyls in it!
EDIT: OK I’m changing my question to the community after getting a precise answer to my post haha.
Does anyone actually have this vinyl box set who can talk about the analog sound of the Vanguard material, VS. the digitally remastered Complete Vanguard set that came out more recently?
Found an old favorite as I was sifting through my LPs. “Intuition” with the great Eddie Gomez.
Perfect for a Tuesday.
Has anybody saved the score of symbiosis? The site where it was all found (bjbear71.com) is no longer online, and I didn't save the score... :(((((((( Please, let me know!!!
I’ll be listening to Bill, then.

I can't find a match from any famous version of this song of Bill Evans
So, I tried using song finder and found some AI covers(?)

This is pretty weird and I'm not even sure at this point if it's Bill Evans' recording
I’ve been listening to his performance from France, I notice how more in depth it feels compared to the original with his trio.
Original photo Toni Frissell 1947
He did, however, perform it once just two years before he died.
Still blows my mind to this day that this was an improvisation. One of the most beautiful pieces of piano music ever. Absolutely inspiring.
In the original broadcast of Bill Evans on Marian McPartland’s Piano Jazz (available on the NPR website) Marian asks Bill about him being the one who wrote Blue in Green. Bill states that he wrote it but Miles got all the credit for it on the record. However, the version of the the same episode of Piano Jazz available on CD and streaming platforms cuts out this part and replaces it with what sounds like an entirely different exchange between Bill and Marian that isn’t present in the NPR interview. Anyone know the story as to why they decided to re-recorded this bit?
Hello ya'll,
Here is a little essay I wrote about Bill Evans' great concert at the Town Hall in New York. Enjoy.

I'm trying to figure out where and when the "Brandeis Jazz Festival" album was recorded, as well as the circumstances of its production. Are there any Bill Evans enthusiasts here who can provide some background information on this?
Particularly the chaotic melody/hooks that happen after the jazz introduction section (1st movement section 2). I’ve never heard anything like this in my life. It sounds so random I almost thought it might have been serialism produced by a computer. But there’s just enough character that I can’t tell. Looked all over Google for an explanation to this and can’t find one.
Hi, everyone. I'm currently reading "Post-Bop Jazz Piano" by John Valerio.
Following images are from the chapter about Bill Evans:
I know this book contains many "Evans-like" examples created by author himself. But this part is referred to as "a later version of the same song," so it seems to be an analysis of Evans' actual performance.
Does anyone know what exact Bill Evans song these are from?
Thanks in advance!
Does anyone know of any songs with a similar feel to the songs on 'Affinity' by Bill Evans and Toots Thielemans? I can't get enough of the rhodes and the chromatic harmonica. i'm looking for something with a similar feel, a chill record to walk around at night through city streets. Thanks in advance, friends.
My fiancee and I are obsessed with this man, we listen to him every night in bed before we sleep ❤️
