Hey folks.
The weather has RAMPED up and jeez. Summer is here. It feels like it's 25+ degrees right now. Suns out, no wind, dry heat.
This weather makes me REALLY lazy & I struggle to work or stay up and often need a mid-arvo nap.
Anyone have any tips on how to combat this heat? are there vitamins to take during summer? a mid arvo coffee or V drink to stay up? just in general, any tips on managing the heat would be really good :/
thank you
So, what's the difference between these two teams? It seems Auckland City is going to dispute the FIFA Club Works Cup 2025.
How did it get there? Why are they not disputing the A League like Auckland FC? Do they belong to different soccer federation or something like that?
Looking for an authentic Italian pizzeria in Auckland. There’s one that we like in Wellington called Scopa, wondering if there’s something similar in Auckland
I see lots of people on here struggling to find jobs across various industries, is it as grim in the construction industry?
Been wanting to get back into volleyball, especially now that I’m on holiday. I’m 16 but none of my friends play volleyball and I’m nervous about joining groups. If you’ve joined ones are they any good?
Sharing to help anyone being stiffed by Wilson's unreasonable lost ticket fees.
A few weeks ago I parked in a Wilsons, and lost my ticket. I sucked it up and paid the $75 lost ticket fee at the machine. Then I challenged Wilsons, and they refunded me $60.
Here's the email I sent. It took them ten days to email me back, and the refund arrived three days later.
Good luck.
"Hi there
I parked yesterday at the Karangahape Road Car Park at approximately xx pm. On returning to the car park at xxx pm I realised that I had lost my ticket.
The lost ticket button required the payment of a $75 fine.
The maximum fee for nights at this car park is $15. You will be able to verify my car arriving at xx pm through your CCTV cameras, as well as the license plate recognition cameras.
In light of the maximum stay and associated fee, and the verifiable length of my stay, I believe that the $75 fine is clearly an unreasonable fine under the provisions of the Land Transport Act.
I am requesting a refund of $60 to reflect the $15 cost of my 2 hour stay. Wilsons has not incurred any loss or inconvenience beyond my verifiable stay for this time, therefore I believe $15 is the maximum reasonable fee under the act.
Please process the refund to:
Name, bank account
Kind regards"
My car stopped perfectly at a K’rd intersection lol
Real chill vibe in comparison to what it used to be like. Can recommend, especially a visit to the Puhoi pub, where I am right now!
i took 125 or 128 buses (westgate to helensville and helenvsille to hibiscus coast) and im surprised many bus stops are in the middle of nowhere like nobody will use it. i wonder where can i find something like that?
Is there anywhere left taking bookings for Christmas dinner? Please post here so unorganized people like myself can scrabble for them :)
Are street workers spread out (no pun intended lol) all over Auckland, or are they only based in a few of the most well known spots like k road and hunter's corner? It's estimated that Auckland has over 200 escorts working on the streets, so surely there'll be a few in every suburb, right?
Asking not for a friend, but because I'm thinking of a new career path /s
Hi guys, I’m wanting to sew a few of my clothes. I got a quote for a local on marketplace and they quoted me $100+ just to shorten a bunch of t shirts. Not really wanting to buy a machine either as that wouldn’t make sense.
Any idea if I can hire one a day or so? There’s a studio in Dunedin but wondering if there’s one in Auckland. Many thanks 🙏🏽
Yesterday evening I made a post regarding possible shill bidding and whether trade me can help.
I had mixed feedback but most said it's common and it's unlikely they can do much. One person shared their experience in successfully having a partial refund.
I can confirm Trade Me does indeed investigate. I spoke to them at 8am and within 2 hours they were able to confirm it was indeed rigged and refer both members to their Trust and Safety people and I was advised I can skip the trade if I wish, or speak to seller directly for price negotiation.
Thanks to everyone that upvoted that so the right people could reach out to me and those who shared their experiences. Based on my experience I would recommend anyone else in the same position to reach out to Trade Me as they do look into it.
Caveat: This is a scenario and isn’t actually happening.
GEONet have detected a volcanic tremor in the Auckland volcanic field and have projected a volcanic eruption is likely within the next 72 hours. The projected volcanic epicentre is approximately 5km radius of the Auckland Sky Tower?
What would you do?
My partner got caught drunk driving in his dad’s car and for him to get away with no conviction, one of the conditions is he has to have a zero alcohol interlock installed. Is he able to have one installed in his own car and not his dads? Or does it have to be his dad’s car because he was caught in it?
There is a heap of Police in and around the Cordis hotel. I presume due to some important guest/s who might be staying there. Any idea who?
Just a bit of rant.
Moved into a townhouse and for the next two weeks we've had to write notes on every car that parked outside our garage door and blocking us from exiting/entering. Almost a new a**hole everyday as if seeing that lights are on in the house is not enough of a hint that the house is occupied and some common sense would kick in.
Ps: our landlord is completely useless, i called and they said "oh just write a note on the car"
With new people moving into other houses, the parking is becoming a major problem AGAIN, it's 1 car park per house and now its chaos with people lining up the sides of roads and even parking on both sides of the only way in and out of our street.
AT can't tow or do anything cos its not the main road but our landlord also not doing anything. I have seen trucks turn in and hit these cars but because they parked like narks in a shared driveway I did not tell them.
Edit to add: have tried calling a towie and they said cos its not my own property only landlord and/or property agent can call the tow trucks.
Shit rules in my opinion.
Ok, ready to start my monday.
Just wanted to say thank you to the lovely seatmate I had at the lotr musical. I wish we had more time to chat and just wanted to say you're the first person in the city to show me such a kind attitude.
Hi all. Sorry if this isn’t the right place to post. My husband was assaulted by 2 security guards who pulled him over the front rails at the highly suspect concert on Sunday Night.
He wasn’t drunk or causing trouble, just minding his business with a work mate.
They punched him in the face, purposefully stood on his glasses and kicked him out the venue with no explanation. It’s been a nightmare of a night and a police report has been filed. He’s pretty shaken up, as am I.
If anyone saw anything or even better, got a video, please please let me know. It happened at roughly 9:50pm, about 3 songs into the main act.
Anyone have experience with All Seasons Pet Resort in drury? Would you recommend them or are there other places that may still have spaces over the holiday period.
Does public transport work during night mid night to auckland airport? What is my best option if not publc transport? Uber?
Fireworks????
Hey, I'm planning on printing a design on a shirt for a friend and looking for an oddly specific blank.
Basically an off white unisex/woman's shirt with longer than usual short sleeves (to help hide a blood sugar sensor).
AS colors sleeves are probably on the short side, is there anywhere else I could look?
Well my landlord is an asshole and I can't put up with her anymore. I'm pretty sure she's broken many laws and agreements so DONT TELL ME "THIS IS LEGAL AND YOU SHOULD BE CONSIDERATE" instead of recommending an agent. I just want to find a good lawyer in this field. Thanks.
