I'm looking for somewhere with a good table top that has a slower approach, so I get get lots of reps in. This Holy Grail spot has been tough to find on Leon Creek. Specifically I'm looking for a tabletop (or at least no gap) jump that I can enter without a lot of speed. I'm really trying to practice the timing of pushing through the lip of the jump.
Here's where I've tried so far ( I live in Parkwood, so these are all close to me). ,All fun jumps, but not super great for intentional practice sessions:
I've been on the "jump line" at McAlister Park. That one may work, but I kinda hope I can find something closer.
If anyone has any ideas, I'm all ears! Happy riding!
This may seem dumb since bikes are supposed to follow the rules of the road. I sat for a long time for a stopped school bus this morning. The kids were all on the bus when I stopped , I guess they were taking a long time to sit down. The stop sign was out. I was just sitting there waiting. I wanted to go but I waited. There’s really nothing they can do since you don’t have a license plate to assign a ticket to. Anyone ever get in trouble for passing a school bus.
Im trying to mod this 17 mph bike to go around 30-35. I looked into a predator 212 but it wouldn’t fit and i just dont know what to do, please give me suggestions or advice.
Just wanting to ride more often, I'm close to sea world if anybody else is yo for a casual ride a few times a week.
Hey y'all. My cx bike was stolen off the via bus a few years ago but I'm really itching to get back on a gravel bike when I move back to San Antonio. Years ago I used to bike all kinda of crazy routes like starting in Leon Valley and biking around government canyon via Culebra to 211 to bandera and back. A good number of cross town routes on streets like Huebner too. Looking back, that was a bit... dangerous. Thankfully I've only been hit once.
Does anybody have any suggestions for rides with low vehicle traffic? The greenway is nice but not a place to burn rubber. Ride with GPS has a few but looking for more insights. I don't mind country or city, just wanna get the speed up and stay safe, thank you! :)
Windcrest Christmas Lights Bike Night is December 12, 2023.
Stay tuned...more info to follow
Are there any crash rides going on before the marathon? I’ve never been on one. How do they work
Anyone know of a shop that will cold set a frame? I have a Schwinn with 126mm rear dropouts and I want them to be 130mm or 135mm. Currently it's set up as a 5 speed and would like it to be higher. I did think about having a custom wheel built but I think cold setting will be less expensive.
Huebner Creek Greenway Public Meeting Join the city's Parks and Recreation Department to learn about the design and timeline for a new trail connection that extends the Huebner Creek Greenway trail from Leon Valley to Floyd Curl Drive.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, November 28, at the YMCA at O.P. Schnabel Park (9606 Bandera Rd.) from 6:30 - 7:30 PM.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Just had probably my most traumatic ride ever here in San Antonio, just a short jaunt over to the pool on a Saturday afternoon. In the space of 1.5 miles there and back, I was yelled at to get off the road by a pickup (on a side street btw) and came within feet of being plowed into by not one but two careless left turns (yes, I had the green). Did they add something to the water? What the fuck is happening?
Maybe that's just unlucky. But I grew up here and have been riding here since I was young, and it seems like overall we're becoming a worse city for bikes, not better. CoSA took away the N New Braunfels bike lane and basically refuses to implement any usable bike infrastructure (Avenue B downtown and the new N St Marys bike lane are incredibly flawed). TxDoT took away the Broadway bike lane that connects the two halves of Avenue B. Meanwhile traffic is worse than ever, making it even more difficult to share space with cars on regular streets. It's just really disheartening and no one seems to give a shit.
Hey, my son wants an electric bike for Christmas and I was wondering on people thoughts on this. He’s only 12 so I don’t want him on something too expensive. Would this be an okay bike?.
