/r/AnimationCrit
A friendly space to receive and give feedback on each other's character animations. All skill levels and tools welcome.
Please note that all posts have to include a question or request for feedback in the TITLE, not comments. Your submission also has to be a character animation, video editing and animatics are not allowed.
Welcome to /r/animationcrit, a friendly space where you can post your animations and receive feedback!
RULES:
You cannot post someone else's work, commercial work, etc. Your post also has to include an animation in some stage of progress.
Animation in this case is defined by creating the illusion of movement through a rapid succession of handcrafted images. Recordings of your screen does not count as animation, low effort animation has to take rule 4 into account.
This is a forum for giving and receiving feedback, and in order to encourage conversation around an animated piece the post needs to include a specific question or a request. It is not enough to simply post "This is my animation", the post has to show that you are interested in hearing what people have to say about it.
Here are a few examples of what you could ask: "How can I improve this animation?" "What's missing in this animation?" "What do you think about the art style?"
We will assume that you are posting to this subreddit to grow and improve as an animator, and then likes/views/shares don't matter. If you are looking to share your animation with the world, try posting to /r/animation.
We welcome animation that is work in progress, however we ask that you describe where you are in the progress using one of these words in the title: storyboard, animatic, boardomatic, leica reel, blocking, or a similar term you think suits.
If your work is simply "low effort", meaning it's more of an image slide show than an animation, this will not count as an actual animation. Animation needs to convey the illusion of movement to count as such, image slide shows does not accomplish this.

It's super rough and stuff occasionally suddenly backs up a bit because of some frames. Also occasionally only the background will appear for single frame due to blank backgrounds and stuff that I'm leaving in to use later on.
I'm fairly new to animation and I draw all of this by hand on my phone (my new phone just refuses to do anything if I use a stylus for some reason).
This is a reupload
This is a current 4th-year uni project, I've gotten it to a point I'm happy with and can't think how to take it further on my own. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
Is the animation too fast? Should I have slowed it down a bit?
I made this in flipaclip in about 1 1/2 hours and other than the pacing it is decent. Anything else that I should fix?
I want it to be as pleasing as possible to watch
Hi, I had a second attempt at this clip. It still doesnt look right but I've been staring at it for so long I feel like I'm going blind. I dont know what to do with it.
Any ideas how I can improve it??
Also, how can I put the video embedded in to this post, like others are able to do? Do I need to type something before or after it?
I hope it's okay to post this kind of animation here. It's supposed to be my main animation for my demo reel so I intentionally didn't add any fanzy camera movements to it to prioritize movement clarity. The model is Juri Han from the Street Fighter series.
Looking for all kinds of feedback. Does the animation look good? Is it fitting for a demo reel? Am I even allowed to use an official model from a video game as a character for my demo reel? Do you think I have a chance of getting hired with this animation quality?
Would be awesome if someone could help me out with these questions :)
Did I do 👍
animated in krita but i’ve been interested in opentoonz lately. i’m not sure which program to use or where to go from here. i’ve been doing walk cycles and things but feel a bit plateaued with my progression. any advice?
