Long time electronic music fan, discovered Autechre this summer. This past month I’ve really given their discography a good play through. I’d have to say my favorite albums are
Im curious if anyone else feels this way, I certainly don’t love everything they have put out. Some of the very abstract experimental stuff is pretty hard to understand the first go around. However, I find myself very drawn to their music in general and their albums as a whole piece of work not a collection of tracks. Maybe this is me trying to be too deep but I just haven’t encountered an artist I listen to this much not necessarily being obsessed with every individual track. This stuff grows on you like nothing I’ve listened to before.
Anyone know why?
The gonk albums really been scratching my ae itch as of late, so decided to explore some of the artists that were involved in the project. Just listened to Possession by Ekkage and it's absolutely insane. Can't wait to delve further. There's so many immensely talented people out there who definitely deserve more recognition for their efforts.
I made this at the beginning of the year. The drums, bass and chords repeat, but the filtered white noises are individually crafted and tuned by ear. Those phrases never repeat.
Enjoy:

Which "A" set is your favorite?
Enjoying this one, been a while. One of my faves for sure.

Made this connection after revisiting the soundtrack to this 1994 Hungarian film Sátántangó. I definitely hear similarities to Parhelic Triangle and I can even hear the dull clanging of whatever instrument this is in both. Could they have sampled this and pitch shifted + EQ’d it?
Drop the live sets 🙏
Does anyone know what's going on? 😿

Fingers crossed for tomorrow. Update: fingers have been sadly uncrossed
i'm just curious, how did autechre make the visuals for some of ep7's music? (like dropp for example)
Reddit only allowed me to put 6 options so I chose only releases from 1997-2005.
If you haven't heard it yet, now's a good time to check it out!

"Earlier this year, I was contacted via Braindance News and made aware of the first "Gonkpilation", named in reference to Autechre's "gonk steady one" and "gonk tuf hi" from NTS Sessions (2018). "Gonk" has become a bit of meme among Autechre-fans, it's a funny made up word that has now made its way into a title for a unique collection of music.
Gonkpilation '23-'24 came together over the course of a couple years entirely via reddit with producers given very little restrictions or direction, aside from their unified interest in Autechre. This conception is very similar to many of the early projects released on the Braindance News Community page, including "Incunabula/r/" and "Ambe/r/", which also came together via the r/Autechre subreddit. After some consideration, Gonkpilation '23-'24, originally released in April of this year, is finally being re-released here to reach new audiences.
Featuring a variety of talents and moods, with deep ambient explorations like Achryo's "june", bouncy percussive tracks evoking mid 90s Autechre like Pync Floyb's "Scaphic 3", textural journeys like in Concrete Confusion's "Another thief of teeth in the fair east", and heavy hitting tracks like Flexity's "Fz.del". Many greats tracks here, especially for fans of abstract, glitchy, ambient, industrial, and experimental electronic music."

So hyped!!
The live sets autechre have released seem pretty much like infinite entertainment (I mean, just the first one is 28 hours of music) but it never really won me over. I listened to a random 2022 set and I could not pay attention to anything AT ALL. I don’t remember a thing from it now.
I have the Powerbeats ear buds and I’m not a huge fan of them. I want earbuds that are almost completely noise canceling. Right now when I’m out on my runs I really dislike the fact that I can hear the cars passing by and people talking even when i have them cranked. Any suggestions?
So the guys have indicated that they are done with studio albums. If we assume that this is indeed the case, are you okay with it, or like me, very disappointed.
