Looking online there seems to be all these job opportunities, but actually getting an interview is nearly impossible.
Looks like some sort of controlled burn, but anyone know what those are?
Looking for festival of dark arts ticket.
We've been working on this for some time now. It's a little bit more complicated than folks might think. I'm signed to Stand Up! Records out of Minneapolis. The CEO of my label Dan Schlissel has a dang Grammy. He'll be the executive producer, his partner in crime Ian Rans will be the director. Drew Wilson McGrath is going to host and Lynette Manning is going to feature. They are in the process of hiring the film crew. I'm very lucky that I don't have to handle that part. What I'm going to be working on is making sure that all the jokes are ready to go. Myself and Dan work on it together. And I think we've pretty much locked in what I want to do.
My first comedy Album/Special "Round Trip" went to number one on iTunes, and I'm proud of it. If you haven't seen it you should check it out. Also If you can make it to the Liberty Theater on March 8th I would love for you to see this. Also, a huge shout-out to all the folks at the Theater they've been great. Another huge shout-out to Drew Wilson McGrath from North Coast Comedy. He's been great too. But yeah tickets are available. Thank you everybody for the support. I really do love Astoria and that theater and that's why I'm recording my special there.
I'm considering taking classes and getting my license through the (somewhat) new flight school at the airport. Would love to hear experiences with that specifically, or just being a pilot here in general. I suspect this is far from cost effective, but I go to Portland a lot and I have a pipedream of owning or sharing a small plane to commute on occasion. My dad was a pilot and had a shared ownership in a plane he used to travel around Idaho for his job. He absolutely loved it, but my mom made him stop flying (AND riding his motorcyle) shortly after I was born.
We have all imagined running away, embarking on a new life in a new land. For some its a vision of adventure, others a peaceful escape.
Okay excuse my cringe, Astoria is a fascinating town. If you’re from any of the flat uninteresting plain cities such as Dallas, Phoenix, Houston etc be prepared for a scale shift.
One of the perks of this area is that there are many small businesses which compete for limited customers. Most small places are boutique-like and staff are generally friendly.
Now I don’t know why you are moving here, but keep in mind its an older town. As someone younger who moved here alone, it can be difficult making friends. I don’t have much advice, outside of take care of yourself.
I’ll leave you with my favorite car in Seaside
Hey there I was cleaning out some stuff and was wondering if anyone knew of local places to donate clothes, jackets, linens and household goods besides goodwill.
Prefer items to go directly to those who need them. Thanks!
I live in the east side of town, near the Safeway. About 9AM this morning there were three loud bangs about 20 seconds apart. Loud-enough to hear it echo off of the hill. Sounded kinda like an electrical transformer going off, but three in a row. Maybe a firearm, but hard to tell. No smoke or emergency vehicles, so nothing to be concerned about, but curious if anyone knows what it was.
Looking for a good hair salon. Preferably somewhere that specializes in fun colors or taking unnatural hair colors out.
hello friends! my partner and i are visiting astoria this weekend and i was wondering, what are some food spots we MUST check out while there? open to anything really, excited to check out this beautiful place!
Does anyone have suggestions for a housekeeper they really like? Looking to hire someone 2 times a month to come clean.
Bars, viewpoints, restaurants, shenanigans, tomfoolery, roughneck joints, slopshoots, pogo stick parties, buttsniffing parties, riff-raff, flappers, mashers and hatpins, you know any real fun places that a dog would like to go sniff and experience some chaos of human or dog company?

Seems like Astoria doesn’t have very many options or anything at all when it comes to childcare/pet care. Been looking around trying to find someone/somewhere for my kids to be watched and my pets. Looking into doggy daycare or day care in general is nearly impossible. There is no place for kids to play that is inside on a rainy day.
Hi, i'll be coming to Astoria for a couple of days in June for my 40th and just wondering if there is anything i should defintely do/eat/see in my short stop. I'll be looking at coming 12th/14th from Portland and i think the Amtrak bus is the only way? My short list so far is:
Dead Man's Isle, Oregon Film Museum, Underground Tour and a trip to Cannon Beach because Goonies :D
Please let me know of your best places or places i can skip.
I live in Astoria proper, walking distance to downtown. I woke up this morning with an intense craving for donuts. I know there's a shop in Seaside, but I don't really want to get in my car and drive 45 minutes round trip for some donuts. Of all the little bakeries in town, are there any that ever do donuts, or ever have? If it gets desperate I guess I'll just go to Safeway...
Shame about JamBot, I could really use them right now.
I need to have my siding re-stained and I’m looking for recommendations on local companies. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
I keep looking at indeed and really it looks like this Management and Training Corporation pops up a lot for job listings. Could anyone tell me why it seems like they have such a high turnover?
I ask as part of a linguistic study on slang! Even if it be childish or whatever. A nearby coastal town being called 'Beerfart', for example. Also interested in nicknames for schools etc.
Any idea what's happening? Because it's upsetting the critters. Thanks!
It started last night and has been whining all day long non-stop. I'm in the east side of town.
