Hi friends, I'm having a hard time finding a place where I fit in. I tried working in house cleaning, but I realized it's not for me. I also tried hospitality as FOH (Front of House), but I didn't succeed in the trials I participated in. The only restaurant I worked at was understaffed, and I ended up leaving because I was on the verge of burnout (not to mention the physical and mental exhaustion). I really need a job, but I feel completely demotivated and out of options. Disclaimer: I'm on a Working Holiday Visa from Brazil (I have an Architecture degree, but it's not useful here)
And since I don’t have much relevant experience outside of my field of study, I’m having a hard time finding something where employers are actually interested in hiring me.
Pls help
Hi, just looking for a recommendation, due to a misunderstanding over luggage I'm on my way to NZ for the trip of a lifetime without my proper camera. Can anyone recommend the kind of shop where I could pick up a basic DSLR or mirror less camera /kit lens second hand in good enough condition to use for a month at a reasonable price, and roughly what that might cost? We're staying in mt eden area. We have smartphones with us but I do prefer a proper camera.
The shop doesn't need to be photographic specific, although that's fine too, in the UK we have a shop called cex that sell consumer electronics second hand but with their own warranty, as an example.
I am really struggling with the social aspect of my life. I am 22M and have had anxiety/depression for a while, so haven't been as social as I would like to have been, but am getting better and hope to build things back up for me. I am just wondering what social things there is in Central/North Auckland for someone like me. I am into public speaking, history, politics, golf, aviation etc.
I am feeling a bit lost at the moment and would really appreciate something to do!
need a billboard for a shoot, somewhere around auckland. don't mind driving a bit. somewhere rural or around nature.
I'm looking to get my muffler cut off and weld new shorty mufflers onto my stock car which has dual exhaust. Every shop I've enquired about this has wanted over 400$ lol that's ridiculous. I'm a welder myself but due to living in a apartment and not having the space to do it myself or tools on me it is why Im looking for someone to do it. Doesn't seem like a hard job. Anyways wheres a good shop in Auckland that won't charge a arm and leg just to replace mufflers lol.
Hype on tiktok. Problem is they just focus on carbs. Heavier pizza than your normal one. The crust is sweet. The toppings is low quality. The pepperoni is very thin and didn’t taste like a proper pepperoni. $ 30 for this box. Its a 5 out of 10 from me.
I’m thinking of buying a townhouse at the gated complex at 24 Norrie Ave in Newmarket. It looks on paper just lovely and is in a nice part of town. Can I pls ask a question from anyone who has lived there… what is the noise like??? Especially at night? And what is the body corp keep-up of the pool and gym area? It would really be cool to get a heads-up before I sign my life away. Cheers and thanks so much, Joanna x
Hi! So, calling it an extension might be generous, basically I want to box in half my deck (roof already extends out over it) and remove a bit if wall to add an extra 4 square meters onto my little granny flat. It'd also involve putting in a door and 2 new windows.
I've asked for quotes from building companies, but I'm pretty sure they're giving me "we don't want to do that" quotes, since they've all been insanely expensive.
I'm not sure how to even begin going about finding a good builder who doesn't mind small to medium jobs, and won't do me dirty.
Anyone have experience with this kind of stuff?
This is about a 3yr old that had a accident on a public playground, the main artery in the brain burst,D.O.A on arrival at starship,I.C.U,life support, coma & too many yrs of surgery's & rehabilitation to count. Very lucky 2 survive but also a very different & sometimes difficult teen these days. Anyways this child was granted around 130 thousand for his life worth but I was told that it had to be put in a trust with a lawyer until that child came of age. Not long ago I was informed that was not the case!!! So for yrs this money sat in a lawyers account & made nothing, & we had to pay 3000 to get it out. Back then (2015) I was offered a huge property for 375 thousand but had no deposit. I asked to use this money & put the house in a family trust, but was told I couldn't use it. That property is now worth over a million & i feel this child was denied the future security of owning their own home 🏡 That dream is impossible now & as a older & only parent I worry about my child's future!!! Any lawyers out there that can help or offer advice? Is there a possible case 🤔 or is it just a dose of having to accept this kid was ripped off!!!
Any idea how long will the charge appear if you use a debit card when using public transport? Tried to enter my debit card details earlier on the AT website but it’s bugging out. Tia.
Kia ora, I was just wondering if anyone has a recommendation for the best mental health line in Auckland to call? Have been going through bad panic disorder since feb and am finding it hard to reach out to the correct resources. I used to be under kainga tiaki but they are only for short term crisis help. Anxiety New Zealand is an option but that is also only reserved for when you are having a panic attack not before. Just need a line to talk out my anxiety with someone before it gets full blown. The 1737 line is notoriously bad but if anyone had any other suggestions please drop them below.
Thank you in advance
Recently moved to Wainui area, and I clean my window sills EVERYDAY due to these bugs!!
