I honestly don't understand why they can't make these book-length stories. 5-6 pages? That's it? Amber Nightstone, the villain, is one of the freshest characters Archie has, introduced two years ago, and, aside from the Wicked Trinity miniseries, is getting the short shrift, literally, in these short stories.
Ian Flynn's been with Archie for years (i.e. Sonic The Hedgehog), and knows how to write longer stories. This year's short tale starts right in the middle of the action, with Sabrina answering a summons from Jughead. We see Archie and Mr. Lodge having already been ensorcelled by Amber, and the dialogue tells us how instead of showing the reader what happened. Flynn and Steven Butler are veterans. They know better.
The reprints in the back-up slots are all of more recent vintage, it would appear, say, within the last 10-15 years or so. Can anyone confirm?
Give me a Sabrina monthly drawn by Butler over this.
Is the reason they had a Betty and Me series due to Archie always being with Veronica in the main comics so they created that title to give Betty storylines with Archie?
Finally got around to watching To Riverdale and Back Again, the 90s made-for-tv movie. I thought it was great. The casting was reminiscent of the comic depictions but not too close, which I felt helped keep the characters grounded. I thought it was well-written and wholesome and gave the characters enough development to carry the themes but not too much to divorce them completely from the core dynamics (the Archie/Betty/Veronica love triangle, the Archie/Reggie rivalry etc) that defined their comic counterparts.
And yeah, I thought the Jughead rap was oddly endearing and dorky in the best way.
TLDR: Archie t.v. movie is a comic adaptation done right. Lots of sincerity and heart sorely missing from modern fare.
What do you all think?
Longtime Marvel/DC reader who wants to expand his horizons here. Just have a love of the medium and the artwork in particular, but noticed a lot of the Archie digests have very small, non-standard dimensions. Do they print any of these books in a more standard comic book size, like 8.3 x 10 or whatever?
When I was a kid I remember a funny Betty and Veronica comic where Betty buys something from the store, Veronica is convinced it is a small bikini, so she gets a small one to beat Betty and it ends up being earplugs, and Veronica is in a small bikini, I can't find what comic it was originally in or double digest it might have been reprinted in, can anyone here help with this?
I'm looking for an old comic I remember seeing in an Archie comics book. It wasn't about any of the main characters. I sadly don't remember the name of the character. The story was about how that girl was always sitting in weird ways, and her parents kept telling her to sit properly. Anyone else remembers this and can help me find it? Thank you!
I’m a 35 year collector of Archie Digests, and I cannot seem to find any ideas of how to display them other than DVD shelves. I want something a bit less boring. Does anyone have any ideas? I have about 500. Help me get creative!!
My brother is really into Sabrina, both the 90s show and the new one. I used to devour archie comics when we were kids, and I'm guessing he would read the sabrina ones. Is there anywhere I can find these for sale now? Preferably without paying $300...
Would you recommend reading these comics in this order or any other?
Since it’s October that time of year of Halloween, I was just thinking about some of Archies pass free comics that they gave out for Halloween at the comic book stores since there’s a link I’m putting it below so you can read them for free if you’re interested
I've noticed my girlfriend really likes Archie comics when they appear on her Facebook feed and would like to get her one.
Is there any that you guys would recommend?
I don't think she's actually read a whole comic so any with any major storylines would be good.
Preferably in the classic art style
Hello,
Sorry for not posting much atm sick, been Comics Hunting for both Mahvel, and Archies, and some mental battles that kept me from posting much on my Social Media's but recently I bought and found No. 2 of Archie Double Digest Monthly and they were Thicc and I when I saw my normal Digest's they seem a bit bigger than normal and just wanted to know how many did they print? (I mean the Quarterly Monthly ones)
Ok I remember this comic so distinctly but can’t find any pictures of it online. Betty and Veronica go visit Ginger in a city and she works at a clothing design store. Ginger goes surfing and that’s really what I want a photo of! Let me know if you know which one I’m talking about!!
