seeking wedding dress tailor

Looking for someone reputable to help with tailoring my wedding dress, I got it 2 sizes too big (it was on sale). Wondering if there’s anyone local here or should I try my luck in PDX.

Is anyone interested in joining a horror/suspense book club?

I love the horror, suspense, and thriller genre books and would love to join or start a book club. Ideally we would meet once or twice a month and have a monthly book to read and discuss (bonus if it’s available on the Libby app or at the library.) If you’re interested shoot me a message!

Planning a visit - how long to stay?

I’m planning to visit Astoria sometime in December, coming down from Seattle. I’ve been in the PNW for about a year now and always wanted to see Astoria - it looks like such a beautiful place! I want to have the time to do the requisite touristy stuff, see the coast, do whatever Goonies things there are to do, check out Astoria, nice easy pace, relax a bit and take it easy. How many days should I plan for? Is 3 or 4 enough? Any suggestions for when to come? Can’t wait to see your city 😊

ISO Roofing company recs

Hi! I am looking to replace my shingle-roof with a metal roof. My house is single story and about 1400 sq ft. Does anyone have a local roofing company they can recommend? Thanks!

What Kind Of Severe Weather Determines The Astoria-Megler Bridge To Close?

I’ll be making my alway from PDX to Long Beach on the 27th so there is time for the weather to change up, but I am curious to know if rain and wind and how much of it can trigger a bridge closure on my drive up?

Thanks

Leaves on the trees

Have you guys lost most of your leaves out there or are there still a fair amount. We were hoping to drive out next weekend and I'm worried if we wait an extra week all the trees will be bare.

Weather in Astoria

Hello! My family and I are considering moving to Astoria next year, and we're curious about the weather there. We’ve lived in Portland and just outside of Seattle, so we're used to rainy weather and not having many sunny days. What we're especially interested in is the wind and storms in the area. Any feedback would be great, thanks!

Looking for a rental agent

Moving to Astoria 23(M) due to work in December and looking for a rental agent. Have a decent paying job 80-90k set up so looking around the 1000-1800 range. Visiting next week to tour apartments and the online search is a bit dry. Does anyone have any recommendations or advice.

Also not as pressing as a concern, but a little nervous about moving there alone, I can tell its mostly geared towards introverts which is fine, but it would be nice to have some form of human interaction. I’m Afro-American if that matters, but any third spaces that would be nice to frequent as a 20 year old I will definitely also look into it myself.

Random tidbit but its nice theres is a-lot of places to hike here, especially coming from somewhere as lush as Austin its nice having nature where you live.

What do you love and hate about Astoria?

Former Oregonian, moved to Montana about 10 years ago and moving back to Oregon in the summer. Trying to figure out where to land and Astoria is on the radar, what’s going on in Astoria these days?

Question about PDX to Astoria

Planning a trip to visit Astoria next year. Will be flying into PDX and then renting a car. Any tips for a place to stop and eat in between PDX and Astoria? Don't want to be hangry on the drive.

Music scene rant

Last night there were 3 venues around downtown that had shows/bands. The Haunt, Underground/Avalon and Merry Time. I’m thrilled when there’s any cool bands playing here! Yay! But I popped by all 3 and there were less than a dozen or so people attendance at each one (Merry Time’s bar was pretty packed but a handful of people were paying attention to the live music). The other gigs were so sparse I felt bad for the bands and bartenders. I really wish the people who do booking or put together shows in this town would talk to each other or form some kind of coalition to organize or collaborate - so bands might actually play to some substantial crowds. All this music was fun and happening at the same time, but it’s so chaotic feast or famine here. I don’t know who does bookings but hoping someone reading this gets what I’m trying to say. I’m not complaining about having multiple options, but wish it was more consolidated or staggered out so the shows have a fighting chance of being well attended.

In Astoria for the weekend, anyone got recommendations for the town?

My wife and I are gonna be in Astoria for the weekend and I wanted to ask y'all what would be fun to do! We're both illustrators and nerds who enjoy weird paranormal/cryptid stuff, museums, and light hiking.

Stuff I definitely wanna take her on if possible is a place with afternoon tea service if there's a place in town! Any restaurant recommendations would be great too!

Bonus points if there's any roadside stops or recs for the trip coming down from Seattle!

What's the wind and rain ACTUALLY like in the winter?

We've visited multiple times and are planning on moving to Astoria. We have another visit coming up in December as we want to actually experience how much rain and wind the area gets.

We lived in Seattle/Tacoma for a long time, so are used to NW weather and rain, but are told the wind in particular can get nuts in Astoria. Just looking for locals' takes. In the winter are you routinely dealing with insane wind, having to lean into it, or it's like anywhere else where you have a few particularly bad days. Thanks.