Some are alive, some are dead. Pls send help
From the builder's report.
Soffits
Soffits approx. width varies from none up to 300mm and are painted fibrolite and timber. All appear in good condition at time of inspection.
Hello Just wondeing if there are any dad coffee groups out there, and where one would go to find one?
My fiance is back to work, which is shift work including the occasional weekend. Today is the first day I'm doing sunrise to sunset with my 9mo daughter. We find plenty of things to do during the day, but it got me to thinking whether there are dad groups out there, in case the dadamamababa chat gets a bit dry at home
South auckland based but happy to travel if it helps.
P.S it doesn't actually need to be dads specifically, but I dare not try tell my fiance I'm going for coffee, with what she will predetermine as MILFs, while she's hard at work 😅
TIA
Hey does anyone know any support group for women in auckland? I am a young nonbinary person who was born as a woman and presents as one. Naturally i have experienced harassment and worse behaviours from men my entire life and i just really need someone to talk to about it, preferably a support group of women if there are any if anyone knows of any.
Hey all, was just wondering if anyone had any recommendations for an authentic and affordable boxing gym to learn to properly fight.
Have been trying to find a good mix of somewhere that will properly teach you how to box without throwing people into a ring before they’re ready and providing zero help.
On the flip side I’ve seen far too many boxing gyms seem to offer no actual fighting advice or advancements to begin fighting and seem to just be ‘boxercise’ gyms.
In Mt Albert but happy to go almost anywhere this side of the gym for affordability and authenticity. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
Happy Saturday all
Hi everyone!
I am a Canadian visiting and my Kiwi family back home has asked me to bring back some milkshake syrup. I am struggling to find a place to buy them. Does anybody know where I could find some bottles of the syrup in or around the city?
I know Woolworth’s has a few but it seems like they only have chocolate or banana.
Their favourite brand is The Longest and we are especially hoping to find the Jaffa/ chocolate orange flavour. But beggars can’t be choosers!
Any tips or suggestions are appreciated!
Our settlement is on the 21st and the rates are due on the 24th.
We are selling to council and I know we shouldn't pay rates for the time we are not here.
So, are rates paid in advance or following usage?
Thanks!
If there is one?
Hello Reddit Fam, we are a family relocating from Auckland to Christchurch. Does anyone have any experience/recommendations for moving companies? I’ve heard some real horror stories but keen to hear of any positive experiences or recommendations for companies that really went the extra mile (sorry, not sorry for the pun 😀). Many thanks
Hi team. My wife is looking at getting a fine line tattoo and is looking for recommendations on somewhere good. She's been looking at Auckland Fine Line Tattoos in KRoad and also KJ Fine Line Tattoos - but keen to know if anyone has any recommendations?
Cheers
Hey team, looking for easy-access countryside locations around Auckland for a shoot. Chasing that golden, sun-drenched vibe—open fields, rolling hills, long grass, and a bit of a rural feel.
Ideally, nothing too far out or requiring a massive trek. Any hidden gems or go-to spots** you’d recommend? Cheers!
Where can I find poutine in Auckland??? I can't find a place that does it for the life of me, just one bite will fix me.
About 12 years ago we bought a lifestyle property in the Auckland region (about 5 acres). We weren't told at the time that an on-site structure (2 bedroom self contained) with power and plumbing was unconsented. Also at the time of purchase were 2 other unconsented sheds (one with power, one without).
About 7 years ago we had a 3-bay-shed built which includes power but no plumbing and it was not consented as we believed consent was not required.
Added to the house, at the time of purchase, are extensive decks. Is there any way to see if the decks were consented?
We're retired now and considering selling the property and wonder if it would be worth trying to get this all consented prior to sale. We'd prefer to have everything consented but worried about legalities and cost. We think if everything was consented we'd attract a better sale price.
Can anyone advise what we might be up for, and what might be the worst case scenario please?
We absolutely don't want to drop the real estate agent nor the prior owner of the property in the shit.
Thanks for advice
Looking for recommendations on companies that provide residential housing valuations in Helensville. I’ve found one option, but they won’t attend court or handle legal matters (not an amicable divorce), and there’s an 85% chance this will end up there.
Hoping to explore other options - any suggestions?
Thanks!
Our landlord proposes an increase in rent if we were to renew our lease for a year - though it’s only been 6 months since our initial fixed tenancy.
If i’m not mistaken, this is only permitted every 12 months unless stated otherwise in contract etc?
Does this have any grounds? Thanks
When I was at Long Bay on the north shore at the northern end yesterday I noticed literally everywhere were small white plastic pellets all along the shoreline. I'm not sure what they're from and didn't bring my phone with me so didn't get a photo.
They were everywhere I went and would be hundreds in a square meter. It's a marine reserve so I'm trying to understand how this has happened. Or who to inform. Or what can be done about it? Because with there being hundreds of thousands of these plastic pellets sure that's quite damaging to the marine and bird life there?
