Non-scam water softeners?

I’ve lived in Toronto, Niagara, and Ottawa, causing me to foolishly believe that Ontario municipal water was always tasty or at least neutral. I now see that is untrue and need a water softener to save my taste buds as well as my plumbing/fixtures. We got a gift card from Home Depot for the trouble of letting some salespeople into our house for a pitch, but they were way too smarmy, extolling the virtues of their product when asked unrelated questions. Who does one even ask for a simple water softener at a reasonable price? This seems to be a non-googleable question, so thank you for your help.

Barrie Transit Riders Need Seat at the Table

I’ve lived in Barrie most of my life and was taught by my mum from a young age how to take local transit. Now, I rely on it daily — for work, school, errands, and more. But recent changes to our transit system are raising serious concerns about accessibility, convenience, and whether it’s truly serving the public good.

🚍 What can we do? We can go beyond the usual feedback forms and emails. We’re pushing for a Barrie Transit Advisory Committee to ensure that community voices and rider needs are at the heart of any transit changes.

This committee would give us a real platform to address transit issues, offer solutions, and work toward a system that better serves all residents. Let’s make our voices heard—sign the petition today to help bring real change to Barrie Transit! 👇

Looking for an Affordable Car Paint Shop for Touch-Up Work

Hey everyone! I'm looking for someone who can do some affordable touch-up paint work on my car. It’s black and has a few scratches (2-3 spots), which really stand out and make it look less than ideal. I don't need a full repaint, just a professional touch-up to blend the scratches in with the rest of the body.

Does anyone know of a reasonably priced car painter or shop who could help with this kind of small job?

Thanks in advance!

Barrie Montessori school

Hello, I’m looking to enrol my daughter in a Montessori school next year. I’m wondering if anyone has experience with the Barrie Montessori school located at Bayfield and Hanmer.

Good or bad experiences, I would love to hear them all!

Or recommendations for other schools? I’m leaning more towards Montessori but open to private school recommendations as well. Was looking at Sevenoaks, but not sure it’s exactly what I’m looking for.

Thanks for your help!

LET'S DEBATE- NORTH VS SOUTH END BARRIE (WHICH IS BETTER & WHY)

I'll start. I live in North End Barrie Sunnidale area. I love it. We have room between houses, big backyards and there's lots of mature trees. Everything is walking distance and I mean everything- Sunnidale park, banks, restaurants, grocery stores, gyms, transit, dog park and the list goes on. It's a 2 minute drive to the 400. 10 mins to downtown. 10 mins to Mapleview. There's the random riff raff wandering around the area sometimes and they will take advantage of open cars overnight. The only other negatives I can think of would be 1. That we have coyotes around the area and so if you have pets you need to be mindful. 2. It's an older demographic, but younger families have started to move in and the older folks are slowly moving out, so I anticipate that will change in the future.

Only 76 trick or treaters! Bad year! It's 745pm! Usually closer to 200! Lots of little kids less than 1 year old. Not terribly disappointed but sad nonetheless.

Maybe the rain? Strange Halloween in my hood. Kozlov and hanmer. How's everyone else doing in their hood? How's the spirit this year? I saw some of the haunted houses driving down kozlov today , good job to those people.

Nicer Breakfast Place

Hey all,

My wife’s birthday is tomorrow and all she wants is a dinner/lunch or breakfast date with our 1 y/o. I’m new to the area and I decided I want to do breakfast but something a little nicer and not of the norm. We usually just do Sunset up here but I’d like to check out something else. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you.

What happened to Fun Zone Comics?

Has Fun Zone Comics and Collectables on Saunders Road close down? When I went to look up when it will open today, the google page said it was permanently closed, and when I tried to look at the official website, there was some sort of error page, as if it was taken down.

When did they close down? It was such a bummer, as they had a nice store. I managed to get some books at really good deals the times I went there.

Best coffee shop in Barrie?

What's the best cafe or place to get coffee in town these days? I'm hoping to find something with a good atmosphere if possible. I usually go to the Second Cup drive thru on Blake st. and have had a wonderful experience there with great coffee and even better staff, but I'm curious to find something a bit more traditional.

Your Cat might be coming to my house almost daily. If it is not someone's Cat, help us figure out. We might adopt her.

Greetings,

The Cat shown in this picture comes to our house daily, and because she always seems hungry, we feed her almost daily or at least 3 to 4 times a week. She doesn't mostly want to leave our house and sits outside for long time even if we go inside. I once tied a thread around her neck because i though the owner would notice it and put a collar on. The thread was removed somehow, but no collars on her. My house is close to Dean and young/Country Lane. So, if it is someone's Cat , please let us know in some way and if it is possible, please put a collar on her. Otherwise, let me know, cause we will adopt her because I feel very bad when she sits outside the door, and I am just not adopting it because i am assuming, its someone's Cat.

I am putting pictures with this post.

Proof of experience/work after quitting work

Hi all,

My brother just left his first job today because it was getting toxic. I was wondering does he need a letter of experience or anything from the employer that proves that he worked there for the past 1 year?

I tried to google but couldn't get any results

Thanks in advance!

Meet cute in Walmart tonight!

Just throwing it out there even though I know this is most definitely a long shot but. I am looking for the tall lightskin guy with green eyes covered in tattoos who was at the Walmart on Bayfield st. tonight around 6:30.

We were both shopping in the Halloween candy section and I cannot stop thinking about our little interaction.

Let me know if this by chance was you. Would love to connect!
